Sept 2009

We just booked at AKL our annual September trip. This year from the 18th - 27th. We'll be celebrating my birthday, and hopefully the completion of my PhD!!! :thumbsup2

I can't wait!! Hoping for free dining...we could kick ourselves for not booking bounceback last year!

We'll be at AKL during that time too!! :thumbsup2 Good luck completing your PhD! We'll be celebrating a belated honeymoon (we just took a short one after we got married since we got married on 12/20 and wanted to be back for Christmas) and me finishing my bachelors! :)

Be prepared for the possibility of extreme heat (2 Septembers ago, it was like 95 degrees and 100% humidity all week) and love bugs (little black bugs who fly around, usually in "pairs" or land on benches or white clothes). In terms of the heat, plan on getting to the parks early, taking a break midday to go back to your resort to swim, rest, cool off, then go back in the evening. The bugs are harmless to you...they don't bite, but they can mess up the paint job on your car, I've heard...but they can get a bit bothersome (we didn't have any 2 Septembers ago, but did see them for a day or two this past September). All in all, though, September is a great time to go, as the lines for many of the attractions are a lot shorter (5 minute or less wait for Aladdin's carpets) and there are a lot less people. There will still be lines for the more popular rides (Soarin', Peter Pan, etc), but not nearly as bad as in the summer or during holidays. Have a great time! We'll be there, too, for our 3rd September in a row!

Thanks for all the good info!! I love the hot weather. We have SO many days that get to be over 100 here...so it'll probably be cooler than what we're experiencing. DH doesn't like the heat though. So I'll leave off that little bit of info :rolleyes1 I'm so excited for the smaller crowds. I went in Oct a few years ago and only Epcot was crowded...

Hi,
My name is Ana. Hubby and I have 3 kids, (DS 15, DS14, and DD11) My family and I are going for Homeschool Days (Sept 19-26) and Free Dining. We go at this time of year often, but this is my first time getting Free dining. We usued to own DVC, so we are used to a one bedroom villa, but I am so happy we booked POR. We had kind of trying year (hubby laid off 2 months, family business burnt to the ground, getting house ready to sell and separated from hubby who now works in DC) I didn't expect to go because of finances, but with event tickets, value season pricing and free food, even my hubby can see it is a great deal. God is so good !

I am excited !!!! Can you tell ???

I haven't been paying attention to the Disney happenings lately. But I am looking foward to a lot of planning to get my mind off of being separated from my hubby.

I'm sorry you've been going through such tough times. I hope it looks up soon! And yes, God is good. He'll get you through this. I'm glad you still get to go to Disney! :thumbsup2

I thought I posted to this thread but I guess I didn't.

We are planning our first trip (after having to cancel last year) for September 20 - 26 with FD!!!! After having to explain to my kids (10, 4 and 1 at the time) that we weren't going and breaking their hearts, we decided not to tell them this time. Obviously the youngest has no clue but the other two understood. :sad1:

We are staying at AKL and I am so excited!! Now just to wait until hours are released so I can figure our ADR's out.

We're staying at AKL too!! The Exact same times!! We'll probably run into each other at some time. :thumbsup2 I am SOO excited too!!

Staying at AKL Club level..free dining and MNSSHP ...have not told the kids yet:thumbsup2

Yay! I love surprises. They are going to be so excited!!! :goodvibes I don't know if we're going to be at AKL at the same time or not...It's too early to do the math. ;)

Hi! Your info is wonderful. The last times you were there, was it during free dining? I was just wondering if this made it more crowded than normal. What week are you going?

I am getting so excited Sept 13-19 at the Contemporary. This is the 1st time in my life I stayed at a Deluxe, free dining made this happen. I really want to try Poly but a little to much money. We can also thank the government since we are buying our 1st house so we get a $8,000 tax credit and why not celebrate at Disney. I wish it was September

Congrats on buying your first house & staying at your first deluxe resort.:cool1:We've always wanted to go deluxe but couldn't afford it, maybe next year.
We just added one more to our trip, DS's girlfriend, so no deluxe for us, but the more the merrier & CSR sounds great so we can't wait till Sept

I just want you to know that we thought Deluxe was out of the question too, but then we found out about renting DVC points! We're staying at a value studio at AKL for less than we could have stayed at POP!!! :scared1: I don't think we'll go to Disney any other way from now on! :thumbsup2

My husband and I are going to the World this September 13-19, we were going to stay at CBR then DH surpised me and now we are stayin at CR. We are going to celebrate our 3 year anniversary.

Hi! Just found this thread and wanted to share that we (hubby, DS (7) & DD (5)are going to POFQ Sept 15 to 24th!!! :cool1: First time in a moderate!:banana::banana: wooo hoooooooo!!

My first post! I'm :yay: the gun and am going say, we're going Sept. 19-25. We have tentative reservations at AsMo, and it'll be our 1st time onsite. It's almost like planning a wedding or getting ready for the new baby!!! I've been lurking for the past few days and I'm still in a daze...

Thats great! be sure to say "hi" to us! you cant miss me I have a big tattoo of a cat on my right arm;) I am hoping to run into a few dissers! 3 trips (onsight)and I havent yet! my family keeps saying " where are all these dissers you keep talking about?" lol

Hi! We are booked for the last week of September. :woohoo: We're staying at the Contemporary and we got a 40% off rate.

We're not doing the dining plan. Between staying CL and the Epcot food and wine festival going on, it just doesn't seem like a good deal for us. We're pretty strict with diet (for DH medical reasons) and we wouldn't be able to enjoy all the desserts that come with the dining plan meals.

I want to do the MNSSHP, a couple of character meals (probably CP and CM) & enjoy international foods at Epcot.;)

Silly question for those who have been in September - do I need to bring bug spray? I've heard about love bugs, and understand that they don't bite, but what about other bugs just after Labor Day?

Hi! I am new to this board and wanted to join in with my fellow Disney September travelers. My family (me, DH, DD4, and all 5 grandparents) are going from Sept 19-26. Very excited! This is all our first trip to Disney in over 15 years and staying at WL with DDDP! Hopefully, we'll all have nice weather and get our much wanted ADR's. I am a little nervous about our ADR's; people traveling in August are having a horrible time getting their times. Anyone else feeling anxious?

We've never had any issues with bugs the past two Septembers, but maybe we've just gotten lucky :confused3
