Thank you for filling me in on the AP code. Something I would not qualify for (darn!)

So what is your opinion on a family of 5 staying at the AS Movie resort the 3rd week of Oct with no AAA membership. Would it really help out if we got it?

I just want to save some money somewhere!!!

AP= Annual Pass. Alot of people are waiting for an annual pass rate (discount).

I requested rates for POP for the dates of Oct 14-23. They quoted me a rate of $93 after my AAA discount and these dates will be in "regular" season.

I am SO hoping for an additional discount. I paid a $49 a room at POP with a pin code 2 years ago and this years rate is hard to swallow.

Not much to do but wait.

That's what I paid and now my trip in March will be $132.68 PER NIGHT!!!!!

Doesn't anybody have any good news/rumors to share? We have been trying for 2 nights at Pop with an AAA rate and can't even get that. We did manage to snag 2 rooms for 3 nights at Yacht Club w/AAA discount (over $1700!), but still that's a lot of money!!!! Not like when we get an AP discount and you feel that you have really scored a bargain. I have spoken with Disney Travel Co 2 days in a row and they seem clueless about any AP discounts and from what I have been able to tell most AAA discounts have been snatched up already. Can anyone spread a little sunshine here????? And, give us all some hope.......

I suppose this counts as a rumor. I called to add a day to my WL reservation for mid-October and I told the CM that I knew they didn't have the AAA rate, which I used for the rest of it and to just book it anyway. I was hoping an AP rate would come out before then but if not it didn't matter. She said, "Hm, that might happen. It'd probably be the first time for a discount."

I was thinking about something else though and didn't ask her to clarify. I got the impression she thought there would be no discounts for any time before then.

My guess is that with the new "celebration" starting in October, the fall season will become a highly desireable time to go. Maybe Disney will want to gurantee that by offering some sort of package for this time frame??

We don't have a AAA membership either (we have excellent roadside assistance through our insurance plan), but I looked at getting one for the discount. Going to ASMo in regular season for 6 nights, the discount was $90, and the cost of membership was $75. For $15 we decided it wasn't worth it.

I was secretly hoping that this new "celebration" wouldn't start until January because I was hoping for a "low crowds" October vacation.

this is not the first celebration to start in October. There will likely be a lot of press around (there was for the opening of Mission:Space in October 2003) but I don't know how many people will make plans to go specifically for the start of the new celebration.

It's gotten busier for several reasons: the golf tournaments, Fall breaks in schools throughout the South, Columbus Day, Food & Wine Festival, the Halloween Party, and years of the travel industry saying it's a slow time.

Checking back in for AP discount or any code for mid-October - no movement yet I see.

BTW, other than the suites, the Values sleep 4 people (additionally, will allow 1 under age 3 in pack & play). They will not knowingly book the room or provide you w/a resort card for the 5 person to access EMH, etc.

Might want to check out moderates, campground or renting points @ DVC (they unoffically will allow 5 in a 1 BR).

Disney plans alot of opening in October. I was ther for that Oct 2004 and let me tell you it was a zoo. Epcot close early on day for Mission Space Press event. MK closed early for Wishes press event. The day I saw Wishes i have never seen the park so crowded. Wall to wall people as far a you could see. It was almost dangerous. After the fireworks wheel chair and strollers we left all over. It took 2 hr to get out and get back to the room. Never again during press week

We went down on Wed. Oct. 1, 2003 for MNSSHP. The next day (Thursday), Oct. 2, we went directly over to EPCOT because I've read here they had a soft opening for Mission:Space and we wanted to try it out. It was all decorated for the big press conference, I took lots of pictures

Our family could not believe our eyes: EPCOT was absolutely Empty! There were some parts when we were walking that there was not another soul around. Even at the end of the day, it wasn't that crowded and we even got a great spot for Illuminations. The next night we went to MNSSHP and it was not too crowded at all. I think it was either Friday or Saturday that EPCOT had their press conference for Mission:Space, but I wasn't in EPCOT that day, maybe it was crowded. But otherwise, Disney World on the whole was not crowded.

We're going down on Sept. 30 and attending the 10/6 MNSSHP. We're hoping for the same conditions

we were SO happy to be leaving before all that got underway-- it was the week after we were there.

Didn't the MK open on October 1, 1971? Hence the October start date on many of the celebrations?

Count me in!! I have 8 nights booked, Oct 20-28 so I will take whatever discount I can get. But I am kind of leaning toward an annual pass!

that's a great idea when we lived in New York we did the same thing. We planned our following years trip down to WDW two weeks earlier, so this way we got two years out of our AP.

I went in October of 2003. I was there for the big press thing for the opening of Mission: SPACE, they closed EPCOT at 3pm so it was empty all day. They also opened Mickey's Philharmagic within the same week. Even with all the press and "extra" people there we didn't notice a jump in the crowd size. The only thing we noticed were the celebrities.

I'm headed down again in October this year but, later in the month. Already booked Pop-Century through AAA and got a decent rate $1250 with dining, just 5 days.

Why is October big? Nobody wants to take their kids out of school a month after going back. No big weekends to plan with. And yeah, like it was mentioned above...Disney World opened in October.

I'm just hoping for some deal that will get me the dining plan at the end of October. And that the Nemo rides open then.

I have already got my MNSSHP tickets but this is silly I have not booked the rooms. Had CM tell me if I needed to change later it would cost $50 if the ressie was cheaper. Should I book now and hope for a great code later?

The CM gave you bad information. I have the reservation confirmation for our October trip right here in front of me, and it states that, in order to receive a refund of your deposit, cancellation must be received within 5 days of your arrival date.

When I made the ressie, I told the CM that I might be changing to another resort if a good AP rate came out, and she said no problem, I wouldn't lose any money as long as I made the changes more than 5 days before our arrival.

So as long as you make changes more than 5 days out, you are fine to go ahead and make ressies.

I don't think it was bad information just confusing info. If you book a package and change within the 45days of arrival to a cheaper resort then you would be charged $50.
