Sept 29th meet in Key West

Hello there,
I decided to start this thread since time is really coming up fast before it is time to get on the road - in 3 weeks Norm and I will be in Key West and then you will be there and so much to put into order before hand.

Anyhow the newspaper wants to interview some of those that come to the meet at 5PM on 9-29 at Bill Fish Pier - I believe they just want to know your feelings on what either KW lacks to offer or what can be done to make the trips more interesting. There will also be photographers there - I told the editor I would let each of you decide - it will NOT be anything political or anything that would create any problems of any sort - this will be the first time that a cruise passengers has ever been interviewed in Key West and to also have the opportunity to express feelings. I believe it is a wonderful idea myself - PaPa - would you consider being one --- I know I am going to get my 2 cents worth.

Please take my cell phone down and while you are in KW and need help - know that both Norm and I will be there to help anyway we can -321-508-2246.

Well lets put it this way - you and the cruisers will be celebrity for a day AND will be discussed for a long period afterwards - I am hoping that they will do more for children myself -

ps - many reasons am doing this but the most important part is the memories that it will create for a life time and to reflect back on many years from now and also just that the people that do visit Key West are appreciated - I am not looking for anything of this for myself - I have been known to step up to the plate more than once so that people are treated fair.

Shirley and Norm, My family and I are looking forward to our return visit to Key West. As I've mentioned we were there right after the hurricane in Oct, 98. There was still a lot of damage and clean up going on. But we had a wonderful time. At the time my kids were 1 and 8 years old. This time they will be 5 and 12 (almost) DD BD is Sept 30th. Today is Tuesday and just spoke to Ken from Ocean Key Resort where Bill Fish Pier is and where we will be meeting - he is thinking of doing something in the Jimmy Buffet theme so that each and all will really feel in the mood for a good time.
Again please advise as to how many will be making it at 5PM on the 29th.
You will have a good time and no strings attached.

Shirley, Kathy and I will be there. Do we need to wear our tropical shirts from ST. Marteen night, or just regular clothes. Here in Nashville we can tell the tourists, the ones with the cowboy boots, hats and new levi jeans Mike

Hi Mike - it is very warm in Key West and of course humitity very high - so please go as comfortable as possible - remember Key Wester's are very laid back and their clothes are very comfortable - when I was a little girl, my women family always worn sarongs, sandels or bare footed, and with a hibiscus or a frangi pangi in their hair --this was not uncommon for us, but it was to the tourist that came in town - I remember once during the late forties, President Truman came to my aunt's house for a dinner party and he was so impressed at the attires of the crowd that he made the remark - he should go back to the Little White House and change - of course he didn't.

Shirley the good thing about being that far south is you don't have to worry about the fashion police getting you for wearing white after labor day

Hi Mike - I grew up either wearing all white all year long in Key West well most of the time - we never had seasons here in Florida much less Key West - I remember so many Christmases going to the beach on a family picnic and spending the day and night in and out of the water.
Anyhow thanks again - it is going to be fun in Key West.
