Sept. 28th, 2008 - Oct. 2nd, 2008 * Wonder 4 Night *

Hi everyone,

We did not book any excursions for this cruise. What is everyone doing in Nassau? I'm looking into a submarine ride in Paradise Island and read that I can book it when we arrive through the company directly.

Did anyone make plans for CC?

My mother and I are doing the Blue Lagoon Dolphin excursion.

We have booked it thru Disney.

At CC we will most likely just be enjoying Serenity Bay:beach:

We had an interesting experience the last time we were at Castaway Cay.

We had thought we would walk out to the observation tower and have a look.

I had just made a comment that it would be nice if one of those castmembers in their little golf cart thingys would stop and offer us a ride.

Then from behind us, up comes a cast member on a cart.

He stopped and asked where we were headed and said it was a long walk did we want a ride.

Ummm, yeah sure we did.

So he drove us over to the tower and said he'd wait for us below, to take our time and if we had any questions he'd be happy to answer them for us.

After a bit he climbed halfway up and we met him on our way down.

His name was Mark and he was from Australia. He was/is a higher up crew member who actually lives on the island.

How cool is that:thumbsup2

He asked us where we were headed next and we told him that we were all headed for Serenity Bay except for my husband who was going back to the ship.

So he took us over to Serenity Bay and then he drove my husband all the way back to the ship. They drove on back roads that we as guests don't normally get to go.

It was really neat to meet him and he acted like he had all the time in the world to just drive us around the island.

I have a room booked at the Comfort Suites, but I'm questioning it now. First, if anyone else did this, I booked for the night of Tues, the 30th. Did I do that right, or am I supposed to book some kind of day rate? Anyways, I was just looking at my ressie info and am finding the small print that says we're going to have to pay an energy surcharge of $10/adult and a housekeeping gratuity of $4/adult that is paid directly to the hotel. :scared1: We're probably not even going to set foot in the room! We're booked under an LPGA/Significant Organization Savings Rate of $119 (incl tax), so that takes our total up to just over $150. My great rate doesn't look so good, now :confused3 Also, if we have a storm and can't dock in Nassau at the last minute, I lose my money, since we have to cancel before 4pm on Sunday. How often does the ship NOT get into Nassau? Is that something I need to worry about? I know my kids would enjoy seeing the aquarium and using the pools at Atlantis, though, and to book an excursion through the ship will cost us over $500 :scared1: Even just walking up to Atlantis and buying a day pass will cost $390 ($105 for adults and $75 for kids). Advice anyone?

BTW, we leave for our trip in...6 DAYS!!!

Sorry I can't help you with your Comfort Suites questions having never done it before myself.

I can tell you though that the ship rarely (if ever) misses docking in Nassau.

I think it would take a major hurricane coming thru for that to happen.

At sea: Absolutely nothing (so far)

Nassau: Discover Atlantis, I've just always wanted to see this place. Other than that, I'd like to find the standard places: Hard Rock Cafe, Harley Davidson, Rum Cake Factory, and possible have a drink at Senor Frogs.

CC: I went with the snorkel, float, and bike rental. I know it's a bit much, but it was relativleiy inexpensive to add the floats and bikes and we really have no need to buy snorkel gear otherwise. To top it all off we'll go for the cabana massage. With all that and the treasure hunt we should be exhausted by the end of the day. Let's see I know there was time in there somewhere for a Konk Kooler or two.

my morning weather check at accuweather read

Atlantic Basin quiet
Hurricane season in the Atlantic Basin peaked seven days ago and already tropical activity is declining. The Southeast and Gulf coasts aren't on alert since the Atlantic Basin lacks threatening and active weather.

Strong winds whipping from west to east across most of the basin will rip apart any tropical system that attempts to organize. These winds are forecast to relax over the Caribbean by early next week, opening the door for the tropics to turn active again.

:confused3
It sounds good - right up until the last sentence.
"early next week"

The weather for Orlando for our pre cruise days (Tu. 9/23 - Sun embarkation) looks good. Mid 80's with a few showers.
Not the cluster of thunder storm icons.
Those tstorm icons make me sad.:scared:

I know not to rely too much on the weather forcast.
Just eager to get packing
:laundy:

Hi everyone!

We still don't have any docs yet.:confused3 I know its fine and I've done everything online, but I like to get those docs in hand to make it feel more real. :goodvibes

All of my FE gifts are done and ready to go, and my mom is putting the finishing touches on all of our extenders. This is our 3rd cruise, but is the first time we've participated in the exchange. I am really looking forward to it, and to the meet.

See you all in just over a week!:cool1:

It's starting to warm up here - beautiful Spring days but our Winters are relatively mild! So looking forward to exposing the legs and arms again :)

I had my last day of work today for 4 weeks and I'm 90% packed with 38 hours until we fly out :cool1:

So if I don't speak to you all again on the forum I'll see you in the Promenade Lounge at 3.00pm - safe travels!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S FINALLY HERE! :yay: :woohoo:

Look out America the Aussies are coming :cheer2:

P.S. do you think we can have our dollar back at the rate it was a month ago please?

I'm with you - drinks and laying down around the water - we have snorkling equipment, so we may do some of that. First time to Nassau, so we are not planning anything but looking around (the straw market) and then back to the ship to enjoy activities.

churros have a safe flight
i can not belive 1 week to go:banana: :woohoo:  :woohoo:
i can taste my cold drink please dont flame me but i prefur the tropical depression over the konk cooler on CC i really like them when they 2 for 1 at the end of the day:goodvibes

Safe travels to everyone! We leave in 7 days! I guess its time to start packing!

Still no docs, but I refuse to stress over it!

Dreaming of the horn blast, an ice cold beverage in hand, and seeing the reactions of my extended family when they experience all of their magical DCL 'firsts'. My kids know most all the secrets by now, and even they are so excited to share it all with their young cousins. Can't wait!!

See you all in the Promenade Lounge at 3pm next Sunday!!!:cool1:

Don't like the looks of this.

I wonder how quickly these storms move.

Hopefully it will not head in the direction we want to go.

jesters, I think you meant to meet on Sunday. I'd love it if we were already on the ship on Saturday except our plane doesn't get in that early;)

Cruisin,

I guess my brain is already on vacation! :upsidedow I edited to say 'Sunday'! Thanks!

I checked out the link. I read about this on weather.com and it says that the associated winds are expected to keep it from becoming too orgazined. Lets hope they are correct and nothing materializes. :goodvibes
