GilesFamily- Welcome!! I am so happy you found us here! We are really excited about the cruise, too. It seems like it will be forever until it gets here, though.

I don't know much about guarantee staterooms. All I know is that you are guaranteed that catagory cabin, I don't know when you will actually find out what room you have. Hopefully someone else on here knows more than me!

On the excursions, I know that you can't book them until 90 days before the cruise date, that puts us at the end of June. So maybe by then you will know your stateroom number for sure?

Again, welcome!!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Welcome Giles Family! SouthernMouse will be so glad that you showed up to get the welcome aboard bash baton!(If you haven't read the previous threads about the party baton, you may have to back track!) Is your 6 year old a boy or girl? We have DD9, DD6, DD2, so hopefully our children will be able to get aquainted. Sorry, that I can't help you with your questions about your room # and excursions. We haven't decided on any excursions yet, if we do something we will probably book it on our own. Glad you introduced your family. Erin

Giles Family!!! :wave2: Welcome aboard Matey's!!! pirate:
Congratulations on now having for the Bon Voyage Party Baton!!! :wizard:
I guess I will have to update the listing of swabs & mates so you can prepare.
You can get all the task, rules, & assignments from SouthernMouse who has done such a marvelous job of twirling the BVP baton so far ... :rotfl:

KC - Vegas will be okay ... Will be getting paid & be on per diem. :smooth:
Can't help you with Cape Canaveral ... Never done the complex ...
Think about swinging back and doing SeaWorld ... that's a Day's event.
All our arrangements are done with DVC & Air Miles too - Almost feels free!

Giles ~ Ninety days out is the deadline for excursions. You don't know your Room#? I would be standing on my TA's desk!!! Don't like NOT knowing things like that. Some folks know their Rm#'s - some don't. We have classified ourselves into a caste system - Uppities & Lowlies!!!

BJ & ErinC :wave2:

We're glad you'll be cruising with us!! Yes, I will gladly relinquish my baton. Even though I have loved having it so much, I do not want to be selfish so it's yours!! We haven't decided on excursions yet either. I still have flight reservations and transfer reservations to make, then I can worry about excursions. Unfortunately, I'm not quite as organized (or have the same sickness :rolleyes1 ) as some others here so I don't have it all together yet. If Southwest would ever extend it's flight schedule into October I could make flight decisions, but it doesn't look that is happening anytime soon.

Glad you joined us!

Keri- I know what you mean about Southwest! I call them everyday - I always feel like I am bugging them, but they are very nice and tell me to keep trying back. That will be a big load off my mind to get the flight taken care of.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Ok..having this baton..is this a good thing or a bad thing? I've been reading the threads on here and heard the mention of the thing, but still not sure whether it's an honour or a hindrance.

ErinC: We have a 6-year-old daughter. Maybe your DD and ours will become good friends during the cruise!

Actually, I'm quite relieved about not having to jump-start on the excursions. I tried to sit down with DH the other day..um..while he was watching a NASCAR race..trying to ask his opinion on what he wanted to do on excursions. Needless to say the conversation was rather one-sided.

We asked for a Cat 12 Inside Cabin. We wanted to spend less money on the stateroom and more money on excursions and other stuff. I don't plan on spending much time in the room anyways. I guess that puts us in the lowlies. But, hey, I would be happy in a mop closet (hmm..maybe it IS the mop closet..and that's why we did'nt get a room number)

I guess if I don't get a room number from the TA by next month, maybe I'll call DCL directly. At least she DID give me a reservation number.

We are also planning on doing a couple days around Orlando before the cruise. We are flying into Orlando Intern. on the 22nd, doing Univeral Islands of Adventure on the 23rd, then hiring a towncar to take us to the terminal on the 24th. Then we are spending a night in Orlando after we get off the ship. Haven't figured out yet exactly how we are going to work that out, cause more than likely we are going to be off the ship around 9 am and we can't check-in until 3 p.m. Should we hire a towncar to take us to our hotel in the morning, and plead with the hotel staff to give us a room early, or to rent a car at the terminal and do a little bumming around until check-in time...then return the car. Any suggestions?

Welcome to our crazy crew Giles family!!!! You have joined a great group....even if some of us do have "OCD issues"
Be sure to join us for the Magical Pub Tour...Dennis has the details :)

:teeth: Welcome to the Giles Family! My family lives in Kansas, not Canada. Sorry. But I was conceived in Canada! Does that make me Canadian? :rotfl2: I guess that will have to work until another Canadian comes on this thread and boots me out of the "sort of Canadian" chair.

I am with you guys on the Southwest thing. One of the threads I read several weeks ago suggested that fares would come out on May 5th. That is tomorrow. So I will be checking the site. I still don't think I will book tomorrow though until they have a fare sale. I'm all about deals. :Pinkbounc

I haven't been chatting much on this thread lately, but I've still been reading them almost everyday. Good grief! I'm addicted. Maybe instead of a sail away DIS party, we need to have a DIS-anonymous party where we all walk up to the microphone, say our name, and admit we are addicted to DIS. :sad2:

I'm also still working on booking excursions on my own. We are doing Capt. Marvins for stingray city sandbar. My DH and DS are scuba diving at the orginal stingray city so they have to go with another company. I'm not sure which company yet.

At Cozumel we are doing the dolphin swim and sea lion swim at Chankanaab Park. We've already booked that excursion on our own. I just couldn't resist that one.

We are pretty clueless about an excursion in Key West though. Nothing from Disney appeals to me too much. Anyone been before that can give suggestions? My kids think the glassbottom boat tour sounds fun, but everything I read on the threads about it is negative.

Giles family- from the threads I've read, most of the guarantee room people find out their room assignments when they receive their documents in the mail from disney a few weeks before sailing. That is when you get to do the doc dance.

B & J's mom- are you ready for Kansas to warm up, or what? I planted my flowers a few weeks ago, and I keep having to cover them at night. Yuck. GIVE ME SUN! :sunny:

Got to run. :moped: Deanna

:confused3 Giles Guys ~ Having the BVP Baton is a "wonderful" thing! :cool1: That means you get to be the Integration Manager & Synchronization Strategist for the Bon Voyage Party!!! :Pinkbounc WE (the REST of US), really appreciate that - Don't we guys?!

Let's all give a cheer! :cheer2: :grouphug: :cheer2:

Don't worry, if you read back thru the thread far enuf, you will see that it also "entitles" you to the "extra special" Alaska prize. Which, for you, being "alien residents" :confused3 may not be so "extra special". Anyhow, you also have to be "holding" the baton on my anniversary to win. At least, I think that's how it goes ~ Will have to check with "the guy who made up the rules" ~ Oh - that would be me  Anyhow, also don't forget to register with Suzanne74 for the Magical Pub Tour ... You have "learned" about her run-in with the "Nap Police" - right?

If you would like, we can put your husband and my wife together to plan the excursions - of course, you will only want to do that if you plan on staying on the ship!!! I have planned the excursions and TOLD her what they are. Generally speaking, that works for me ... and when it doesn't her only defense is "it's in the MAN BOOK" and I always lose those discussions. :confused3

Don't even concern yourself with being a Lowlie. Have been on many decks ... they are ALL very nice... PLUS, being OCD's we have a plan for rescuing y'all if we hit an iceberg off the Grand Cayman archipelago. Let's see, I think KC or BJ is in charge of that... SmilingMouse is in charge of buying a round of H20 for everyone. And I think ErinC & SouthernMouse indicated that I was incharge of barnacle inspections under the ship ... they promised they would pull me back up after they unravel the rope from the propellors. :love1: Those GRITS are so nice!!! :teeth:

Well, that will be enuf of my nonsense for this evening ...

Just in case anyone was wondering ...

It is now Wednesday 5/4/2005 at 7:33:14 PM
Event: MAGIC Cruise ~ Scheduled For 9/24/2005 05:00 PM

Dennis :cool1:

:wave2: CujoBugs - Hi there :wave2:

You post must have popped up while I was writing mine - else, I would most definitely said Hi 2u2. Good to see you back ...

Excursion Plans
Have seen nothing of interest at Key West... We plan to take a Trolley Ride around town & do a little walking and shopping mostly...

Doing the Island Tour at Grand Cayman ... Has been Sunday when we were there before and lots of places are closed on Sunday. Anyhow, we have done the Stingrays and Chrystina  wants to see the Sea Turtle Farm and as I have indicated before ... she is going to take me to Hell since I never go when she tells me to. :teeth:

At Cozumel, I think we are going to go to Excaret? Looks to have a lot of interesting choices at that park or whatever it is ... Have done the Chanakaab Natl Park snorkeling which was fun ... And I NEED to keep Chrystina  away from jewelry stores if we want to eat after we get home ... :rotfl:

Okay ... Good Night all

Dennis

Hello everyone!

GilesFamily & ErinC- We have a 5 year old daughter and I would love for her to meet up with some girls her age, it would be fun for her in the club I think. She is kind of shy!

cujobugs- I was just wondering what happened to you! We hadn't heard from you in a while. Yes, I am ready for warmer Kansas weather (my irises got bitten by the frost I guess, I am so sad), it was beautiful today and tomorrow is supposed to be nice too! Yeah!! :sunny:
And tell me about the Southwest fare sales! I thought it would be cheapest to book the flight as soon as it comes out, is this not the right thing to do? Something else to worry about... ;)

PowerAlaska- :wave2: Thanks for the newest countdown!!

B & J's mom- I have been watching Southwest flights. I've checked different dates in Sept. but leaving on the same days of the week. They seem to be higher until they have a fare special. Especially the "ding" specials. Do you have that installed on your computer? They have been as cheap as 140 round trip.
I'm pretty antsy to get it booked though. We shall see how long I hold out for great rates. I'll let you know if I find any. We are flying on Sept. 23 and coming home on Oct. 1. Is that what you are doing? :flower:

cujobugs- That is exactly what we are doing, too. I would love it if you let me know about any good deals you find. Thanks so much! I am still so new at flying, last time we bought the tickets that could be cancelled without penalty - you just had to fly sometime within the year. Are the ones you are talking about refundable? If not, would travel insurance cover them if we had to cancel for some reason? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks again!

:sunny:

Happy Cinco de mayo day to ya.

B & Js mom- No, I never buy refundable. So my tickets are usually much cheaper. I can't answer your question about trip insurance as I didn't buy it. Sorry. Someone else will have to answer that question. Unfortunately Southwest didn't open up their fares for our dates today like I was hoping.

Have a fun day! Deanna

I don't mean to be a pain in the butt here, but being a newbie here..and even fairly new to internet discussion forums, I'm having difficulty with some acronyms. What does OCD mean? I'm trying hard to do my homework and read through all the threads, but having small ones in the household, it's get rather hard to spend a lot of time reading. (It goes something like this: "Mom, when can I play my Stuart Little computer game?" "In a minute, honey, I just have to read ONE more thread.")

Hey Dennis, yes, I did indeed read about the "special" prize. They are well known in our part of the country too. In fact, I think we can even get an assortment of bear and deer nuggets as well.

B&J's mom: My 6-year-old DD is a real social butterfly. If your shy daughter gives my DD eye contact, she will be all over her in no time. It's nice to hear that there will a lot of girls at the same age range.

I'll have to PM Suzanne74 about this Magical Pub Tour soon.

If anyone wants to met us at the first safty drill, we will be the ones wearing the orange life jackets. :rotfl2:

Hola everyone! Buenos noches and happy cinco de mayo!

Deanna- I think I am going to go a little crazy and buy the non-refundable tickets. I am getting to be so wild! I just can't see paying such a high price for the tickets.

GilesFamily- It's so nice that your daughter is social, mine could use a few lessons. She is so quiet and shy around people! I don't know exactly what OCD means, but I think I have it. Is it obsessive compulsive disney or something like that? I know Dennis knows what it means!

Have a good rest of the day/night.

Hello Everyone, :wave2:
Welcome GilesFamily,
OCD: Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder.......I am one of the offlicted, my DH calls it the List Maker.....MUST have lists for EVERYTHING :rotfl:

Giles Family, did you preorder your passporter?? I got an email that they should ship on monday :cool1: , Can't wait I've worn out my 2003 copy.
We has a GTY (guarantee)cabin on our last DCL and didn't get a room # until we got our docs but I was happy because they upgraded us from cat 12 to Cat 9.
We do have a room # this time because we requested a specific cabin.
Understand your lack of time, I have DD 11 (in 3 weeks) and DD 9. They never care about computer till mom's on it.

Key West: I wasnt' impressed with any excursions either so decided to take Trolley tour or just Walk, maybe a little of both, DD11 says we "must" go to the Key lime Pie Factory, she saw it on the Food Network and "were going".
Fine with me.

Stringray city for Grand Cayman,
Hanging out at Paradise Beach and shopping (also a must for DD11) in Cozumel.
Bike riding and What ever at Castaway key, Water bikes were a hit last time.

Dennis, Its hard getting paid to play isn't it :smooth: . DH "has" to work a trade show in Vegas every year at the Paris, I feel "soo sorry" for him :teeth: . So I'll just tag along :cool1:
Thanks for the Sea World suggestion, i'll keep that in mind.

I envy all you Southwestern Shoppers, Being in So Oregon has its draw backs. One being the nearest airport is 25 miles south and we're talking a mom and pop operation. 2 carriers and only 1 thats worth flying, United Work is Delta is coming and thats big news. :rotfl: . Therefore we don't get many deals, we have to puddle jump to Portland or San Fran.
FF tickets come in really handy.

Rain continues here :umbrella: almost an inch in the last 24 hours.
Castaway Cay..... :teleport:.....take me away.

See ya all Later :wave2:
