SEPT 2009 code watch

Hello! :) I am thinking that for our family, free dining would probably still be the best savings.... as we are 4ppl X 40.00/day = 160.00 per day savings x 11 nights= approx 1760.00 savings? Am I figuring this right? We are staying Sept 1-12 at AKL club level. I keep putting my family down to receive the new planning DVD and for some reason, we never get it. I have tried for about the last 6 months a few times. I guess our chances of receiving a pin code are most likely not that good :confused3  Oh well, hopefully a discount of some sort will come our way!!

That's a tough call chimo2u. If/when free dining comes out I would definately book it but also keep an eye out for discounts codes and pins as we get closer to the dates. Disney website quotes the AKL club room as 735 a night. If you are able to get a code of 30 or 40% off you would save more on the room than the value of the Dining Plan. Also, are your 4 people all adults? If any are 3-9 their plan is only $10 a day not $40.

Obviously the discount vs DDP savings depends on a number of factors such as WHERE you plan to stay and how many ADULTS are in your party.

For us, we generally travel by ourselves - just 2 of us - and getting the free dining plan is our best deal. On our up-coming trip my DD, DSIL and DGD (age 3) will be making their 1st visit to WDW. But after viewing the planning video, they are already wanting to go back in September and are hoping for the free dining.

I think I may have spoiled them though since I rented them DVC points for a studio at OKW. They will have a larger room, a micro/fridge/kitchenette, and use of a washer/dryer without cost, all for about the same rate as POP or AllStar.

When renting DVC points you can BUY DDP, but you will not get it free! So we'll need to compare everything once the 'offers' come out.

Tabatha and Braxtonsmon03 welcome to the Sept club. I have added you to the list on page 1. Daleswife I changed your dates for you.

THANKS!!!! I cant wait to get back down there!!! Hopefully I'll see some of you there too!!!

My DH, myself, DS(5), and 9 month old boy/girl twins are staying at CSR.

Hey Braxtonsmom03 we will be at CSR the same time as you! We booked CL so I'm hoping the snags will be worked out by then. I read that the CL soft opening for Jan had a problem

Yep CL @CSR as of this month. I think it's Cabana 9a that the switched to CL. I found this info on Buzz's site. So we booked it.

It IS room only. ... I'm happy to help! :wizard:

That's what I thought. Thanks for clearing it up for me!

I'm a FLR so sometimes we get offered room only deals around that 40% off mark. We always stay value - honestly I don't have the need to spend more on a hotel. We DID get FD last year and it was awesome. Bought a one day ticket with our package then upgraded it to a FL 4 day pass. This year I'm hoping to scrounge up enough money to buy a season pass. :thumbsup2

Subscribing!....
This is our first trip to the WORLD (Sept22-29 yeah MNSSHP) having already explored the LAND three times. Celebrating husband beating cancer and man....are we going to enjoy every minute of this family escape.:thumbsup2
No matter what this vacation costs it is worth it but dang flying from Vancouver Island is like the first encounter with pirates! pirate:
It would be a bonus to get a break on accomodations

Hi All,
Sorry its been a while, my back hasn't been cooperating with me getting better so i've spent a lot of time at doctors. I have to go see a surgen on the 21st of the month. On the brighter side my wife got a pin code through snail mail today. So we may be able to up-grade to a better place. I'm hoping to stay at a moderate and on the savings pay for meals and airplane tickets. Just letting everybody know to keep a eye on your mailbox.

Chuck

Also just to let anyone know....incase you didn't, cause I just gound this out.....

w/ all this talk 40% off codes....if you are upset you didn't get one, you may want to call a CM can see if you have a pin code attached to your name. Just in case it got lost in the mail, you're anxious, or it goes into spam mail.

Just my $.02

Do you have to have a trip booked to get the code ?? I got the 4/3 in May but am also going in Sept and would love a code !! Should I call or do I have to book first???

No you don't need an existing reservation, I was able to get it with a new one this afternoon.

So - I get to join this discussion finally!!! We are planning our honeymoon for (I think) September 1st through 8th....at least that is what we are thinking now. From MI - getting married in June 2009.....Been to WDW once a couple of years ago and LOVED IT!

Not sure on weather or crowds this time of year because I've only gone in early March...any advice or input would be great!

Many of you are talking about Pin codes and discounts....can I sign up to have one sent to me or something??? Would love to save some money and if they offer the Free Dining this year - we might even stay another day or so :)

We are going in Sept. 21-25 for park days prior to an Eastern Carribean cruise. Put us on the list!:)

Guess I'm late in ordering the planning DVD, but did that today.

I've read most of this thread but want to ask: Is what I should do now is just book our room? And should do this through Disney? Then, keep an eye out for discounts, codes, etc, and, in April, the free dining plan?

We stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort in 2005 and enjoyed it. Was thinking of downgrading to the All Star Resort. Probably the Music. Our way of thinking of accommodations is this: We are only there to shower and sleep, so we just want a good, clean, safe place to be. We just love to "go and do" from as early as we can to as late as we can.

Was also wondering what the draw is the the POP? I read FAR more about people staying here that other places on site. :confused3

We are me-44, DH 39, DD 18 and DD 10. And tell me if I'm understanding this right: We should probably go for the free dining plan vs the 40% off resort stay, right? Because there are 3 adults and we are already staying in a value resort?

Thanks for everyone's info and patience with a newbie to the boards!:)

I by no means know everything and perhaps some more people can add some info here... but as far as AS resorts. We just came back from AS movies. It was great! We have a 3 and 4 year old. We were able to see some of AS music and it was cute too. I personally only prefer the looks of a couple sections of music, but thats just me being picky. IMO-ASmovies is the most Disney like resort of at least the values. It has many sections with movies such as Toy Story, Herbie love bug, Fantasia, 101 Dalmations, and Mighty Ducks. The main pool is very nice! I have no complaints, however the other 2 AS(music and sports) have been refurbished where the Movies has yet to be. (I never once saw anything BAD about the room!) Now, the difference between Pop and AS...location for one. They are in different areas. This can be a factor if you are planning to only go to one or 2 certain parks. the AS resorts run along the same bus routes. This means buses are shared. We went mid Dec, we never really had any issues with the buses and sharing. A bus ride is a bus ride. Where Pop doesn't share with anyone. If you are interested in the refillable mugs, I believe Pop has frozen sodas where AS does not. Pop is also a newer resort. Newer furniture and not as much 'wear and tear'.
Back to the ASmovies. We had a preferred room to try and guarantee a Toy Story room (which we got all of our requests!). However, I could see Herbie buildings from the main lobby. It wasnt far at all, so I wouldnt pay for that extra preferred room again. Distance wouldn't be an issue thats for sure.
As far as discounts go...you can only use one deal. If you get free dining, you pay rack rate for the resort. I have read and done the math. If you are at a value resort, your better deal is going to be the dining. If you were at a deluxe resort, the room discount would be the better deal as it generally is a percentage, and the dining is the base dining (still a great deal if you are able to snatch it up!) Yes, you can book now and change the res when you get the deal you want. Just call them up and they will add it I believe.
Hope this helps. :)

ASMu has a family suite that is very nice. Then you will have a room and the kids can have their own sleeping place in the LR. Your 18 yr old can have the sofa bed and the 10 yr old can have the convertible chair.....

Yes If staying at the all stars or pop, id go for free dining cause your kids are all over 9 and thats all adult price meals.....do the math.....its roughly $40 a day for the dining plan....40% dont compare to it!!!

Pop is newer and cute if you've never stayed there its worth checking out. We are contemplating going back there in SEptember. Its between Pop, ASMu Family suite, or POFQ for us....still havent decided...

Hope you have better luck than me!!!

feeling stressed out no pin for me yet, I think that I might call CRO in a few days and check out what is up. I am happy for those who have been able to get a discount!

Have you already called them? I still have yet to receive any flyer but I had a PIN attached to my name. I'd call them now to check.
