Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

I actually decided to start packing at 1am. Got a few things picked out and then the brain quit working. Need to get out the umbrellas and rain jackets - hoping we won't need them, but better to be safe than sorry.

We're 90 percent packed. Only two more days.

For those of you coming from out of town tomorrow, have a safe trip and see you on board.

Well, we haven't started packing yet, as we live less than 2 hours from the port and we won't leave till Friday.

I wish I knew what to do about the weather and packing. Should I pack my rainpants that I never wore in Alaska? Or should I pack stuff for warmer weather in case our cruise diverts and goes south?

I did load up on meclazine (bonine) as I am NOT good with motion sickness. Hurricanes do what they want. Maybe Leslie will change her mind and just go way east in the Atlantic, and let us enjoy our cruise!

This the total conundrum that I'm dealing with: alaska weather (i.e. rain) or shorts/capris. I'm crossing my fingers Leslie goes away :)

Me too, which just means that I packed for both options and threw my goal of packing light out the window! This feels like packing for Seattle/Alaska all over again, minus the parka, snow boots, ski hat and ski gloves. We had almost 90 degree weather for our 3 days in Seattle and then typical Alaska weather (although not much rain during our port days, actually). I am bringing my rain jacket and rain pants on this upcoming cruise, just in case.

Keeping my fingers crossed! Everything is spread out on the couch, and need to make decision about what to bring. Brought out extra sweatshirt and sweater, but think will stick to capris over shorts and bring an extra pair of jeans. Will do laundry if I have to...rain is a whole other issue. Assume that outside activities are cancelled, like the Pirate Party, or do they move it inside? :scratchin

I already left home for the cruise. I packed for half and half. Warm weather stuff and cold weather stuff. I think I am good for any type of weather! The potential hurricane is my concern!

Pretty much packed here. Still have to get out my rain jacket and get my shoes together. Minimal electronics are being brought. DH has his beer mug all set to go. Tourist bureau books I had mailed to me are set to go too. Bonine and Sea Bands were bought tonight since my 3 pair of sea bands that I already own are in FL. DCL paperwork is printed, signed and in the bag.
Hmmm....what else do I need?

Last day of work for me today  One last load of laundry to do - clothes are out just need to be put into suitcase tonight.

Our train leaves at 5:17am tomorrow - sounds like it going to be hot and humid in NYC :crazy2:

Safe travels to all - can't wait to see everyone on the ship. Keeping my fingers crossed that Leslie stays out to sea and that our seas aren't too rough.

Started our laundry this morning. I'm just going over our packing list and our vacation to do's.

Our train leaves at 7am tomorrow. I think I'll make some muffins for the trip.

Safe travels everyone, see you soon.

We're headed up in a couple of hours.
Safe travels to all and let's all hope and pray that Leslie either moves away or continues to move v...e....r....y... s...l...o...w....

We are on the train almost to DC!!
It has been awhile and it is great that they have free wifi! Hour wait coming up in DC to change engines! Safe travels everyone. Sue

I went for a 5+ mile walk this morning in anticipation of a lot of sitting on the plane ride tonight (hopefully some sleeping too!). So excited departure day has finally arrived. When we booked this cruise in July, it seemed like such a short time between our Alaska cruise and this one, but these 3 1/2 weeks seem to have taken forever. I wish everyone safe travels. Looking forward to meeting you in the terminal or on the Magic.

Who would have thought that we'd be tracking a hurricane on a Canada bound cruise? I Safe travels to everyone.

I know! Crazy. I really hope we get to see Novia Scotia, but I'm sure wherever we go, we'll have a blast. Safe travels everyone!

Same to you. Our train is about 45 minutes from NYC!

Stop by B&H. We're only a block west of Penn Station. I'll give you a personal tour ;-)

For those that have cruise out of NYC, how far is the walk from where the car service drops you off to where you get rid of your luggage and check in?
