ok..first there is pirate night. So I got DD a pirate costume, and found something for Gringo to wear. For me..I'll have to make do with the bandana eyepatch and earring. And then for formal night, I went out and got a princess dress for Channi and Gringo is willing, reluctantly to wear a dinner jacket. (he refused to wear a tie though). For me, I'll have to reach in the far back of the closet and see what I can come up with that isn't too faded or worn.

And now there is a tropical night too??

And I figured we would have to get a little dressy or wear something cute for the embarkment photo, so I'm going to buy matching shirts for us all.

Oh...my POOOR credit card!

(my smilies are still missing)

I was searching the Passporter discussion board and found another one!

(I'm putting out a search and rescue for my smilies (icons))

Ingrid- If I understand this correctly, Disney replaced tropical night with pirate night. So there is no longer a tropical night. Your credit card will be just fine now! :cool1:

I totally can't believe how close the cruise is getting! What am I going to do on all my spare time afterwards? Right now all my spare time is going towards planning and research of this crazy vacation!

Still searching for pirate night costume.

See ya. Deanna

Last fall, we had the Pirates In The Caribbean party and there were lots of people in tropical themed clothes like Hawaiian shirts, bright colors, etc. Not too many in pirate costumes (except for the bandannas they gave out which everyone wore, of course). I totally forgot about the glow necklaces/jewelry. Gotta add that one to my list.

Oooh, and forgot to mention. If you have little ones that get scared easily, they probably won't like it during the party when Captain Hook and his pirates "take over" the ship. It's very loud with fake lightning and thunder. My 6 yr. old dd cried, which was totally out of character for her. She also didn't like the "Who wants to be a pirate" activity at the kids' club. Hook just freaked her out, I guess.

Bailey did NOT like Captain Hook at all! Or the Queen of Hearts. Those were the 2 characters that she wouldn't come within a 15 foot radius of!

I think the tropical stuff will be great on Pirate Night, you'll look great! No one will look like a "goob" (too funny, Erin) I am still working on making a pirate t-shirt for my husband to wear. I'm hoping it will be funny enough that he will wear it.

Erin - I love the idea of using family members' maiden names for middle names. We were going to do that with my maiden name for Jack's middle name, but it didn't sound right or flow well at all. And we were set with "Jack" as a first name. So we went with my Dad's first name - Charles - instead. I love the name Charlie for a little boy. Also, I am curious as to what your boy names would have been!

Ok, now I am worried about Dennis. Was he supposed to be gone for this long? I hope he isn't in the hospital again! Dennis, where are you?!? :listen:

p.s. Everyone - don't forget about all of the eye patches and earrings I have for you to complete your pirate/topical look!!!!!! pirate:

We're baaaaack.......Not sure we were able to swing this cruise, but when it came to the final payment we just sucked it up and said we'll pay it off somehow. We just got back from 10 days at WDW, it is so much fun there. DD is still looking at colleges in FL...want's to go to UCF. Her mom wants her there too but not yet she is only 17 so she can go to college around here for a little while.
I have had a lot of fun lurking around these boards....reading all the posts I feel lile I know all of you already.

We are Jeff, Cindy, Kayte 17, Bonnie 15, and Tara 10. The girls are hoping there will be someone out there to hang with, besides their crusty old ma and pa :).

Anyway now that I know we are a go...... Ill be joining in the posting.
Talk to you all soon.
Cindy :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Cindy - Yea! I'm glad that you all are going to be cruising with us! We are Clint, Julie, Bailey(5) and Jack (2). Good luck with the college decisions, I can't even get my mind around that one. Kindergarten is almost too much for us right now!

Deanna,
I think I have a solution to your problem! Book another cruise! Then you can start planning for the next cruise before this cruise even starts! :cool1:

Believe it or not, guys but even though we have never cruised before I know that we are going to have a blast, and I've been talking to DH and telling him this won't be the ONE and ONLY! And he agrees. However, the second time probably will be years away I think that will help me get through the post-cruise blues on October 1.

I'm so glad I don't have to shop for tropical clothes. I was just thinking I would look rather silly wearing a banana and pineapple hat.

Hi goofygirl! :wave2:

ErinC: You were typing while I was typing.

We also already bought Tropical clothes prior to Pirate night. We will wear these with our Bandana's, eye patches and earrings (courtesy of Julie). I may even try to get away with some olive green capri's and a tropical shirt. Heck if people are in costume who's going to even notice. To bad I can't wear my tropical print thongs... :rotfl2:

I say go with what you have, unless you want to go pirate :goodvibes

Good! I'm so glad that we won't be the only tropical people there! I got these outfits at Hilo Hattie's outlet in Orlando at the mall. (on our emergency WDW trip in May! ;) I got really good deals on them, but if we don't end up wearing them, it won't be a good deal at all. I wore DH's shirt to Luau night at Bible camp, won't he be happy that I already broke it in for him. :teeth:

I forgot to respond earlier to the early to school comments. Yes August 9th is early, Pensacola started the 2nd (ugh). They have been on this schedule for a few years now. The kids get out around the 20th of May. We didn't get out until May 26th this year, because we had to make up 6 days of school because of Hurricane Ivan. (they were actually out for 2 weeks)

Kids names- lets see, if Briley would have been a boy, she would have been Colton Sawyer, Holland would have Baylor ? , but we found out she was a girl, so no further on a middle name. I always just "knew" that Addison was a girl so I didn't even think about names until after the ultrasound confirmed it was a girl. The first time that I asked DH if he liked the name "Addison" he said it sounded like a boy. So I waited about a month and then asked him again, and he said he liked it! So I guess it could have gone either way. Everytime I call the DR. they always refer to Holland and Addison "when is his Birthday?' I always correct them. Anyway, I also like Holden, Thayer(my sisters personal fav.)

Well gotta run, taking the kids swimming on one of our last days of summer....

I like your boy names too. My friend has a little girl named Addison, and that's the first one I have known so I think of it as a girl name! :flower: Hope you have a fun swimming day! :sunny:

Hi Everyone, me and my husband and our 3 year old daughter are going to be on this cruise. Hoping to meet a few people on line that my daught might get to meet before going to Club. She love to play with others but a first a little shy.

Happy Thursday Everyone,

Welcome Cindy & Marsha
We are Kim & Warren DD9 (almost 10) & DD11.

Great Names ErinC, we also knew an girl Addison.

Another scorcher out here today 103* :sunny:

That Carribean is calling my name :bounce:

Last time we cruised 2 years ago my youngest wouldn't go near Capt Hook either, but she now LOVES pirates of the carribean so she is looking forward to the pirate night.

Ingrid, you're all good with Tropical :teeth:

Smiling mouse, lets just hope she can keep her momentum going :Pinkbounc .

See ya all Monday,
Leaving tomorrow for a little weekend road trip,
Have an awesome weekend,

p.s. Where is Dennis???

I can't believe we are getting closer, I need to start thinking about what to bring.

I will get some stuff for the Captian Hook, pirate: night and tell my daughter about him maybe it will help her.

Thanks for the Welcome. ::MickeyMo

We're back

Disneyland was wonderful :goodvibes If anyone can make it to the 50th Birthday celebration, definitely try and go. We had a 3 Day park hopper from the Southern California City Pass system and it just wasn't enough time for DL. We were glad for the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld passes, though. They were definitely a good combo deal.

DS 19mo favorite ride was Pirates of the Carribean he keeps saying "go again" and "yo ho"

Just finished reading the 10+ pages to catch up. haven't even checked the main board yet. I'm picking up pictures today and only have a couple of loads of laundry left. :upsidedow

Julie and Ingrid: Emma says to please tell Bailey thanks for the card and to tell Chantel, "my new Canadian friend" thanks for the picture. She knew right away that it was the Disney Cruise with Minnie on board. You should be receiving cards from her soon.

Welcome Cindy & Marsha :wave2:

Hope Dennis is fine.

We've got tropical outfits, too. I made t-shirts for DH and kids' first Disneyland visit and now he wants Pirate shirts and embarkation shirts. I'm also making new magnets.

Kindergarten starts for us on the 22nd. Uniforms and supplies are bought, just need new shoes. :Pinkbounc

DH rented "Hitch" before we left and we really enjoyed it, too.

Finished HP on the flight to San Diego.

hope all is well with everyone. :wave2:

Hi, Marsha! I'm going to have to warn Bailey about Captain Hook as well!

bpicard9- It sounds like you had a great trip! I bet you are really excited for the cruise even more now that you had a taste of Mickey. ::MickeyMo Glad you are back safely. We look forward to Emma's card!

Ok, you all got me wondering about the Harry Potter books. I was at the Half-Price bookstore the other day - I could just LIVE there - and I saw a big display of half-price HP books. I bought the first one, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and I finished it in one night. Hello, my name is Julie, and I am a Harry Potter fan. Are the movies as good as the books? Usually, this is not the case, but who knows?

Well a big 'ol Kansas howdy :wave2: to Marsha and Cindy. We've been waiting a long while for some new people to join this group! We are glad to have ya. The more the merrier. Our family consists of DH36, me36, DS11 and DD8. We are also traveling with my sister-in-law (40), and her two children DD(10) and DS4. My sister-in-law's husband died at 38 of colon cancer. So we like to have her join us on vacations too. We love having them around. What state are you all from? Read this thread if you have time. Let us know if you are interested in joining a stingray city group. Or joining us in our DIS group for late seating dinner.

Dennis Dennis Dennis. He is probably on top of Mount McKenley right now. Mr. Adventuresome. Maybe he has gone to collect our souvenirs for the DIS party! :rotfl:

Didi- What did we decide on the DIS party? Last I knew it was on deck 9 or 10 around 3 p.m. Is this correct? :grouphug:

If anyone is interested in scuba diving at Key West, please let me know.

We are headed to the lake again this weekend. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Catch ya later! Welcome again to the newbies, Marsha and Cindy. Keep typing as usually we lose the newbies after their first post. Someone on this board must have bad breath and they are scaring all the newbies away!

See ya. Deanna

To those of you who have cruised with Disney before............did you previously hook up with a DIS group online before going? Or is this your first time to join the DIS? Deanna
