Although our cruise was short, I still wanted to thank DCL for providing excellent service and entertainment during very trying times. I truly feel sorry for other guests who had difficult times.

Delta Airlines also provided excellent customer service by changing my tickets at least 5 times over the Labor Day weekend
at no additional cost. My $ 140 roundtrip ticket from Dayton thru Atlanta to Orlando wound up with direct flight from Cincinnati to Miami on Tuesday morning to catch the boat and direct from Orlando to Cincinnati on Saturday morning.

We were met by DCL rep at Miami airport with a bus to take us to Port Everglades even though the night before DCL said no transportation would be available and we would have to rent a car or take a cab for two families (party of 8). No, we did not purchase Disney transfers with our cruise package.

DCL upgraded us from a cat 8 to a cat. 6 but left the other family behind. After offering to go back to our original room, the very kind DCL rep working in a crowded, undecorated warehouse without computers was able to move both families to cat. 6 in side-by-side cabins.

I did see many guests losing their nerves in the long check-in line especially when the keys we were given would not open up the cabins.

Thanks to Town Car Limo (www.towncarlimos.com) for meeting us Saturday morning in a surprise stretch limo to take all 8 of us home. We have used this company for ten years to take us from Orlando airport to DisneyWorld. After telling Town Car that we could not use them on Tuesday but to pick us up in a van on Saturday. The owner, Jim called me back and tried to talk me out of going on the cruise. He was truly concerned about our safety and our vacation with the condition of Florida and the weather.

Looking forward to our fourth Disney Cruise next year.

It's wonderful to read this post. We always cruise in February so our risk is snow and we've been fortunate every time. I'm happy Delta, Disney and Town Car, etc. were so professional. I get aggravated by reading all negative feedback on these boards sometimes. It's nice to know people are being rewarded for just trying.

You'll certainly be able to remember this vacation, won't you!? Humor and faith will get us by the hard parts in life. I'm glad everyone is safe.

Kim

I agree with Kim. Everyone we dealt with (Jet Blue changed our reservations about the same amount of times) and DVC changed our reservations for later in the week and returned our points to our account without issue. We did experience many challanges from the time we landed in Ft. Myers, Fl (from a lack of information provided from DCL)till we arrived at the terminal in Ft. Lauderdale but once we got on the ship we had a spectacular time and will cruise again with Disney the same time next year (hurricane permiting).

We understand that logistics were a nightmare for DCL after two hurricanes but hopefully DCL has learned from these experiences and won't repeat these same mistakes for other guests in the future.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your cruise.
We were on the 9/11 Magic right after you. We heard a lot of complaining from 2 families that were on your cruise and were renting cars at Budget when we dropped ours off.
Our cruise was lovely in spite of the ever changing itinerary and lots of stress beforehand.
Yes we found the CMs to be wonderful, and they really worked hard to make our cruise special! :smooth:

Thanks to Kim & Bob for replying to my thread. I also was getting tired of the negative comments and wanted to present a positive upbeat story. Til we cruise again ........

How very refreshing to hear such a positive approach to the difficult situation. I too am somewhat tired of the petty, pickiness of some of the posts. You do bring in a breath of fresh air which is very needed! Hope next years cruise is wonderful! But with an attitude like yours, I know you would MAKE it wonderful just by being there! Thanks again.

thank you so much for your trip. It is very good to hear positive comments in light of a very bad situation. Like I always say you can't please everyone all the time only some of the people some of the time.

I meant post. Sorry my fingers aren't working today.

i totally agree. i had a great time. the worst part of the cruise were the unhappy guests!

Glad it worked out for you. Wish I could say the same for us--and I wish people would get off there high horses about judging other people's experiences. We had a very, very poor experience in ultimately missing the 9/4 cruise, and I absolutely resent anyone pointing fingers about how I should not be upset, disappointed, or feel mistreated. Yes, it did work out for some people. That is great. But, for those of us who made a SUPREME effort to get on this cruise and ultimately could not do it, I am deeply hurt by posts that tell us to quit complaining and get over it. Our experiences are no less important or real than the good ones.
