Dennis, I wish you the best on job interview. I lived 6 hours away from my husband for 3 months and thought I would go crazy so I can't imagine how excited you must be to possibly be moving to El Paso with your wife.

I'm in the same Southwest boat with the rest of you. I waited and waited for the October rates only to find out I can fly Delta for only $2 more and get sky miles to boot. :confused3 I'm going to wait it out right now to see if they run a special, but if it doesn't get any cheaper we will be flying Delta.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

B&Js Mom- You didn't happen to eat at Einstein's Bagel today did you? A lady was sitting a few tables away from me chatting and chatting with her friends about her upcoming Disney cruise. And how she had done some before and they were fabulous. I thought to myself that it would be funny if that was my internet chat buddy. I thought the lady would think I was absolutely nuts if I asked her if she was a DIS chatter. So I kept my mouth shut and ate my bagel. :mickeybar

Congrats on your first use of the dancing banana. Isn't that a fun one?
Good luck to you PowerAlaska on your interview. I guess if you came back to the lower states, then you could not longer be considered a "geographical uppity". Understand? :earboy2:

Have a great weekend. I hope the pixie dust works for the flights. :Pinkbounc

Deanna

Deanna- No, that wasn't me, but that is so funny!! Which Einstein Bros. were you at? It would have been even funnier had you asked her if she was a DIS chatter - she probably would have no idea what you were talking about!! :rotfl: Take care!

Here's a Sunday bump----hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Monday Everyone :goodvibes

Good luck Dennis on your upcoming interview.

B&J's mom & cujo bugs: Some PD for your flight worries. We are lucky to have 2 great traveling DD's. It also helps that they are older now. In fact its nice to have the flights broken up some so they don't kill each other on the 5 hour flight from San Fran to MCO.
Got good news from United this weekend, their computers did their usual shuffle of travelers and they had our flights soo screwed up, (flying from Portland OR to Denver back to LA then to Florida :confused3 ) Luckely this gave DH leverage to finagle better flights coming and going than we were able to book originally on our FF miles. We now arrive in MCO at 9:30pm instead of Midnight. And only one stop going, no stops coming home :cool1: .

Hope everyone has a great week
Kim

kcatoir- The pixie dust that Dennis sprinkled for flights has worked for you! I am so glad. Gives me hope as our flights are still unreasonably priced.

Julie- It was the Einstein's on 103rd and Stateline Road. I'm glad I didn't ask her if she was my internet buddy. She probably would have thought I had gone mad. :rotfl:

I just booked my husband and son's excursion on Grand Cayman at the website grandcaymancruiseexcursions.com. Does anyone have any experience with this site? I hope it works out well. :boat:

I talked to a lady at Southwest and she said that their internet sales start on Tuesday mornings. I'm sure you all probably knew that, but I just wanted to let everyone know!

Kcatoir- I'm happy you got a better flight! That is wonderful with the no stops going home - that is when you need it! That flight home from a long vacation can be so long and tiring!!

Deanna- That is the Einstein Bros. I go to! Isn't that funny? Small world! What kind excursion did you book for your husband and son? I don't know what for sure what all we are going to do. Definately a submarine excursion either at Grand Cayman or Cozumel.

Hope everyone has a great week!

:sunny:

Hi Everyone! Just checking in.

Dennis, if you are reading this, good luck with your job interview tomorrow! I hope that it works out for you!

I've been following the current may repo thread. I'm really starting to get excited about our cruise. DD5 has her last day of preschool today, and DD8(9 next week) are keeping me hopping with class parties and birthday party plans. Summer should fly by (it always does!) , and then it will be almost cruise time! My girls will start back to school Aug. 9th, so summer will be really short this year (courtesy of Hurricane Ivan)! Now that summer is here I would really love to get my girls in touch with some of the other cruisers kids. Some mentioned awhile back about letting them email each other or PM here at the Dis boards. DD almost 9 and DD5( 6 by cruise time) would probably enjoy having some "built in" buddys for the cruise. DD2 will be attached to my leg, she won't leave my side so no hope of her making any friends! :) Hopefully she'll stay with Southernmouse long enough for me to enjoy dinner at Palo with DH. :sunny: Anyway, if anyone is interested in exchanging some notes between kids let me know.

Have a great day! Erin

Dennis- Best of luck tomorrow!! :wizard:

Erin- I know what you mean, the cruise will be here before we know it! I have been reading the May repo cruise thread also, it sounds like they are having a great time. My daughter (who is very shy and quiet!) will be over 5 1/2 years old by the time we set sail and I think it would do her wonders to have someone she "knows" be there! I would love to get them in touch with each other. And I know there are others on here with daughters around the same age! My son will be almost 3 and he seems to be just like your 2 year old - he is a clinger!

Deanna- I am going CRAZY trying to figure out what to do with the flight! I am seriously considering Airtran. Leaving K.C. at 7:45 a.m. there is one stop and then in Orlando by a little after 1 p.m. I just want to get something booked already!!

Hello!
I think that is a great idea on somehow "connecting" kids before the cruise. My daughter, who will be a little over 6 1/2 years old is a little social butterfly, however I don't think she would be too adept at writing e-mails. And we are WAY up here in Canada, so getting to know each other via phone conversations would'nt work. She is worse than a teenager when it comes to phone conversations. When she calls her best friend, they will talk HOURS..you know, about really important stuff, like what she had for lunch that day..and I have to say "Ok..honey..it's mommy's turn to use the phone!"

If you have any ideas on how we can get our kids to becomes friends before the cruise, count me in!

Dear Erin C's daughter age 8.

I like your dress in the picture that your Mom has on her mail. I think you sound like a good friend. I am eight years old too. :) I like gymnastics, do you? If not, what do you like? Maybe you will say princesses. I will have a friend with me on our cruise who is 9. Her name is Kylin. But I still have room for you as a friend. We can do things together in the lab. I really want to make flubber. Do you? :earsgirl:
:flower:

Talk to you later. Maybe the next day probably. Bye. Carissa

Dennis,

Here are more good wishes....please keep us updated.....

Well, Dennis, sure am curious to see how that job interview went. You may get a big pay raise and then we can come and visit you in the Roy Suite in Category 1 !!!!!!! :goodvibes

Julie- Yes I'm struggling over those crazy tickets also. I am insistent to hold out for a nonstop flight though. I keep thinking they will have a ding special. But so far no luck. My next hope is a systemwide savings. They are due for one of those soon. Anxious to hear what you do. For now I'm holding strong. This is what I want to do to my computer everytime I check Southwest's sight. :badpc: That is too funny that is your bagel place. Next time I'm in there I'll wear a DIS colored green shirt. Then maybe you will recognize the color! Ha. :rotfl:

The excursion I booked for my son and husband is a scuba diving trip to Stingray city. Apparently there are two Stingray Cities, the original which is 12-15 feet deep, and the second is the sandbar. Disney goes to the sandbar so you can stand, the divers go to the orginal so they can scuba with the stingrays. My son and husband are both certified. So they are excited about that excursion. They are going with Divers Down.

Have a great week! Deanna

Hi Guys!!!

Thanks for the many good wishes & piles of pixie dust!!! :goodvibes Was just researching the Company website, mission, strategy, benefits, etc for the interview - later today. Being the OCD type that I am, I tend to know the client or opponent as appropriate for the task at hand. :rolleyes1 Will let you know how it went later ...

Glad to see so much chatter and discussion. Still, you have to wonder, where are the rest of the passengers? Lurkers? You out there?

Have been home 4 days now :cool1: Weather is warm (80-90) which makes what I call a "run" kinda damp.

Wouldn't you know that Chrystina  made some comment about me being a PITA already. :rotfl2: All in jest :rolleyes1 I think ...

Have never even heard of Einstein's Bagels!!! Sound like a cool :cool1: place.

Will check back later ... with a Countdown update ...

Dennis

Dennis

Dennis, are you sure that you and Chrystina want to live in the same house?!!! :teeth: Best of luck at the interview today!

Deanna, I'll get Briley to read Carissa's note when she gets home from school today!

Giles Family, if email doesn't work for you maybe we could type a little bio, and send a pic via snail mail. I think my kids would love to get the mail, especially from Canada, and other parts, and then they could keep them and read them again before the trip! Whatever you think might work for you. If you want to PM me your address I'll be glad for my girls to send yours a note.

Have a great day! Erin

B&J'smom and cujobugs: did you see today's Ding? it looks like it expires by 5pm but they've got your non-stops. not as good as the $99 but may be worth a look.

I'm still waiting for STL fares to go down. :badpc:

I think my DD would love to write and make new friends. My daughter worked on a Flat Stanley project for her cousin last year, maybe we could pass around or do a Flat Captain Mickey to learn a bit about each other. Please PM me your address if you're interested.
:wave2:

I love the idea of "snail mail" for sending pictures, letters, drawings, etc. to the other kids! Count me in! My daughter LOVES getting mail and loves to make cards and pictures to send to people. I think it's a great idea to get them acquainted.

bpicard9- What is a Flat Captain Mickey project? I have never heard of this!
I did see the Ding rate from Southwest for today! I think we will probably do it! Good luck with the St. Louis rates! Maybe you will get the $99 rates! :wizard:

cujobugs- Are you going with the Ding rate? You seem to know alot about Southwest rates, do you think this is as good as it's going to get? I'd hate to lose this rate and kick myself later. By the way, the excusion you booked for your husband and son sounds like so much fun!!!

Dennis - How did it go?!?

b&j's mom: The Flat Stanley project had us take a picture of Flat Stanley around on a day in the life of my DD. We took pictures of Stanley and DD and journaled their experiences. (lunch at McD's, visit to school and her friends, etc.)

I thought we might do a variation with a picture of Captain Mickey or whatever fav character, snap some pics and send a little about me/my day with the Captain, I could send out a template to anyone interested and then compile all the notes and pics so that all the kids could have a little album. If this is too involved or goofy, no big, we could just send a note to one another.

good luck on the air fares

bpicard9 - did you see the St. Louis to Orlando DING today? $85 each way. It expires today at 7:00 pm CDT. Just wanted to let you know in case you didn't see it yet. Not sure how that rate stacks up against others you may have looked at.

Hello everyone else! It sounds like fun to get your kids acquainted before the trip. I think it will make them that much more excited about the trip and will be cool from them to have friends all around the country and world ( :flower: Giles Family). I'll be in the same boat with ErinC. I'll have my DD1 attached to me the whole trip or I'll be chasing her around and around in circles. Maybe Disney should make special lounge chairs to accomodate mothers with children attached at the hip.

Can't wait to hear how the interview went, Dennis.

Have a great day!
