Did anyone get DOCs today? No Docs here.

Nope. Just checked the perimeter of my house -- nothing.

But, the day isn't over yet! :goodvibes

Still nothing for you, Amy?
Not yet, but my UPS guy doesn't usually show up until around 5 or 6pm. We'll see.

I am actually praying there are no docs today. It is "Fixin' to let loose a gully warsher" outside. For those of you who are Southern Impaired, that means it looks like a large rainstorm. I want my docs, just not soaked.

It's going to be at least another day for us. :(

UPS just drove down the street, passed my house and stopped 2 houses down. I can't believe I saw the truck -- maybe I heard it coming. Anyway, the driver jumped out running with a package. I'm thinking this is it -- our docs. But, he stopped at my next door neighbors instead. :(

Maybe tomorrow. :goodvibes

Robin, I've never heard of a "gully warsher" before. :) Thanks for the explanation!

Anyone up for a new "GTKYFC"???

We've covered a lot of things on this thread, but I don't know if we've talked about what truly brings us all together. Our common bond on this cruise. DVC!!!  :cool1:

So, when did you buy in and how did you decide on your home resort. Why one home over another home resort? Did you buy the first time you met with a guide? Did you have to think about the decision or was it a done deal from the get go? Did you buy all of your points at once or did you added on? If so, how many times? At the same home resort or another one?

I'm sure there are lots and lots of different possibilities to be covered. So, feel free to share anything you'd like about your DVC.

I know some threads covering these topics get a little tense. I know we can all answer and keep the positive attitude of this thread. :goodvibes :goodvibes :)

Would anyone like to go first???

Ok, I'll go. We met with a guide either right before or right after we got married. But, at the time, we had just gotten married and there was NO way that we could afford DVC at the time. But, we just stored that information away for future possibilities. Then, we were at Disney one weekend and decided to stop by the DVC offices, because our circumstances had changed with Chris' job. And, we heard, via these boards, that VWL would be on sale soon. Because we live in FL, we wanted something that would give us a feel that was NOT Florida and VWL seemed perfect. So, we went that Saturday afternoon to DVC to meet with a guide. They told us that there was nothing being sold on WDW property, but we could buy into HH or Vero. We weren't really interested, since we really wanted WDW. But, the guide told us that we might want to stop by early the next morning, because things just might change. Well, you know how the DVC guides won't give you any "official" information, but we made an appt for the first thing on Sunday morning. And, VWL was officially for sale that morning. We were one of the first few to actually own at VWL. Our first purchase was for 280 points, because we wanted to be able to have a decent amount of time at VWL. Then, we heard, again through the DIS, that VWL was close to selling out, so we purchased an additional 50 pts.

No docs here today either. I just saw the truck go by twice, which means his been in our development and out again.

We are having a "gully warsher" here right now, maybe he has them and didn't feel like getting wet? :rotfl:

I actually talked about this with Stacy yesterday. :goodvibes We had just gotten married, literally hours after. We went to DTD to shop in between our ceremony and the reception. (Isn't that what all people do?) Friends of ours owned DVC and we were talking about how we had just dropped over $10,000 on the wedding which included paying $300 a night for AKL Savannah View. So, we stopped at the booth and said hey, we'd like more info. We went over to the Boardwalk and DH, who is pretty hard to convince when it comes to parting with cash, said OK, where do we sign. Our guide was like, we'll I'll leave you alone and you can explore the options, blah blah. DH was like, really it's not necessary. This is a no brainer and we're buying today! :Pinkbounc BCV had just gone on sale, so we bought there. It wasn't even open yet, but my Dad and his wife were staying at the BC and we had already fallen in love with the place! :goodvibes

The 1st member cruise was offered a few months after we bought....so that was our first offical points vacation, and our second cruise in like a 9 month period. :cool1:

Wow! Once again, I leave town for a day to take DD to college, and spend most of the day (off and on) catching up. DH officially called me a "Disney Nut" last night. So, onto some of the topics discussed (I had to take notes!)

My sister and I might be interested in walking in the morning. I walk with my neighbors on a regular basis, and it's so much more fun when you have someone to chat with.

My sister arranged for a rental car, and I think she's planning to return it at the port and get a different car upon our return. In that situation, is the best plan to drop someone off with the luggage at the port and take a shuttle back from the car rental place, or should we just return the car and ride the shuttle with all our stuff back? There will only be the two of us.

We heard about DVC while we were waiting for a table at Artist's Point. The DVC table was right there by the entrance. We were staying at VWL on cash, and that's what DVC was selling at the time, so we knew we'd love it! I was leaving the next day to go to a retreat, so DH took the tour by himself. After he came home, I looked over the paperwork, watched the video, and we decided to purchase 450 points as our 25th anniversary gift to each other.

Diana and Amy...your girls are adorable! I will probably recognize them just from their pictures. So, if a strange lady starts talking to them on the cruise, it's probably me. I work with preschoolers, so I love talking to kids that age!

Edited to add...no docs in Southern Indiana today. I'll keep looking!

The Fed Ex truck slowed down on my street today but he didn't come to my door - hopefully it will be soon - sure caught my attention seeing that truck in the neighborhood.

Mary, UPS! You're looking for the wrong truck. :)

We got the really way-cool postcard from DCL today for the 10/11 day cruises. It's one of those lenticular animated scenes, I love those.

And I would mention about the docs, figure whatever it would normally take something to get to you via regular UPS ground from Florida.

Here's UPS's time and cost calculator. UPS Website(click)

Now for me, I order parts regularly for work from a manufacturer in Tampa. Usually takes at least a few days to get here to Chicago.

I haven't been on for a couple of days.... :earseek:

Doing a quick fly-by of posts, I see the docs are on the way, but do we have an official winner? Has anyone been the 1st to receive their docs?

We signed on the dotted line during our first tour. That was 1999. Boardwalk was the only one for sale. We wanted OKW. Oh well. 8 addons later we owen BWV, VB,VWL and BCV. Every thing but OKW. That's because OKW opened again after all of our points where bought.

Yup, JohnVN was the first to check in, followed closely by Sneaky3.

I take allergy shots, too, but my DH gives them to me. Just gotta make sure he's in a good mood when he does it! :rotfl2: But it sure saves me alot of time spent at the allergy doctor's office waiting for the nurse to give them.

Mona, my allergy shots cost more when given at the office used to have them shipped here but my wonderful insurance BC/BS says they would rather pay the Dr's office more then have them send it to me and let my wife the RN give them to me.

Anyway no docs today here in Illinois but we got the cool postcard and yes that puppy will be scrapbooked ASAP when we return.

Since I was off work today I did get some new things put onto my Avalanche mostly stuff to protect it.

Hope you all had good days.

No docs here. But then I expect to see them about Sept. 1. Mine are always the last to arrive.

DH and I had been on a cruise which I had won at my job in May, 1994. After the cruise we had added on a package to WDW to spend a couple of days there. Went by one of the booths in the parks and were invited to OKW for a preview. We signed up (especially since he said we would get free ice cream at the end) HA........if we only knew.

Went on the tour, and we were sold. Had looked at many timeshares before, but hated the lack of flexibility. We loved the Disney concept. We originally bought 220 points in May of 2004 and then a year or two later I decided we needed more points, so we bought another 180. Have a total of 400.

We have been on 5 cruises (Holland America to Alaska, the rest Disney) and Vero Beach numerous times, OKW numerous times, and Boardwalk once. We love OKW. We took all DH's married kids and spouses on points on their first Disney Cruise in Nov. 2002, and then we used points for the 10 day Christmas cruise and gave the kids their own stateroom for their Christmas present (3 staterooms) and paid cash for them. OUCH!

No more cruising for them. I am keeping the points for myself from now on. I've introduced them to DVC and at this point, they stay.......they pay!

Sept. 1st???? :earseek: That would be a little too close for comfort, don't you think? ;)

We decided to buy the day that we took the tour. That was in 2000. We bought Boardwalk - that was the only thing for sale - 150 points. DH was a little hesitant but I knew it was a great deal!! :flower:

We have talked about buying more points & probably will someday. We have used our points at WDW a couple of times, for a disney cruise & at a beautiful resort in Vermont. :Pinkbounc
