Steff - sounds like you guys are having a great time!

We are...I don't want to leave :rotfl2: I think I'll be in tears on Friday (j/k sorta). It's just been so relaxing and a nice mix of WDW and condo stuff (like my mom and I have been scrapping everything from when her and my dad were first looking for places down here). I've been uploading the photos to Sam's Club, picking 'em up and then adding 'em to the book....lots of fun! Also, we've been renting movies from the local movie shop - so sorta like staying at a DVC, but different - I just can't explain it, I don't know why it's so difficult :) to do so...but you get get right?

Anyway, after I get home I'll count down the 2 weeks till this trip and I will be bursting!!!!!

Travel documents are my responsibility. When we get them we will look them over together and fill them out but then it is my job to organize them and take care of them. I have a very nice document holder that holds our passports, cards, documents, and anything else we may need. I keep that in my purse.

For those of us having to bring a birth certificate since we don't have passports, does anyone have a good way of carrying them? Mine and Gary's are the originals and have our foot prints on them (how cute they are :teeth: ) and I'd hate to have them all bent up when we get back.

Any suggestions?

I just keep mine in an envelope and then in a ziploc. You are only going to have to take them out once if I remember correctly. Then I put the envelope in the folder with all the other important travel docs.

To answer the question--I am in charge on the travel docs as well as the reservations and "the plan". DH is a go with the flow kind of guy. I just tell him when we are leaving and he is there. I pack for me and the kids, and he does his own packing, usually a couple of hours before we leave--which freaks me the heck out, being the planner that I am. I'll be completely packed by the wednesday before we leave, with one short list of last minute ad ins (like my glasses) for Friday morning!

Can you get a new one locally? You can if the births were in Illinois. When we needed them for... I think the wedding, maybe the passports, not sure, it was just a matter of going to the local courthouse and having them print one off. Was cheap and quick. And the originals are in a safe place.

I am responsible for all document prep. I make all plans too. My hubby openly admits that all he does is show up. His job is to drive -- sometimes to Florida, sometimes to the airport.

Another vote for ziploks. I tear out all the necessary pages and put them along with the birth certificates in a large ziplok. Then everythings together.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Both parties were very thankful that no one was hurt.

I will check into that. Thanks. I didn't know I could do that.

It always amazes me the things everyone knows on these boards. :teeth:

The DCL special is on the Travel Channel right now! I can't think of a better way to get more excited for the trip! :Pinkbounc

Today's fluffy question of the day.......

Do you have a fluff question for today? If not how about this one?

While we are on the subject of documents...who in your household will be responsible for them? Is each person responsible for their own or does one person take care of the entire family?
Most definitely in my house, it will be me in charge of the documents. I will fill them out and I will put them in a safe place. Which, right now, is the suitcase that is at the end of my bed that already has my little token gift to the group, binoculars, rain ponchos, fish extender and will soon have my filled-out documents.

Amy, when are you coming up this way again? I have extra free tickets for the zoo if you're interested. I'll tuck them in my luggage. They are good until 9/30/2006. Let me know.

The zoo is a hard one for me to take the kids too. With 8 kids, they don't move very fast. They  the Hamill Family Play Zoo and it seems like we never get out of there and move onto something else. That's what happened yesterday. So, today we'll go back and see the other parts of the zoo we didn't have a chance to do yesterday. Cameron is now getting to the age where he can't/doesn't want to spend all morning at Hamill but the others just love it.
We'll probably be coming up sometime next spring. My brother and his wife are having their first baby this winter (Due on Christmas). So, we figure that we'll head up there in late spring/early summer for a LONG weekend (since Chris is using all his vacation time next year for the 11-night cruise).

You're lucky. I end up packing for the entire family, including Chris. After I'm all done, he starts listing things that we shouldn't forget. Usually I have them all, but once in a while, he thinks of something that I haven't.

I guess I should add that there is a reason why he packs for himself! This removes me from any liability of packing the wrong things or forgetting his "favorite" whatever piece of clothing that of course I have no clue that he's attached so much. Believe me--there's a reason why he packs himself--we don't want to be known as the couple who are fighting constantly on the vacation!

It's kind of quiet here today!
I've got a few ?s
Who is going to decorate their stateroom? What is the theme of your stateroom?
Are you bringing your owen floats and sand toys?
Who is up to walking after dinner or in the morning?

Well, Chris's problem is that he doesn't know what he should or shouldn't wear. So, he just leaves it to me. Heck, if it was his choice, he'd probably hang out in his swimtrunks all the time.

I was thinking about doing a little bit of decorating our cabin in princesses for my 2 little girls. Emily is VERY into the princesses, so I was thinking that she might really think it was cool. We won't bring out own floats (except for the ones that the girls use like the baby float and Emily's floatable swimsuit). But, we do have some cheap sand toys that we will probably bring.

Stopped home at lunch. No documents here. Must be heading over to Michigan first :flower:

I do all the clothes packing in th ehouse. Mark and I decide together what we are going to wear (we tend to wear clothes that match or coorindate on trips). Then I take charge of getting it all packed. He is in charge of packing all the electronic equipment (notebook, camera, etc.).

I don't think we'll do any decorating this trip outside of our door magnets. We did decorate for the 10 day cruise because it was holiday time. We strung tiniy lights around our outside porthole and and we had a tree with lights in our cabin.
