Sept. 27, 2012 Disney Dreamers on the Dream

Here is what I understand for the 3-night cruise dinner dress:
1st night - Casual
2nd night - Pirate night pirate:
3rd night - Dress up night (not formal) princess:

Hope this helps.

We will probably dress in cocktail attire for dress up night - we like to dress up! :thumbsup2

Helps a lot with packing. Thanks

Got a scare last weekend. Our son caalled and said he was getting married in September. After our heart attacks he said it was in 2013.

Bill

That was a stroke of luck!!!

Although you can always have convinced them to get married on board the ship ;)

We will be joining you on this cruise. My hubby and I did Magic Eastbound transatlantic in 2011 for our first disney cruise, and were hooked. We're bringing daughter, her hubby, granddaughters ages 23 months, 4, and 9 year olds, for their first disney cruise. I know it's not listed as a formal night, but my hubby decided he wanted to dust off his tux, with the disney themed vest and tie. Since we live in Orlando, we can haul a lot of stuff to the ship we normally wouldn't bring. What I learned on that 2 week cruise, was anything goes on a disney cruise. We also have the little ones decked out for pirate night, and my daughter just showed me her costume. Since I wasn't preparing for a formal night or a costume for pirates night, I better start catching up with the rest of my family.

Welcome Jackie:)

We also did a TA , last year and loved every single minute of it.
I think we will also be dressing up smartly as we don't get to put nice dresses on very often.

Ok I'm going to volunteer to organise a Fish Extender Exchange for our cruise. I have participated in one before but not organised one so please bear with me :rotfl:

What's an FE? For those of you who aren't familiar with the fish extender exchange, here are a few post links which explain it all:
FE 101. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33184281&postcount=2
and
FE INFO. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

If you are interested in joining the FE exchange for our Dream cruise, please send me an email at disneydreamsept2012@yahoo.com. In the email send me your stateroom number, Disboard name, first name of each person in the stateroom, relationship to you (DH, DW, DP, DD, DS, DM, etc.) including ages and gender of children.
Example:-
Stateroom #-
DisBoard Name -
First Name -
Age -
First Name -
Age -

Group size will depend on how many people we have sign up, but we will have a cut off date in September for FE participants that want to make their gifts but do not want to run out of time.

Once I get confirmation from interested people I will send out a spreadsheet to all those participating and keep updated where necessary (hopefully :confused3 )

If you haven't ever cruised before or not participated in an FE exchange, give it a go, it's lots of fun and there is nothing quite like arriving back at your cabin to find a surprise gift in your Fish Extender! :cool1:

Greetings, fellow Dreamers! Hi, I'm Kelly or The SweetPee. I'll be sailing with my better half, Tracey. We both have names that can be male or female so we're used to being mixed-up by others. Heehee!

I got a phone call late Saturday night from Mickey telling me he'd be seeing me real soon in the Bahamas! Woot! The old man booked just the 2 of us on this short cruise as a surprise for our anniversary (actually on 9/18 but our oldest son has an important doctor's appointment on the 20th that we can't miss). Poor hubby thought when he put in the request for the phone call that it'd take a few days. Nope, it was a matter of minutes before my phone was ringing. :cool1:

Soooooo, this will be our 2nd adventure on the Dream, 3rd on DCL. In addition to this cruise I have 2 more booked next year. I guess we like cruising with Mickey. A little. :upsidedow

Don't think I'll jump in on the FE this go around. For those that haven't done it before, it's fun! Making an FE isn't hard, either. I made ours for our last cruise (5-night Magic in May). Here's a pic for inspiration:

file.jpg

It was fun to find out we were booked/paid-in-full and be able to jump right onto DCL's website to do the online check-in! I've already been playing with our bookings. The hubs keeps saying, "Book anything you want. Don't worry about the cost." Ugh! Me being Miss Practical that's hard to do, tho. As much as I think we'd enjoy hitting up Atlantis for a few hours in Nassau (we did the Aquaventure with our boys in May & loved it) I think we'd rather spend the time exploring all the bits of the ship we didn't get to on our first cruise a year ago. Plus, for the cost, I could almost buy 2 annual passes at our local Schlitterbahn! :scratchin I did book us dinner at Palo & Remy. We've done all 3 main dining rooms & only Palo brunch on the Magic. I want to try both for dinner! Don't have to worry about our pirate attire since we'll be at Palo that night. Maybe I'll look for the hubby a pirate-themed button-up shirt just to be silly. :p I also booked us cabana #19 at Serenity Bay/Castaway Cay since it's our 19th anniversary. Woot! Now THAT is something I'm absolutely itching to experience!

What's everyone else got planned??? Or planning to book??? I realize the first-timer's aren't quite able to book yet.

I see someone has headed up the FE list. Do we want to shoot for any meets? We could start discussing that, as well.

Also, as it gets closer to our cruise maybe we could post some pics of ourselves so we'll recognize each other. That's worked well for us in the past!:cutie:

I'm psyched! What a fantastic hubby I have! :lovestruc

Anyone else staying at the MCO Hyatt the night before the cruise? Our flight isn't scheduled to arrive until 9:30 so unless there's other night-owls staying at the same hotel I doubt I'll be meeting any of you pre-cruise. This will be our first time flying in for a cruise so that's our plan. When our family of 4 cruises we generally will drive all the way from Texas. Even after gas, food, and paying to park it comes out a huge savings over buying 4 round-trips. :crazy2:

So this will be our first time utilizing DCL transfers. And not being able to pick up/carry our booze-of-choice onboard. Bummer. We're still discussing whether or not to bubble-wrap a couple bottles & put them in our checked bag. That's a pretty scary thing to do considering the abuse the checked bags take. Ugh!

:welcome: Kelly

You sound as though you are very excited about the upcoming cruise :cool1:

I am Annemarie and my DP Hazel and we are doing this cruise midway through our WDW holiday as we are from the UK, so a good way to combine the two.

This will be our 2nd Disney cruise and very excited to see the Dream for the first time.

We will be driving to PC on the morning of the cruise, check in done a couple of weeks ago and have an 11am arrival time.

We are not doing any excursions or special dinners on this cruise and we want to be able to see as much of the ship as possible. I would've loved to have done a Palo brunch, but unfortunately these are not available on cruises under 4 nights

I'm not sure if a meet up will happen, I am in the process of trying to get an FE exchange underway.

Thanks, Annemarie! Wonderful to meet new friends! I'm definitely pumped for this cruise ~kid free~! Somebody shoot me now, I'm gonna escape my teenagers!!! ((We homeschool so that happens veeeery rarely. :crazy2:))

Your adventure all the way from the UK sounds like a heckuva good time. How long will be on vacation total??? Last September we did a 2 week trip: 5 nights at WL + 3-night Dream + 6 nights at the YC. Talk about bliss! That was our first cruise. When we got to the YC we were sad in a way wishing we were still on our wonderful ship. We did zero excursions or specialty dining during the 1st cruise because we wanted to explore the ship. In May this year we went on our 2nd cruise to celebrate DH's 40th bday; Magic 5-night that stopped in Key West. We went to WDW for 2 nights pre-cruise and spent the day before at Typhoon Lagoon. That was a great kick-off, too. During the Magic cruise we did a private sea plane tour in Key West, Atlantis Aquaventure in Nassau, Palo brunch, and parasailing on CC. Our 14 yro did the teen excursion on CC, too. What an exciting trip that was!

Have you had a good response on the FE? I noticed this thread was kinda quiet but wasn't sure if this was one that was active via FB. I don't FB so if it's not shakin' here at the Dis I won't know. LOL! If you're having a hard time stirring up FE participants I could revisit the idea of it again. I hate to commit on our stateroom because, to be honest, I'm really hoping we can score a port upgrade like we did on our Magic cruise. I hate being a pain in the rear having to let everyone know last minute that we switched.

We should try to do at least 1 quick meet early on, maybe on embarkation day before the muster drill or something. I'm trying to think where would be a good place to do that.

I'm super excited, like you said! More friends is always right up our alley! :wave2:

My wife and I did the 2010 Westbound Transatlantic. Incredible journey!! Ranks up there with the 11-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise from 2006 that we took. We actually prefer the longer cruises. Gives you a chance to actually relax. We are traveling with 6 other people on this cruise, including my nephew. We are celebrating his 9th birthday and his 3rd Disney cruise!! My wife's birthday will be on Castaway Cay day. What a wonderful place to celebrate a birthday!!!

We are away for 2 weeks in total, cannot wait! 69 days and counting :cool1:
We sailed on the Magic last year and that is when we were hooked on cruising. I just hope we love the Dream as much as we love the Magic.

So far we haven't had any interest in the FE:confused3. Yes this thread is very quiet which is very different from our TA thread last year. I did start a fb group a few weeks back but there are only 3 of us on there.
Maybe this just isn't going to be a very busy cruise, who knows :confused3

I can carry enough excitement to go around though :rotfl2:

Finally got to check-in online and book 2 excursions. Didn't expect an early check in but got a 11:00am time. I figure it takes about an hour or more to get to the pier from WDW.

A meet at embrakation sounds like a good idea. We might be interested in the FE. FB seems to be picking up. I keep checking both trying to keep up with every one
