Cindy,

I'm glad that you and Cameron had a great time. Damon said to ask Cameron if he noticed a military helicopter flying above Disney World yesterday... if so, that was Damon on his way to deliver a helicopter somewhere!

Here is a closer shot of his head!

Nick looks so little in this picture. The other one has him about 8, but this one looks like maybe he was 5 or so.

There is no way I could talk Cameron into getting his hair cut here. But, now I see these pictures and wish I would have used the "do it for me" card. Oh well, maybe next time.

Cameron & I decided we're going to try and get Walker & Gary to have their hair cut next trip. But, now that I see Gary's been posting on this thread again, I guess the secrets out of the bag. There's still hope of surprising Walker though. And, we'll have to see if Gary's up to the extras they add in!

Ok, I had to dig deep for this one. Here is Emily's first haircut!!

This doesn't even look like Emily today. She's so little and precious! (not that she's not precious anymore -- she certainly is still little princess! princess: )

Those $2.50-$4.00 per item add up rather quickly. There is no way I could afford to take Cameron & Gary at the same time without really planning for the cost. They would love to sample everything! Cameron & I alone spent a chunk. Add a family of 4 and it gets a bit pricey when all added up.

We did it last year and while it's pricey, when all is said and done we added it up and it was about what we would have paid in a nice sit down restaurant....and we got to sample WAY more than we would have at a restaurant!

My kids LOVE the Canada salmon. That's their favorite. They sat down devouring it and some lady leans over and says "how do you get your kids to eat that kind of thing?" Funny thing is, that's about the only "weird" thing they eat! And it all started b/c my dad came back from a fishing trip and gave them "Canada meat." They never thought twice about it being "fish." ;)

Where are the hidden Mickeys on Soarin'?? Where? Where?

One is very easy....it's in the fireworks over Disneyland.
The other is harder....much harder....and was found by one of my kids (can't remember which one, I think Nick, but don't want to give credit where credit is not due) It is on the golf ball that is hit on the ground and comes FLYING at you!! Tiny little black Mickey head on it!

Cool, we'll have to ride Soarin this weekend, since we'll be heading to Epcot on Saturday.

I can only imagine her face when you put the phone to her ear. Nick thought it was neat to have a special wake up call from Goofy for his birthday when we celebrated it at WDW 2 years ago. That's when we got his hair done too and had breakfast with the princess' in the castle. Everyone kept commenting on his hair and wishing him a Happy B-Day, (becaus he was wearing the special button of course!)

Okay, perfect opening for my rank. Be forewarned, I'm stepping up on my soap box now. Amy, you've already heard me gripe about this but you didn't hear the last part.

We checked in Thursday. First we were assigned a handicapped room but didn't know it until we went to the room. So, after we wanted to get settled, we had to track back up to the front desk where we were assigned a different room (with a lovely EPCOT view, I should add).

By the time we were done at B&C and Stormalong Bay, we went to our new room to find that our Magical Express luggage had yet to arrive. No problem, I pick up the phone to call and find out when to expect it. Only to find out, the phone doesn't work. :confused3

So, I tell Cameron not to open the door and off I go looking for someone to help us. I find 3 CM's cleaning carpet in one of the units. I knock, ask they to call someone to fix our phone. Run back to the room and look to see the 407# on the phone.

So, I dial it on my cell phone. Tell the operator we're guests in the villas and we have no phone line that works. The CM tells me they will report it and transfers me over to the luggage people.

That night, we're off to the Halloween party. Get back, 12:30, pick up the phone to call for a wake up call and guess what? No phone still. :confused3

I'm a bit ticked now so I call the 407# again. Ask to speak to a manager. The CM who answered put me on hold for a good 10 minutes. Then he gets back on the phone to tell me he can't locate the manager. :confused3 I'm like, how can you not locate a manager of a resort. The CM tells me that the manager is split between the Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht clubs at night and they didn't know how to locate them. I'm still like, that doesn't make sense, how can you not locate the manager? The CM starts getting a bit short with me and ends up transferring me to the front desk -- without telling me he was transfering me......the line just transfered.

So, now I have to go through the entire story again. The CM tells me the manager is currently over at the Boardwalk and he would be calling the manager immediately. I gave him my cell phone number and asked for the manager to call me back. I waiting and waited, but no return call. Finally I gave up.

Friday morning, on our way out, Cameron & I walk up to the front desk. I again ask for the manager. The CM asks if there is something he can do. I say, you know, I've repeated this so many times, can I just talk to the manager. The CM asks my name. Goes into the back room, comes back and asks me if it's regarding a phone problem? Yep! So, he proceeds to tell me that a note was left for the day manager and Jordan was very good and would work on the problem as it was an outside vendor who needed to be called. Jordan never bothered to pop out of the back room to say "I'll take care of it or sorry for the inconvenience"....nothing. I don't think that was a lot to ask.

That night, fortunately, our phone was finally fixed. By the way, Stitch is still the wake up call for the resorts. If you haven't heard him, you really haven't missed much.

Anyway......
I never expect anything but Cameron's birthday comes on Saturday. I'm thinking, gee, I went around and around with the phone thing, I'm certain the resort will some way, some how, acknowledge Cameron's birthday. Nope, nothing! So, I didn't say anything to Cameron as again, we never expect anything. I was thrilled that the young CM over at AK gave Cameron a free dessert for his birthday because he was wearing the birthday pin. Grateful that someone other than Mom acknowledged his birthday.

So, now I'm thinking, maybe it wasn't noted on the reservation about Cameron's birthday. Until Sunday night, when we get back to our room after dinner with Amy & Chris. There is a note left for Cameron from Housekeeping wishing him a Happy Birthday. Cameron's usually more embarrest by this type of thing, but I could see, he was thrilled with just a little note.

Yesterday, we were early for the Magical Express bus. Cameron's working on homework, I'm just kind of bidding time. There is a CM walking back and forth through the lobby. So, he stops to chat. Asks how long we are staying and I tell him we're on our way out. Then I ask him what he does at the resort -- turns out he's one of the manager. Thank you very much for the opprotunity, I now have something I just want to mention to you. So, I relay the story of the phone to him. I could tell my his reaction that he was surprised that no one would even talk to me about the sitatuion or that I didn't receive a call later saying the problem had been fixed. Nothing. Then I mention to him about Cameron's birthday and how I'm taking home the memory of this young CM over at AK giving him dessert, just because it was his birthday and he noticed the button. Again, I tell him I never EXPECT anything and he goes on to tell me that the Beach Club always acknowledge birthdays when noted --- ESPECIALLY when it's for a child.

Now I'm starting to get really upset. My emotions show on my face and I start to get teary eyed. I couldn't help it and the more I tried to stop, the more the tears well up in my eyes. I've always felt, mess with me, but DON'T mess with my kids! So, here I am, a blubbering idiot, crying because my kid was not acknowledged on his birthday. I wanted to die, right there on the spot. So, Justin goes on to ask me, how soon are we leaving on the bus. I say in about 20 minutes. He then asks me if there is anything he can do at this point to make it better. Offering over and over and over again. I'm getting more and more worked up now and really feeling like a fool. Finally, I got over my tears and we talked about all the little extras we've received over the years just because and how they have stayed with us as very positive memories.

Justin asked me when were were returning to WDW. I told him in March. Now I'm sure that very moment, he went off and call Member Services. The reason??? I'm sure our reservation has been noted that this Mom is a blubbering idiot, on the verge of a nervous breakdown so make sure whatever room we are assigned has a working phone and please, whatever you do, don't approach her in the lobby on her way out. :rotfl:

KT was just cast as Young Jen in Scrooge. She's also going to be in the ensemble.
Nick was cast at Tiny Tim!! :)

Woo-hoo. I wasn't here during last years hectic play schedule (Nick was Christopher Robin in The House at Pooh Corner) Suffice it to say we'll be busy busy busy for the next 8 weeks or so!!

Good morning everyone!! Had a great time with Cindy & Cameron yesterday. We didn't get home until around 11:30pm, so I went straight to bed. I actually contemplated sitting down on my computer, but I knew that I would regret staying up any later, so to bed I went!! I fell asleep in a matter minutes, I was so tired!!

More details later, as I have to get Madison up and dressed, so that we can get Emily to preschool.

Speaking of sleeping, Madison just couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. Here she is sleeping on the table at Ohanas ---

I'm sorry we missed you. Sometimes those cell phones get a bit crazy at WDW.

Hopefully another time.

And, on a side note, we really liked the new menu options at O'hana. At first, Chris was really worried about them not having the grilled shrimp, because that was his favorite. But, the new sweet & sour shrimp is really good.

Amy, you forgot the part where they tried to poison my child. :earseek:

Seriously, Cameron had some meat that didn't smell good. One wiff and it was apparent it didn't smell right. Amy, Chris, Cameron & I all took a good wiff and decided it didn't smell right. So, I mentioned it to the server who said, we'll get you some more. :confused3 Somehow, I was more concerned about everyone else who might have bad meat on their plate.

We had an AWESOME assistant server who we then mentioned it to. The assistant server went over to get the chef. Sure enough, upon his turn of smelling the meat, he agreed it didn't smell right. Went on to tell me their meat is brough in daily, skewered the next morning and used that night. Amy had a couple pieces which were next to Cameron's on the skewer. The chef said he was going to clear the plates and had the assistant server take care of it right away (good thing it wasn't the server, huh, Amy or we might still be waiting ;) ). The chef then left and returned a bit later with another chef to say that they checked their remaining meat, everything seemed fine and the thank us for mentioning it.

My biggest concern was for the small child who might have had a piece of the meat and not known it didn't smell right and ate it anyway. Cameron was already worried about the 1 piece he ate, fortunately he believed us that 1 little piece wouldn't hurt him. That was the end of his meal though.

We did stay long enough at the restaurant to watch Wishes. Not only were we able to add 4 more to our 7 p.m. reservation, but then they sat us at a window table. Had I tried to arrange that, I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to. Sometimes those things work out so nice!

I should have mentioned, all in all, we will still return to Ohanas. The menu changes are there but the meal is still worth the trip.

The two things I didn't really care for were the wonton chips (they tasted very heavy to me) and the salad.

I hope the kitchen sees a lot of those two items return uneaten and offer something else in their place.

How horrible! I think a working phone is a MUST in a room. What if there was an emergency and you didn't have a cell phone??

ANd, this cracks me up...."what can he do to make it better?" What does he want? You to say "well, how about some drinks, and a free beach towel, and a $50 room credit??"

It's like my $30 Disney TV experience....what can you do to make it better? Short of getting me the $30 tv that some schmuck said he was holding for me?? I know how you can make it better....hunt down whoever it was that told me they were holding a TV for me and read them the riot act!!!

Btw Amy did you guys go to Splash Mountain at all? We were on the train and they announced it was down and was expected to be down for several hours.

Cheryl

Cheryl,

We were riding BTMRR while Amy & Chris and the girls had lunch at Peco Bills. During this time, SM was closed. It really looked odd without the water running down the drop.

I bet we were all in the same area at the same time. How strange!

Here's a small world happening. After riding Haunted Mansion, we were walking towards Peco Bills/BTMRR and we ran into Walker's principal and Cameron's former preschool teacher and her husband. Standing in line waiting to buy water. I was very surprised to see her even though I knew she was heading to WDW. I guess I just didn't realize she was going to be there the same exact time as us. And, who ever can run into someone from home at WDW unplanned. It's such a big place!

ohiominnie said:
Did you see the two hidden Mickey's during Soarin'??

Nope! Missed them. I guess I'll just have to ride it again next trip. :teeth:

We actually did find a few hidden Mickey's we never saw before. One was mowed right into the grass in EPCOT. Another during the Safari ride at AK.

If we would bring our Hidden Mickey book along, I'm sure we'd find a bunch. But, that kind of takes the magic out of it for us.

So, are you going to share when/where they are?
