Hi Didi! :wave2: Welcome aboard Matey ... Good to have another one along who speaks "the Queen's English". Congratulations on the Baton!!! :wizard:

David - That was almost "evil" that way you passed off the BVP Baton. :rotfl: You know, of course, that puts Didi in line for the "special Alaska gift"? And she has got such a "high regard" for your character :rotfl:

Thanks for the offer of NE nourishments but I have family members spread all over New England (Topsfield MA, Amesbury MA, Whitefield NH, Portland ME) and that is just brothers & sister. Make trips to NE to distribute halibut and smoked salmon and sometimes meat (moose, caribou, reindeer) in exchange for the "essentials" of home. Will be there sometime in late July if my schedule stays as is ....

Are you guys Uppities or Lowlies? This is very important with respect to the assignment of iceberg collision safety drills!!! :rotfl:

Well, it is time for my morning constitutional ... If anyone wants to join me on the walking deck, it will probably be about 0630 each morning ... depending upon the previous evening's festivities.

Later

Dennis

Good morning everyone!

It's nice to see the all the family love!

Dennis- I may be joining you on the running track, but I'm not quite sure about 6:30 - a.m.!?! :teeth:

Good Morning Dennis and Julie and of course the rest who have welcomed me on board :sunny:

As you can see from my early morning posting before 6:00 AM, I would be up for the early morning walk. :goodvibes Anyone for 5:15 AM? :Pinkbounc I'm up with the birds.

Dennis, I've read that you are a cribbage player. Are you on for a game? I'll be kind an let you win one game. pirate:

David, I still love you....

I stole the PassPorter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line from my 8 year old. :rolleyes1 He's been reading it and I had to promise to give it back to him. :earboy2: He wants to do some of the planning, it must run in the genes.

Got to go now and work.

:wave2:

:cool1: Didi - Okay 5:15 am Was usually at work at 0530 ...

 Julie - Okay Just pick a time. Chrystina  tends to sleep later than I do ... So anything that keeps me from bothering her works. Except multiple breakfasts ... :teeth:

DIDI ~ Are you actually implying that you MIGHT beat me at a game of cribbage!? :rotfl: Oh you must be a blonde!!! :teeth: Thinking so foolishly!
Either that or you are VERY young ... :rotfl:

Do we want to start placing bets between this game of cribbage? :cheer2:

This could be fun!! :3dglasses

Dennis- I'm thinking the earliest I could make a morning jog is maybe 8 am! I remember the last time we were on a Disney cruise, my kids didn't to bed until after midnight each night! But that meant they slept late in the mornings, thank goodness!

Well, I can guiarantee that I WON'T be awake for the walk...I would, however, be interested in playing cribbage is you decide to make it a partners game :)

:cheer2: The cribbage bet is on... :cheer2: I the young beautiful blonde will not only take up the baton :wizard: but will win many games of cribbage. I am forever 20 and only my hairdresser knows for sure.... :rolleyes1

Time for my cup of coffee, got the crockpot on for dinner tonight and must put in a load of laundry.

I have a qestion, I see that many have done this cruise thing. It's my first time, so in reading Isee that you may bring your own wine on board. I love my wine! I read that they charge you a corking fee of $17 dollars and 15% tip. I also read that someone just uncorked their wine and brought it to dinner and they were not charge. Have any of you done this? Drinking much wine will make me slow down..... :hyper: :teeth: It may even help me win more cribbage games :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Any thoughts? Yes Good Morning to all!!! :sunny:

Morning All,

I finally got caught up on the thread this morning!!! Whew!! That's a lot of pages.

Dennis: Good luck w/the in laws. I know how you feel. Some of those in laws can be a real headache... oops! :earseek: Of course I don't mean you DiDi. :rolleyes1

Gotta run, late for work...

Those Sting Rays are really starting to sound good!!

David
:badpc:

:cool1: Aspiring cribbage aficiandos!!! :cool1:
So much "smack talk" :rotfl: Too much fun ...
Guess I will bring along one of my nicer boards :rolleyes1
Partners games work for me if there are enough players :cool1:

As far as morning constitutionals are concerned, my past experience indicates that the best way to do that is freelance schedules ... this is, after all, a cruise ... there are shore excusions and so much more to deal with! Trust me, that walking will NOT offset the caloric intake!!!

David ~ Stingray experience is GREAT. I liked the catamaran option ... but I love sailing too  Must do excursion!!!

DIDI ~ Yes, you can bring on your own alcohol & yes there is a "cork fee". Our method is to bring along something for the "daytime sipping" during the "days at sea" and make a trip to the cabin for refills. :rolleyes1 When it comes to dinner, we have "paid the price" and/or taken turns with others buying the wine which makes the final bar tab a little less frightening. We don't drink much but Chrystina  likes her wine with dinner. We just set a budget and deal with it. My experience is that cruise lines are experts at seperating you from your $$$. BUT whatever your choice ... your cribbage expertise will definitely need the help!!! :rotfl2:

I would suggest bringing along your own bottle of champagne for the embarkation ... unless, of course, David has volunteered that .... :earboy2:

Hope that helps

Dennis

Good morning everyone!

DiDi- I don't know anything about wine. I'm sure I have probably never even had a glass of "good" wine! There has been a thread fairly recently on the main cruise board about it though. I do know that people bring their own alcohol on board all of the time. It just has to be packed in your carryon, not checked baggage.

David- I loved the stingray excursion. It is pretty amazing - and I think your kids are old enough to enjoy it as well! I would love to take my kids on it this time, but I know they would not get in!

Wow! Can't wait to see who wins cribbage and earns bragging rights! :)

I'm assuming that the cribbage games will not be played during the pub tour??? LOL

Hi All,

The wife and I like cribbage as well. We even play with Diane on occasion. If you don't mind her counting each and every peg hole. That's why they are in groups of 5. Luv ya DI!! :love2:

I think the Rays are a MUST... Would you do the DCL version or Captin Marvin's? Any pro's or con's? I love the description that the 'Rays' feed like the cartoon Kirby character on steroids. :rotfl: :rotfl: Gosh that cracks me up!!

I may partake (sp?) in some of the pub crawl. Well at least I hope I don't end up crawling....

Has anyone had experience bringing beer on board? I'm not a big drinker but one or two now and then might be nice. I just don't want to carry to much around until the rooms are ready. Any thoughts?

Dennis: Can I get or can someone post an updated list of who & where we all hail from?

Mom's & Dad's: I love the idea of geting the kids aquainted before we set sail. Do we have a list of ages? My boys aren't to keen on the Flat Mickey idea. I may be able to coax the younger DS. Did I miss the boat on this opportunity? (The pun WAS definatley intended).

Gotta run... back tonight....

David

David

Will update my file and post it sometime this weekend. I wouldn't haul a bunch of beer around. Multiple Alaska rafting trips have helped determine the weight isn't worth the effort. Stop by the store just before you get on the ship. When you get off at the ports, stop at the stores and "restock" as necessary. Can't help with Cpt Marvin's vs Disney. I did Disney and liked it but Cpt Marvin's appears to be very popular ~ Based on that alone, I suspect that it is a "class act".

Since I finally worked out the problems with my wireless network, I now can post the countdown ~ SO ...

Welcome David and DiDi :wave2:

Your younger DS is welcome to participate. If you can't find the link, just PM me and I'll send it.

I've also received some feedback that some kids may feel Flat Mickey is too young for them, so if they just want to send a pic and a brief intro, I could incorporate that into the same book and then the kids could still get this mini book/directory of other kids on the cruise.

Otherwise, those still interested in Flat Mickey, if you could please get me your information by the end of next week so that I can finish the book and send it to the kids.

:flower:

Hey DiDi...don't feel bad...I count every peg hole too, and sometimes I recount. And when I get a really good hand, I will do it three times..just to bask in the glory. You can never trust those crib boards to be accurate, anyways. :teeth:

To everyone out there, do not listen to a word my evil BIL (David) has to say about my cribbage habits. Also, if my evil sister comes on board and tells my true age or hair color, it's not true. ;) ;)

Kathy is the true blonde in the family and will be my partner in crime...cribbage (she cheats)..... I'm only kidding. I love my sweet sister, it's that man she married, well that's another story  .... I love him too. Really I wouldn't know what a vacation would be with out them, I would be lost without both Kathy and David. Enough with this mush!!!!!

What is this about the Pub excersion, did I miss something here? I'm still reading the thread. :confused3

I'm on board with everyone in getting the children to get to know each other. Patrick is 8 and is peering over my shoulder now. He is looking forward to the Sting Ray excursion, I am trying to convince him that it would be very boring to go to the Tulum Ruins and Beach Tour. I told him that his Uncle David really needs him around because he is sooooo responsible. Really it's because I would love to have a date with my hubby.

B&J's mom & smilingmouse those cribbage games could take on a whole new meaning during the pub tours!!!!! Poooooor Dennis would not have a chance!!!! Kathy who is the blonde and the younger one; told me that she is ready to kick butt in cribbage, you will all be worshipping her :worship: .

B&J's mom, I would be honored to teach you all about wine. :drinking1 It's in a bottle, you drink it and it's good. Depending on the time of day you drink the whole bottle :drinking1 and hope you wake up in time for breakfast. :tilt: I'm signing up for the wine tasting excursion also the champagne brunch at Palo's sounds good. :drinking:

I do hope that we can all hook up and meet each other on this cruise. It would be so nice to put a face to the person who is chatting.

Hello GilesFamily,

Not only do you have to count every peg hole so you can bask in the glory, :teeth: but it's just as important to count your opponents pegs too. Just to bug them :teeth: and to make sure they don't take any extra points. :rotfl: I know someone out there and I won't mention any names (Kathy) pirate: who might just do that. Ops, I best be nice, she is my partner. :rolleyes1

Mcentree...I'm sure Dennis can fill you in on the pub tour :)

Cribbage...with or without the "beverages" sounds like a blast!!!
