Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

Checking up on kids and their families is a big value. But to be honest, I find it so dumb to do this based upon a number of days absent. Judge the kid on how he/she looks, acts, the things they say and do. That should tell you a lot more than just the days they are missing.

We're having some of the same problems, though. Had some very sad incidents in the last years and since, some CPS-workers go overboard and act upon the most innocent of things.

Well, I hate to say it, but here in the States, their concern seems to be driven more by the mighty dollar than anything because (at least in my county) schools get money from the State based on the daily attendance records. So, if kids are absent from school, that decreases the school-wide attendance and thus lowers their State funds. Sad, but true.

Hi all. Just sitting here at work taking a mental sanity break and wishing it was September. I so need this cruise with the stress of the divorce and now the stress of covering two positions at work. My boss retired and I am handling both spots until we can officially promote me and hire a new assistant. Its already been a long April. I may not last until September without having a nervous breakdown.
SEPTEMBER HURRY!!!!!!!!!

SEPTEMBER HURRY!!!!!!!!!

Hey there,

Sorry to hear your struggling. Take deep breaths, and know that September will be here before you know it!!! Looking at cruise pics always helps me when I'm itching to do DCL!!! ;)

Yeah, me too! Although, in my quest for getting the best deal, we are having to pull TB out of school and, one of the teachers at her school that I've become friendly with told me that, for pulling her out of school for 6 days, we will be receiving a note from the principal and, if she misses 4 more days for the remainder of the school year, the school is required to call DFACS. :sad2:

CRAZY, right? I'm not worried about battling DFACS over this issue, but I hate the thought that she's going to be on the "bad" list all year. Oh well, it's only Kingergarten.

Wow, Crystal, that is a bit much, especially when you give them the reason for where you will be. We cruise off season as well, but this year will probably be it for us as dd14 will be in high school next year, and I don't think they'll be as pleased with us being gone so long. Our kids will be missing two (:scared1:) weeks of school this Sept as we opted for the free dining a week before as a last minute add on. :) I'm just hoping some of the teachers will cooperate and give us some homework in advance so the kids won't be too terribly behind when we return.

The things we do for Disney!!:lmao:

I just came upon this thread again after a long while. DH & I were booked on this cruise but we had to cancel. DH's company is shutting down at some point this year so no DCL for us for now. I wish were still joining you guys. Have a wonderful cruise!

I just got an idea. Since dh and I are hitting the Wonder in a few weeks for some much needed r&r, I thought I would see if anyone out there on our thread would like me to mail your kiddos a "see you real soon" postcard/letter at Castaway Cay???? Consider it an "early" fe gift. lol :rotfl2:

Hi, thank you for your very kind offer. I sent you a PM with our address. :lovestruc Enjoy your cruise. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear you're going to such a rough situation. I hope it'll all work out for your family.

The FE list has been updated! We are still missing some info from 3 families.

If everyone could also check the ages of their children and make sure they are the ages of the time we cruise. Some of those are from over a year ago and I want to make sure they are all accurate.

Hey all... Checking in. I like you all need this cruise. We usually go somewhere in the winter but did not happen this year. The cruise is are one big trip.

I just found out my 2009 Cruise Passporter book shipped so I got that to look forward to.

We are staying at Coranado Springs for 2 nights after the cruise. We've never been there before....is it nice? We normally stay at Shades of Green, but we were able to get a military discount, so we decided to try something different.

NutzaboutDisney - my kids would be thrilled to get a postcard from CC, but I don't have enough posts to PM yet (this makes 5), so I'll be posting lots in the next few days & then will get your their names & addy. Thanks so much for offering this!!!!!

Thanks for doing this!

We did Coronado Springs many many years ago when for dh's first trip before we were married. It was nice. We didn't spend much time in the room then, but I remember the one pool area being kind of cool and everything went smoothly! :)

Not a problem, just pm me when you can. We've got another week and one half before we fly out! :thumbsup2 I am anxiously, anxiously waiting...for PALO, and pirates, and mickey hooray!!! :rotfl2:

Hello everyone!!!

What a beautiful weekend!!! 80+ degrees. Almost as good as being in the Caribbean-but not quite.

Boy am I glad we are doing the Eastern Cruise and not the Western Cruise becouse of whats going on in Mexico (Swine Flu). I wonder if DCL will stop going to Cozumel for a while? As we all know DCL is a very safety first. That's why I keep going.
