Cindy - I did have to laugh at your comment last night in chat when I said you should get a notebook for Hilton Head and you came backwith "to make a list?"

I was, of course, talking about a notebook computer.

Funny thing is I always travel with a small notebook to journal in and to make notes. So I can see where that came to mind first for you. In fact I just picked up a new lime green one at WalMart yesterday. :)

Yes! That is where his office is.

I used to work in Schaumburg, right off of Martingale road. Heck, for a while, I had a part-time job also at Woodfield Mall at the GapKids. Aaahhh, the days. Now, I'm basking in the sunshine here in FL. That area around Woodfield is a MESS!!!

I though I was the only person who did this!! I always carry a small notebook, because I'm a compulsive list maker!

Have a great time in HH, Cindy!! I'm off to go tax-free shopping today. I'm hoping to get to Walmart, but ours is ALWAYS a zoo, so I know it will be even worse since there's no tax this week. Oh well, if I can't get blinkies, then I'll just have to suffer without.

My problem is that I make lists, then I forget them at home. :rotfl2:

You really need to stop this, or you'll start to have "people" :rolleyes1 showing up at your front door with their suitcases packed ready to move in! :rotfl2:

At least it's summer here, and we aren't hearing about the sunshine when it's -23 outside!

I NEED to get stuff done around here today....if only I can pry myself away long enough!!

Again, in my best Price is Right voice, COME ON DOWN!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

I know what you mean, I fear going away from this list and being behind several pages. But, since Chris is gone, I have to get a lot done today. I'm going shopping, have a haircut scheduled and I'm cutting out fabric with my mom today, so that she can do some sewing on all the fabric that we've been hoarding for so long.

I always take a small one on vacations. I put in addresses and phone numbers we may need. Keep track of car milage, receipts, etc. I also use it to jot down notes from the day that help me when I do trip reports and scrapbook my trips.

At home I use a larger 2 subject notebook. In the back I do journalling. If I'm having a bad day I write it down. If I'm having a good day I write it down. It has helped get me through some tough times. I always remember to write down my blessings as well and after I write down anything bad I always go back and read those. In the front I do all my trip planning. It is where I make my lists, keep my budgets for the trips, keep track of my DVC points etc. Again - when I'm having a bad day and vent in the back a quick trip to the front of notebook shows me I have much to be thankful for!

Ok guys we are getting into the home stretch so i think it might be time to talk about what to expect, especially for you first time cruisers.

Documents - within the next 3-4 weeks we should be getting our documents. They look like small books with sheets that tear out. It is important that your documents are filled out before walking up to the window to check in. A few things of note.

a) There is a Bahama's imigration form in there. Yes you should fill it out since Castaway Cay is in the Bahama's.

b) Credit card form. Only one adult in the party needs to fill this out. You just list who all can charge against that card.

c) Luggage tags. Put these on your luggage before heading to the ship. Unless you are flying down Sunday and going direct to the ship DO NOT put them on your luggage before you fly down.

d) Be sure before you leave home that you have taken your documents and your passports or birth certificates and picture ID.

Mary, I was still wondering about your comment. Glad you cleared that up. ;)

We've talked many times about getting a lap top. I spend a lot to time on the DIS boards, too much time in fact. I'm sure if I was able to log on while on vacation, it would take away from my relaxing/reading time that is really very precious and not something I do at home (probably because I spend too much time here :rotfl2: ).

One of these days....one of these days. At least I won't loose sleep wondering what type of notebook I should be buying. :rotfl2:

Amy, did you work in the fish tank? Zurich Insurance on Martingale? That's what we use to refer to our building before we moved into the big towers.

Thanks, Mary. These are the "real" important posts not to be missed by others. Glad I was here to print it off.

Have a safe trip Cindy, want to hear all about it when you get back!

hmm. Maybe I'll steal Mary's post for the webpage too, good idea there.

Cindy - sorry didn't mean to confuse you. Especially with how fast chat moves (and last night was extra fast as we had a very chatty group).

We've had a notebook computer for years now and it works well for us. We use it for downloading pictures from the digital camera and so we can keep in touch while on the road. Mark moderates a couple of forums on another site so it helps there as well.

I know what you mean about time to relax, read, etc. I actually do get on the notebook a lot less than I get on the computer at home.

Thanks - I'll try and think of what else was important to know the first couple times we cruised. The ones Mark thinks need to be seen more he'll upload to the web site.

Cindy, things have been real busy. I have been the only doctor since Angela has been out. I scan the boards once in a while , but that's about it. I wasn't even aware that there is a special kids thing goin on until Lisa pm'd me.
Angela is starting to come back. She is seeing some patients and tried a full day at the end of the week . She still is wearing the splint on her left foot and has some loss of feeling in the foot. I suspect that we will have to rent a scooter for her to get aroung WDW due to the loss of muscle in the leg and the recurrent pain that , Hopefully, will eventually resolve. I am debating getting a rented wheel chair for the cruise.
Bill

Bill - sorry to hear that Angela is still in so much pain.

I might be wrong but I think DCL does have a limited number of wheelchairs onboard to loan out. Of course you might want to play it safe and just rent one.

Hopefully the cruise will be helpful to her recovery. A deck chair on deck 4 is my RX.

Speaking of chatty, who all was in chat? I got the feeling that some of the others who post on this thread were there but under different names. Is that right? I need a translation book. :teeth:

That won't be a problem. I love to talk about Hilton Head. Cameron just woke up saying "I'm SO excited".

We're doing beach combing on Monday night and shark fishing on Wednesday morning. The dolphin/beach combing experiences have mostly been wonderful and always different. Last year was our first year shark fishing. Cameron caught an 80# ray, a 40# ray, a 30# ray and several 3-4 feet long sharks. Even Walker caught little ones about 1 1/2 feet. Those are definately the highlights. Other than that, we're just going to relax and go with the flow.

Maybe this year, Gary will actually get our kite flying. That seems to always be a (bad) trick for us.

:jumping1:

I'm actually posting two days in a row-this may be a new record for me as a lurker :rotfl: We used the magnetic note pad on our hurricane Jeanne shortened cruise last September. While it was originally intended as away for my sister and I to keep track of each we often found notes from fellow cruisers on it instead. We never met them or knew how many but it was fun to go back to our room and read the messages left in our absence. We bought a laptop a few years ago and can't imagine traveling without one now. Janet is a pin collector and we log on in the morning to see if any surprise pins were released during our stay. I carry a notebook with me too. It comes in handy for jotting down notes for trip reports and notes for where I've seen a souvenier I may want to go back to buy later. One of these days I'm going to have to start working on my door sign. I am getting very excited about the cruise.

Bill, I'm glad Lisa got in touch with you. I didn't realize your were not aware of the surprise. We certainly would not want the kids left out.

I'm sorry Angela is still recovering. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will be ones of great progress. :wizard:
