Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

I called the cruise line today and asked that question. There are no formal nights, only on cruises of 7 days or longer. No t-shirts, cutoff's shorts, etc are wanted, but I was told that a good pair of jeans is fine for dining in the main areas. Semi formal, I guess might be the word I'm looking for, though those with more cruise experience may know better. Better than cruise casual??

Now, that being said, I was also told that the 3rd night is a "dress up" night. I was told that they will go around in the dining room and take pictures of you for you to buy, but it seemed that how "dressed up" you wanted to be was up to you.

The 4th night would be Pirate night. There will be lots of pirates on board but they are all friendly pirates so please leave your realistic weapons at home. Not sure about the fakey fakey ones. The only unfriendly pirate on board will be Captain Hook.

That's the word I got today, if anyone hears differently, please post and let us all know. Gotta find me a pirate outfit...argh!

New to our thread??? Welcome aboard!!!! Who is all traveling with you & where are you from....

OK, you guys all look so cute and fun in your pictures, so here's Jennifer and Will. The kids look just like us.

Agree this is a gorgeous engagement photo. You guys look happy and not overly-posed. A lot of the engagement photos I see where the bride & groom look uncomfortable and unnatural I think they should have just picked a spontaneous snapshot of themselves.

l love that day!!! My daughter turned "30" on 10-10-10!!! :)

Ha! That must have been a cool birthday party. My son turns 5 on 11/11/11, so we're throwing him a big party in California right after our friends' wedding. Dates like this are fun but we won't be seeing as many pretty soon ...

I keep meaning to start packing but getting distracted by trying to get ahead on getting homework out of the way before we leave so I won't have to worry about it on vacation! I think DH is going to have to be in charge of the magnets, printing the maps for when we're in Canada and won't have GPS on our phones! :scared1: We've been together for over 6 years but I still have trouble letting go of the details like this even when I don't have the time and he does ... and having to turn my smartphone off for a week is going to be an adventure unto itself.

TURN it off????? You are brave!!!! i've never turned mine off :lmao::lmao:
I am not even going to think about packing until Labor Day wkend....been busy this week with all the last minute purchases for the boy - take him back to college this Sat. and Sunday busy with a school event (i'm a board member of the HS he grad from).

Yes my daughter's 30th bd was GREAT fun - altho she was 5 mos. pregnant - so maybe we all had a bit more fun :)

Realized this a.m. that we really have 3 weeks left!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Hi, Strawberry Brenda. Thought I pop over here to wish you a fun cruise bringing the Wonder back to LA. She should be all nice and spruced up for you all. Have fun, and hope to see you soon.

Thanks Sunshine Brenda!!!! I know you are going to have a FABULOUS Alaskan cruise!! Post some pics & let me know what the "temperatures are like" if you would :) I guess it may be a little different than sailing down the coast - but should help decide 'wardrobe choices' :)

We loved our EBTA, but I'd like to try a WBTA. The time change going east was painful.

I can't even imagine going east since I have the most horrible time with jet lag. However, going west with the five days in a row of gaining an extra hour each day really took its toll on me by day four. I got so tired and just wanted to nap.

I know what you mean about wardobe. I am having the HARDEST time with that. I don't want to buy too many "Winter" wear, because we really don't need it here. I am hoping that what I have will suffice.

I will post pictures, but you will probably have to walk me through it, as I have a hard time with that. Heck, I might even do a trip report.

Have fun, and will chat with you soon.

Great photos everyone! Everyone looks great :)

So anyone else arriving early at the port? I have a feeling we will be there before it opens, lol. But I'm just so excited, I wouldn't have it any other way. Hoping to possibly get an upgrade on our room if its not too much. Would love to have a window!

We have an early flight from Whitehorse and arrive at YVR at 9:15 am. Will probably just collect our luggage and head to the port from there....

Crystal, we also have an 11 o'clock checkin, so we will be there a bit before.

Dress in layers, make sure you have a warm fleece and maybe some light gloves. It's very cool in the mornings now, This morning at my house it was 26F. Afternoons are warmer, today we will have a high of 56F. ( We are about 100m from Skagway.) Trees are changing colour right now, (yes we have autumn is August) so it is very scenic right now.

Crystal-will your family be wearing those cute tie dyed shirts? If so, it will be easy to find you at the port....

I think we should have on our tie dye :)
Our DS, Jacob(4) knows about the trip, but he can't read the calender, so he has no idea what day we are going, so we are going to try to trick him that morning by saying we are going to the zoo or something. We will see how long we can go before he realizes that we are going on the cruise :)
So we will either have to wear our tie dye under our jackets (and hope we don't get too warm and need to take them off before he figures it out) or change into them at some point...
...or it could be fun to dress us all up in our tie dye shirts but not say anything, and he may or may not figure it out just by that, lol. Could be fun!
