Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Thanks all for your words of support. Things have been hard for hubby & I lately. I've tried to talk to him about a few things I'd like changed, but he's hearing none of it. It's likely due to the stress of the job, but who knows. In a recession with looming job cuts, it's not a good time to have a marriage crisis, huh? I want to be happy. I want to be treated with the respect I deserve. I want him to see that I'm worth it. Right now all he can see is his fear about losing everything: job, family, home, etc. I get it, honestly. I'll give him the time he needs to work this all out in his head.
There seems to be a lot this going on lately...close, personal friends (ie The Divas) and casual acquaintances in our neighborhood...luckily DH & I have escaped it...so far :worried:

Dad is doing really well. He came home from the hospital on Tuesday, I think. He's resting comfortably at home now
Glad to hear! :goodvibes

Kristine, let me know for sure when you're going back down. We're (Me, BFF & DD) currently booked to arrive on 8/23. DD school doesn't start until the Tuesday after Labor Day. Since Labor Day falls later in the month this year, we would cnosider a move to a week later. If we could run into each other while we're there, that would rock!
Will do! :thumbsup2

Absolutely!! Jennifer posted the ft from door to door, but it's not a bad walk from several hotels.

We walked from the Candy Cane Inn several times (except during the 105 degree days, then we took the hotel shuttle to the front of the MK).

I think the Best Western where Jennifer stayed might be the former Hyatt Garden - back in the early '90's we stayed there a couple of times and it was right at the set of lights at the Disneyland sign, so we could cross the street and walk right over.

Yep--that's where we stayed! There's nothing quite like walking out the front door of the hotel, walking across the street, and being on Disney property! I'd forgotten about the monorail--I do love the way it circles part of the park (like the Epcot monorail) then drops you inside the park in tomorrowland-so much fun! Thanks for the DL sign--I'm going to have to make me one of those!

Anybody think of anything I have not yet done as I try to do something new each trip? Gaylord Palms ICE is on the top of the list but if I manage two weeks or so I would have time for some other things.

SG

Just googled "ICE," and now we have another one for our list for December! Thanks for the tip, Linda!

Thanks all for the best wishes for my DL trip!!! I am staying at the Candy Cane Inn, I love the name. Now girls, when they say walking distance does that really mean you could walk there?

It most definitely is literally walking distance. The "chart" I posted above says the closest rooms at the CCI are 2,800 feet from the entrance hub for the 2 parks, so a little over half a mile. As I recall, there are sidewalks the entire way. Of course, that half a mile seems much longer at the end of the day than it does at the beginning. But there is a shuttle, and I think CCI has its own shuttle, not the one that's shared between the hotels. If you haven't seen this post yet, it has some great tips for DL:

I just want to thank you all so much 4 the wishes :grouphug: as this has been one the hardest day of my life. approx. 4:24 Peanut went peacefully to meet his mommy. I was holding his little paw while they gave him the drugs to make him go to sleep, we brought him home and put him behind our back garage (we have 3 all together) so I will go out this weekend and buy him a little head stone.

I would not wish this kind of pain on anyone. god bless to all! Have a great night everyone.

 Peanut was a very lucky little guy to have had you.

Still planning our April trip as well. Actually, most of the planning is done. Now I'm just working on the saving up for the trip part. Things keep coming up here: 64 yo Dad boke his femur last week & they put in a rod, ruptured pipe, tearing up a floor, dryer not working right, car with electrical issues, etc. Add to all of that the budget cuts in education... hubby will find out in mid-March if he still has a job or not. We can't even sell out house and move to a job because no one is buying houses OR hiring band directors.

So sorry to hear about your dad, but glad he's doing better. I can relate to your dh's job issues--mine was told back in August that he is supposed to be laid off or transferred to Texas, but we don't know which and don't know when we will know. Layoff would stink for obvious reasons, but the transfer might not be much easier because of the housing market. Most of the time dh handles it all okay but sometimes. . . let's just say I give him a wide berth. :rolleyes1

We're currently booked to arrive on 8/23, too! Don't yet know when school will start next fall (they don't decide until May--can you believe it?), but I'm hoping that it will be after Labor Day. I kind of doubt it, since Labor Day is so late this year, but keeping fingers crossed for it anyway. Either that, or I'm hoping that when free DDP is announced in April, it begins August 16 (like it did for the pin codes, the ones that we never get:mad:) so we could move up a week. We stay for 2 weeks, so we'd still be there when you arrived.

OK, now we've got reservations @POP 8/16-8/22...still don't know when the kids go back to school...:teacher:
Diva Mary & family are definately in...:woohoo:
still waiting to hear from Diva Becky & family :worried:

Okay, now they DEFINITELY have to offer free DDP beginning on August 16 so I can meet the Divas in person! And thanks, as always for all the flair!

M2E, you have been much on my mind. I fear you might have thought me cavalier in my earlier response. It is so much easier for me to say things will work out when it did for me but these are odd times. I remember worrying about job layoffs and such back in the day and it was a scary time. Money problems always make other problems worse. It is hard on your husband, and yourself, to have all this worry but there are men who do not worry at all and that is not good either. I most sincerely hope the best for you and yours.

Thunderbird, I am delighted to have given you an idea for your trip. My favorite thing of all is my first night tradition. We check in and grab a bit of rest and the head over to MK and hop on the monorail, ride it a few turns and then hop off and get on the resort on, take a few tours, at Christmas time we get off to see the Christmas decorations, making the Poly the last stop. We get something to eat, sometimes something from the CS place (Dole Whips) and go down to the beach, find seats right smack dab in front of the Castle and see Wishes from there as well as the EWP. No park tickets needed. :cloud9:

Christine, you envious? I do not believe it for a minute. You are like me, you rejoice for others and hope for yourself. I am rooting for you also ya know.

Jan, you are not rioting you ARE a riot!!! :cheer2:

Diva K certainly does have Flair! And style. I am still overcome with my late night visit from the Divas. Very special people.

Grandson and date just dropped by to show off their finery. Beautiful they were.

Youngest grandson did not win his basketball tournament in spite of making 14 free throws, 7 times at the line. Beat that NBA!!!

We still have July with my BFF and her family, and then Labor Day Weekend.

Hope you get to go to the Food and Wine Festival. We went last year but only listened to Night Ranger, didn't really get to enjoy the Food and Wine.:confused3 I want to go and spend the night so I can really enjoy the wine.

Oh, and my throat is getting scratchy again. Guess I shouldn't have went walking yesterday in the chilly morning air. I know, shouldn't complain since I am here in FL!

still here been busy .. food and wine is great. I hope they don't move the concerts to weekend only like they did this year with Flower and Garden. I was thinking about spending some of my points to go stay at Bay Lake Towers when it opens.

Mostly waste time...you can find people/groups that you have stuff in common with (ie Disney, tv shows, pets...)
I like to send stuff (flip flops, flowers, flair, etc) to people! :cutie:

Hey, I saw Four, count 'em, 4, movies this weekend! Amazing!

Has anyone else seen any of these:

Revolutionary Road (disappointing)
The Wrestler (keep my fingers in my ears and eyes closed a lot)
Doubt (2nd time to see this and want to see it again when it comes on cable..that nun was a witch..and on a witch hunt).
Milk ( not my cup of tea, but he earned that Oscar)

Wanted to see The Reader, but we couldn't fit it in as Lynne's flight was Sunday evening out of RDU.

Is it Tuesday already? No AI tonight..darn...Guess I'll actually have to read. :rotfl:

Last night took one of the pups Valium because I am so terrified of being alone in this place at night..a friend suggested it..and it worked! Slept peacefully and awoke relaxed. Cannot be borrowing the pups meds though...after all, it will run out early and then what?

Nancy, hope your throat feels better and turns out to be nothing in the works...and yes, no complaining from Florida!! :cutie: feel better!

DD called a little while ago to tell me all about the beautiful neighborhood she was driving around while Sophia was sleeping in the car-seat. ..sigh...pink houses, palm trees... She and her DH are open to the next move being Tampa where their company has a big office and a likely opening/promotion in the not too distant future.

For some reason FL seems like a scary place to raise children. We did live in Jacksonville for 3 yrs when I was a kid, but warm weather seems to bring out the creeps. Maybe my imagination has gone wild (being alone for days;) ).

Pooh, a long weekend! You deserve it after what you've been through.

Hope all our Pop Tarts are doing well today.

I was wondering why you had so much time on your hands today...no baby Sophia to tend to :cutie:
Sorry to hear you can't sleep when your alone...I used to have to take a sleeping pill to get to sleep when my husband traveled...but I was so afraid I wouldn't wake up if my DS needed me so I only took 1/2! :worried:

Well, if your DD comes to Tampa, let me know if I can help in any way. And about the crazy's here. It seems like every time I open up a news website, there is some story about Florida on it. But, when it is warm there normally is more crime, so I guess it would make sense for there to be more crime here. We live in a fairly quiet area. It is just the kids getting bored and stupid that cause problems.

I always have a hard time sleeping when the DH is away. We never use the alarm when he is home, but that first night he is gone, it gets turned on at bedtime. While he was deployed I stayed up until Midnight every night. Just didn't want to turn off the TV.

We are off to Epcot Friday night. I signed up for the AP Event they are having for the new Kim Possible Adventures.

I've been known to leave the TV on night for light and white noise while DH is away! :happytv:

Can't wait to hear all about KP Adventures...its one of the new things we are looking forward to doing on our next trip! :hyper:

Thanks, I just got a card in the mail from our Vet they did a memorial contribution in Peanuts name to the Wild4Ever conservation (www.wild4ever.com) . When I opened the card I was taking the dogs out to do business and didn't really read it but saw that it was a nice gesture of them to send us a sympathy card but then I came in sat down and re-read it and started to cry, that is so thoughtful of them to do that for Peanut.
