Maybe this doesn't belong in Trip Reports since technically I have a question as well as a general statement on my trip..but if it belongs somewhere else, please feel free to move. Thanks!!!
We just returned yesterday from our 3rd annual visit to DW and the lovely Grand Floridian Resort and it was far less magical overall than our previous 2 visits. A perfect example when we checked in was that we were given a 5th floor room in Conch Key which had no Balcony so we called to merely ask...not even request...but ask if there was a room available somewhere else with a balcony since we love it so much. They were quite snippy and the thing that was irritating was that they told me they had already upgraded me and wouldn't do anything else to help me...but they didn't upgrade me..I paid for and go a Lodge Tower Room....no upgrade. When I pointed that out over the phone and reminded them I was just checking, they proceeded to inform me that I was getting a benefit with vaulted ceilings so they didn't understand my request. Ugh. I still didn't 'expect' them to help me but for them to be so incredibly snippy and use incorrect information as a reason to not even entertain our request..that was disheartening from our favorite home away from home. Thus, that was our last stay at the lovely, but recently crabby GF. The rest of the week was met with similar attitudes from all cast members. This was such a shock because our first 2 years have been so amazing there. The people, the places, everyone. Going out of their way to say hello princess to my DD, to the smiles on their faces...I bragged so much about the place. And wow, was it different this year. But, I do have to give a shout out to the PhotoPass photographer who did our photo shoot...Bob...he was AMAZING though....unbelivable pics.
The monsoon on Tuesday was a disappointment for the MNSSHP but we just exchanged them for Thursday tickets and made a wonderful night of it.
But here's my question......what's with all the people. In our previous 2 trips, we went the week after Labor Day and it was EMPTY...but this year..wow...so many people. Part of our love of September trips is the lack of crowds, but with the exception of the Halloween Party, there were SO MANY PEOPLE. Does the Food and Wine Festival really bring out so many people. We spent the bulk of our time in MK..and especially over the weekend, but I have to imagine that this is what the summer is like. I was thankful for the offseason discounts so hard to complain about the crowds, but if there's something I am missing, please let me know. I would like to avoid that week again if it's seasonal..wow..so many people.
The dinner at Citricos was super delicious and the staff were so nice. I can't wait to eat there again.
All in all, the characters were magical for my DD and the smile on her face at all the shows, the rides, the characters and the new and revisited experiences makes it a trip to not miss, but still, the glitter was a bit tarnished and I am hoping a change of home base will change that right up for us.
More detailed soon..but wanted to find out about the crowd level and just express how much being back in reality is seriously the worst. Post Disney depression is the hardest to overcome.
Best to all.
