Um, maybe we'll be staying home today. I planned to take the kids to a museum out in Naperville. Today might not be the best day for that. :earseek:

The Dupage Children's museum? It is very close to us and a really nice museum.

So far it is not raining here. Just dark.

Today's fluffy question of the day.......

My idea of relaxing on the cruise is..................

Sitting by the ADULT pool, soaking up some sun :sunny: and reading a book while my children are enjoying the clubs. Am I dreaming or what? :rotfl2:

First of all DIS business – I wish I could keep up w/ the daily questions, but it’s just too much to even catch up w/ the reading let alone the posting (as you can see by the length of this).

Some I remember…I’m prob. bringing too many pairs of shoes and I’m the oldest of two children (my sis is 21).

Also, I’m so sorry I told you guys about the Coach Outlet (j/k) they’ll be nothing left when I get there!!! The last time I was there, there was only one or two of particular sales bags (these are the ones w/ the “take and additional…off” sign) I got a bag for $98 which is way good for a Coach. Many may find this expensive, but I have everything Coach for my everyday use (purse, wallet, palm pilot case, make-up bags, etc.) so when I can get it much cheaper than at the Coach Store or dept. stores I get excited. Price is a personal preference anyway (see for example the 11-day cruise debate on value, etc.) Anyway, I believe someone mentioned their Louis Vuitton was fake? My DBF recently bought me the real thing - a purse and wallet. He keeps bellyaching that he could’ve bought me a fake because you can’t tell the difference ... so kudos to whoever saved their house from “re-mortgage” by purchasing the knock-off ~ J/K!!!

Can’t wait for electric car info – they’re all over here in Celebration. I’m hoping after Key West, DBF and I can convince my parents that we need to buy one for the condo and keep it in the garage here : )

Now to my trip report:

Well, we (my grandma & sister) got in right on time on Saturday (about 10:30AM). I was actually in tears when I saw my parents (& my pups). Two weeks is the longest I’ve ever been away from them (I didn’t even live away at school). My dad had to go back to NJ on Sunday night & then to Houston mid-week for a business trip so he’ll be back here tomorrow night. I can’t believe this first week flew so fast. My mom and I made and re-made and re-made an itinerary but it’s just not like a regular Disney trip – it’s weird like we’re “home” but nice too the same time, I can't explain it. We have a lot planned for next week though like Typhoon Lagoon and EPCOT since my dad wants to do more of that than my mom. She has pre-cancerous melanoma so she tries not to be in the direct sun for too long [yes, she bought a condo in Fla. :rotfl: ]. Below are some things I’ve done so far other than LOTS of shopping (you think the condo is small until you try to furnish it. You spend a ton, come back unpack it and it still looks bare, but it’s getting there.) Amy, since we’ve had to shop so much I now know exactly what you mean about the Wal-Marts here. Very strange cause the one we have at home is more like the Targets down here – hmmm.

Done So far...
Saturday – Winter Summerland mini-golf
Sunday – HOB Gospel Brunch & shopping at Downtown Disney
Tuesday – Mom's b-day!!! So, Pedicures at Saratoga Springs Resort & lunch at Columbia Restaurant (a Spanish rest. here in Celebration) I recommend it highly!
Wednesday – First nice weather day … so 4 hours by our pool & then LBV Factory stores after dinner … I cleared out Character Corner :earsboy: ! I then cleaned the bathroom me and my sis are sharingat like 11:30PM...I'm a compulsive cleaner...even on vacation as you know from the "Henry" talk!!!

Today, neighbors of ours are in from NJ for the week. The 2 parents have five children ranging in ages from 1 – 8. This is their first time here and they’ve been dying to meet up. My aunt (who’s also here in her new condo here for the 4-weeks) suggested we meet them at MGM – after discussion heat + many children + first timers = DOOM so we’re gonna meet them for lunch at Beaches and Cream (which works out well since my grandma and mom don’t have park tix). As you can see I’m here w/ my family my dad & mom, her mom & sister and my sister (plus our two small dogs). It’s very stressful traveling w/ family especially since we’re all “adults” now and want to all do different things. But, we live together at home too so I guess it’s less stressful than some of you have mentioned. But, it's partly the reason my parents wanted this condo. As an escape! My dad has lived with his mother-in-law his entire married life :scared1: cause my grandpa (mom's dad) died right before my parents got married in 1978. At 49 (Mom as of Tues.) and 50 (Dad this November '05...side bar we bough him a shirt that says "50 The happiest Celebration on Earth" the timing of this shared celebration was long awaited!) they deserve this and I'm so HAPPY for them :Pinkbounc !!!!

However, I do enjoy traveling w/ just my DBF and sometimes w/ his parents & sibs who I all get along w/ very well as does he w/ my family ~ He’ll be down to join us on 8/17…can’t wait!

Sorry for the length, but I had it all up in my head and then in MS Word :bitelip: and was BURSTING to share! Off to get ready for the day ---- ahhhh the relaxed life!

It sounds like you are having a great time. :sunny:

Is that what it's called? I thought it was the "Museum in the YELLOWbuilding". At least that's what my kids refer to it as. ;) It is really nice. I remember when they were in Wheaton and how small/crowded it was then. Now, it's huge and still crowded.

That's suppose to be yellow up there.....it doesn't show up very well.

Okay... I know I caused a tizzy the last time I posted on this... :earsgirl:

Hey Mary, you mentioned you had a great inside source, so maybe you can set things straight...

I just confirmed our pick-up time at AKL on the 4th. IT's not 'til 12:30 (UGH!) You guys will all be boarded by then! Save some shrimp for me! :teeth:

I asked about the nightly events and dining rotation saying I was especially interested in Pirate night.

DVC called DCL who said...

THEY ARE PLANNING PIRATE NIGHT + FIREWORKS FOR THE NIGHT OF THE DAY AT SEA!

Of course that would mean you could watch the sunset at Key West without missing the special Pirates Dining... BUT Now I'm confused with the days.

Has anyone else heard that Pirate Night will be the Day at Sea?

Not that it's a big deal... Hey we'll be there whenever Pirate's Night is. This Type A personality would just like to know when it is! ;)

WOW it got stormy here earlier but cleared off for now.

Gail I gave Dale all the info but he has a house full of relatives right now HOPEFULLY he will squeeze in enough time to get caught up.

We are going to the lake this weekend so I am sure by Sunday evening there will be a TON of things to read up on.

Haven't heard of anyone doing their Docs Dance yet, have I missed it ? has anybody got theirs yet?

have a good day!

Might we get a bandana and eye patch at dinner on Pirate Night? Anyone who has been on a recent cruise know the answer?

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan - don't know if this has been answered for you or not. You will get a bandana at dinner. You will not get an eye patch.

I was wondering what are DVC points, and how do yu go about getting them.
I appericate any help. We are planning a trip for June 1-11, 2006, and it will
be :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: 11, :earsgirl: 9 :earsgirl: 8, :earsgirl: 5 :earsboy: 2. So we need all the tip saving advice you have. I greatly appericate any help. I love this website.

Hi angeldisney. First let me welcome you to the DIS. Lots of great people here.

DVC points are used by the Disney Vacation Club. It is Disney's version of a timeshare. You buy points and get that amount every year. You buy points at what will become your home resort and can use them there, at other DVC resorts, trade them out for stays elsewhere, or use them for special things like the DVC Member Cruise that we are all going on.

The DIS even has a separate DVC forum with a great FAQ. Click here to get to that thread.

If you are just looking at the best ways to book a Disney Cruise line vacation your best bet would be to post on the main cruise board. This thread is on the meets board which means it is a place for people already booked on a specific cruise to get to know one another.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your planning.

Hi

Question are we supposed to get docs for this cruise.

Thanks
Michele

Michele,

Yes you should get regular DCL documents for this cruise. They should be coming within the next week.

I know Steve already asked - has anyone seen theirs yet?

Mary, None here yet, I would think we would see them soon.

Georgie,

When I inquired about if we were having a Pirate night as opposed to a Tropical night I was told that we were and that it would be on Key West night. Now that doesn't mean that DCL couldn't change it.

I have read elsewhere on the boards that the fireworks need to be shot off the same day they are brought on board so it can't be a sea day.

Sunset is scheduled for 7:41 pm Monday night. I'm not sure if you have early or late seating, but to me that sounds like a great time right between the two seatings. Also JMHO but the party at night is the better part of pirate night. So if you want to party in Mallory Square for sunset and have dinner there then do it and then join the pirate party later that night.

No matter what schedule they set I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Looks like we should pull out the "Little Brown Truck" song! Ha! Ha!

None here in NJ either!

I've heard all of the above also... I only wanted to share my latest information with everyone. As I have no inside contact, I'm at the mercy of the reps...

Yes, at any rate we'll be there when it happens!

Hey Diana - my little cheerleaders are missing. Do you have them?

edited to add - oh sure I say that and then they come back! :sunny:

Where did you get this info from? We are leaving from POR and I was curious as to what time we were leaving. It's disappointing that it's so late, but hey, at least we are going!!

That would be me!! I'm proud of my fake!! I'm sure if anyone saw me pushing my stroller through the mall all flustered, they'd no that I do not carry a $800 purse!!

And yes, it's me, I stole all the smilies and I'm keeping them until the cruise!!
