I have read people's experiences loosing points for reservations they canceled but what happens if the resort is still closed? We have a Sept reservation made up of banked, borrowed and current year use (Oct) points. Best guess on what happens to our points iif Aulani stays closed?

If the resort remains closed, they should allow late banking, and the return of borrowed points, based on today’s policy.

The banked points have been extended until November 30th, but won’t show up in your account,,,,you have to call to use them and they don’t get extended until after October 1st.

Same with the 2019 UY points...the move to 2020 will not happen until after they expire.

If Aulani is still closed in September, I would not be surprised to see special dispensation for points used for affected reservations. I can’t say it would definitely happen, only that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it.

OTOH the governor of Hawaii has announced they are planning to reopen the state in August, using testing instead of quarantine to protect their citizens. Details remain to be seen.

Carolyn, the testing is what I am worried about. We are fine going and fine having the test but most of the country is having a hard time getting tests so they should not be used for travel. Currently you can not get one here unless showing symptoms. If both things ease up by September you still might not get results in 72 hours. I am concerned Aulani will open up when they really shouldn't and most guests do not have a way to actually get there without being in quarantine. I know, a lot of if's:).

Exactly! Apparently Hawaii has announced that they are partnering with CVS to do testing, but again details on the partnership are nonexistent. No one is sure whether the specimen needs to be obtained 72 hours before you step on your first flight no matter where you’re coming from or 72 hours from when you arrive and also whether email results will satisfy the requirements. A lot is up in the air — and I’m sure Disney is watching very carefully, as are all of the timeshare operators in Hawaii.

We are supposed to check in Sept 12th. We called member services today since our trip is comprised of banked (‘19) borrowed and current use year points. We were told banked points would be lost and borrowed points could be put back. We were also told that if we don’t cancel prior to 30 days our points will go into holding so not to wait for them to cancel. I’m not happy. I feel like Aulani and Grand Californian are just being forgotten right now.
ETA our Sept trip was a reschedule of a May trip. We just bought this contract direct in Sept, haven’t even used a single point yet. It’s extra salt in the wound.

This is our issue (Sept trip too). The only rapid tests available in our area are for hospital patients being admitted for procedures. I’m not going to let my whole trip hang on test results that may or may not come back before we leave for the airport. I wonder if they even open the resort knowing most of the country can’t

My sister got a test at CVS 8 days ago and still doesn’t have results back. We aren’t looking forward to this partnership
