Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

On a completely different topic, my 15th wedding anniversary is Thursday. We've already discussed that our trip is going to be our gift to each other, but I still wanna do something besides going out to dinner. Maybe a small gift?

Any ideas?

Platinum Patron.

You can get it for about $200 a bottle on the islands.
It is $39 a shot on board.

If you get the bottle it is crystal. Bring a Sharpie and I will sign it for you.

You know the 15th anniverasy is officially Crystal

:rotfl: Sorry to disappoint you, Bananastwo, but the Netherlands is as flat as it can be, and besides it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Not really Sound of Music-like, unfortunately.
But Europe is absolutely worth visiting! A lot to see and experience :cool2:

(Sorry Goofieslonglostsis, I don't mean to offend your beautiful village :love2:)

Oh, I'll get you back for that one. :rolleyes1

Oh no, not again...

Yep, my door has got some serious Korsakoff. This was (one of) the last time though. If it happens again, they will replace it's memoryprint all together.

Everyday that I read this thread I get more excited about cruise:cool1::yay:.
Can't wait to meet everyone. Would like to thank everyone who organized everything , it takes alot of work. Sounds like u all will be making our first cruise an excellent one and one to remember.
Should I talk to the CM or somebody else about trying to treat my wife special for the trip? (2 year cancer survivor and our 10 yr anny.) She is also having sugery to remove a screw from a broken hip on the 19th of this month. Man she really is something else.
fourgonefishn

Good luck for her on the op! Don't know what the CM's can help out with, but maybe it's an idea to have something in the stateroom waiting for her when you board? Unless she also checks your reservation online, you could easily arrange that through the DCL-website.

He's doing better. No fever today yay!!! Thanks for asking.

That's good news! :thumbsup2

When does school start for all of you?

I am SO worried about telling their schools (one in elementary and one in middle school) that we are taking this trip.

Anyone else have school issues?

Ansley starts Kindergarten on the 17th, and I, too am worried about telling the school. Apparently, our county is very strict and, because she is missing 6 days I will get a letter from the principal and, if she misses 4 more days for the entire year, the school will call DFACS. I guess this will be the last time that we ever get to take advantage of non-peak cruise rates.

Good to hear!!

As to my weekend, after my fun-filled night out on the town on Saturday, I had to put DH and DD on a plane to SD for the next week. :sad1: DH's family lives in South Dakota, and they've been clammoring for us to visit for a couple years now...but we've been too busy going to Disney. We used to visit them every year but, after we went to Disney in 2007, we both decided that, at least for right now, we would prefer making our vacation memories at Disney instead of South Dakota. So, anyway, we used our frequent flyer miles to book DH and DD a flight and, since this is the first time I've ever been away from them, it's rough. The house is soooooooo quiet!! :sad2:

Oh, and to make matters even better, we are preparing for trial, so, instead of working my normal schedule of Wednesday-Friday, I have to work Monday-Friday for the next 2 weeks. :headache:

Well, I hope that everyone has a great day today! :grouphug:

Where in SD? Our traveling party has some SD connectiosn.

I was born in Yankton, although I have only been back once since I was about three. My DH best friend (whose family is sailing with us) did a fair amount of growing up in Mitchell and still heads up that way to see relatives on a regular basis.

Holy cow (!!!) Mitchell is exactly where Randy is visiting (isn't the Corn Palace grand?). Both his mom's side and dad's side of the family, as well as brother, live in Mitchell. Randy grew up outside of Mitchell, but did go to high school there (and he's still close with a couple of his high school friends). Small, small world, right? If I were a betting person, I bet that Randy knows, or knows of, the people traveling in your party. Mitchell is still such a typical small town...although they did get a Wal-Mart a couple years ago, so they are growing.

That is a good combination, with work being more busy when DH and TB are gone for the first time. I can imagine the home being conspiciously quite. How long are they going to be away? And for the meanwhile, just keep bugging us, freinds and plan for the cruise and before you know it you'll find yourself wondering where the time has gone.

Wow what a small world.

Our friend is a Hildebrand and his mom's side of the family are the Scott's. I think that he moved away when he was about 12 (give or take), but like I said he goes back on a regular basis. Usually coinciding with pheasant season.

I have been to Mitchell one time just to see the Corn Palace. My mom & I were driving from Mt. Rushmore to Yankton with the kids. I figured it was probably one of the few times that we would be that close and it would be a shame to miss it. :thumbsup2

Hi all. I was curious about your thoughts on moving from a Cat 9 Porthole room on Deck 2 to a Cat 8 porthole room on Deck 5, 6, or 7. Worth the $200 for convenience or not really. I'm thinking no. But just wondering if anyone thought there was a difference. Still can't justify the $800 for the verandah room. But I'm really wracking my brain on what I can do to get that room. Time to check the jewelry box and sell some gold. ;)

Daisy: So glad to see that Bailey is feeling better.

Julie: We start school around here on August 31st, and I too am scared to talk to the teachers. But from what I understand, up here, if I prove that I can make this an educational trip, it will still be absensces, but they can be excused. We'll see what kind of BS I can pull together to convince the school police that going on a Disney cruise is educational. I've already pulled together: learning about different cultures, sea life, maritime/boating (think simulator), and geography. :teacher:

It might be best not to do this upgrade. Most of us are on those decks, which would mean no rest what so ever. :lmao: At least now you can go down to deck 2 when tired of all of us and get a break. ;)

No seriously, unless deck choice is important to you I personally would not do such an upgrade.

Yeah, tell me about it. Last night was sooooo bizarre because the house was so silent. I will probably buy a couple of books that I've been meaning to read and will put a few chick-flicks on Netflix, so, hopefully, I'll make it through. And, yes, no doubt I will be DIS-ing it like crazy. They will be gone exactly a week, so I will be picking them up next Sunday. :yay:

Ahhhh, yes. Randy has spent many a season hunting the pheasants. :thumbsup2

If it were me, I don't think that I'd splurge for the upgrade to a Cat. 8 either. However, if you were seroiusly considering a verandah, I would tell you that verandahs are seriously heavenly, and that *might* be worth the extra money to you. However, something else to keep in mind: I've heard that you can get extreme discounts if you upgrade at the port...although typically upgrade availability is limited. :thumbsup2

Ana, if you can afford it go ahead! Deck Two is soo low so you might hear the engine starting in early am, especially at ports. I've had friends whom traveled on that floor and they hated it. Just my two cents. Personally, I always go for a verandah, love having my own little haven. 6 or 7th deck might be the best, less motion of the ship. Whatever feels right just do it!

I agree.....I love the verandahs....:love::love:

How many people decided to dress up for Pirate Night? I have been putting off buying our outfits until after the wedding. By then the party stores will have Halloween outfits out. We always dress up, but just wanted to see what the majority of our group was doing.

Have a great Monday....I am busy with work, wedding and cruise plans!!! (not necessarily in that order :rotfl:)
