Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Sounds like a good plan to me.....

So for a DIS meet, how about 3:00 in the Promenade Louge on embarktion day? We all should be on the ship by then, and if we try to do later than that, people get busy with all the other activities. That will give us an hour before the mandatory lifeboat drill.

Will that work for everyone?

I would love to meet everyone too.

If the weather is nice I like to rent bicycles on Denman Street and cycle around Stanley Park. From the seawall there are great views of the ocean and mountains, plus you can see the stacked rocks that you can't see from the roadway. The ride is fairly flat, so even those not in the best shape can do it.
If you like shopping I would hit Granville Island or Robson Street.

If you love ice cream you need to hit La Casa Gelato. This is a family business where they make there own ice cream with over 200 flavours for sale. Some of the sound terrible like wasabi, or gorgonzola.
If you like sushi I would try Tsunami Sushi on Robson St. You can sit at the bar and watch the suchi boats float by on the moat. You just pick up and eat what interests you.
The Vancouver Art Gallery also has some interesting exhibits in September.

What do you think of the Aquarium? DH and I were thinking that we may visit there on Monday, depending on how things are going (and if we get in on time since we are taking the train up)

The Aquarium is nice, but a lot like any other North American Aquarium, only with Beluga Whales.

If you're awake & up for it, you should come find us after we board at the San Jose station (or the next morning) - would be great to meet you before we get there :)

We will be in one of the sleeper cars, as we have a roomette, but I can come find you. Maybe exchange cell phone numbers or set a time to meet in the dining car for a meal. The last time we were on the train, I was out by 8ish (I actually fell asleep before the kids in the same car)

Ok...so I had my very first "unprepared for a trip" dream last night. In it my luggage arrived late and I missed the transportation to my hotel which I could see in the distance but was too far to walk to. The taxi's had all left and there I was trying to lug my suitcases through the streets of Vancouver....:sad1::sad1:

Which got me to thinking: When you arrive at the port terminal in Vancouver...where does your luggage go? I know you don't carry it on yourself.

My one and only cruise I left from a WDW resort and once I boarded the bus to take me to Cape Canaveral I didn't see my luggage again until later that evening. This time I'll be handling my own bags...

oh i can imagine how soothing a train ride can be!! (and i'd like to have a peak at the 'roomette" if that would be okay - might want to get one of those for another trip); A meal on Sunday would be great - i'll be sure to give you my cell no. when the time gets close

OH NO!!!! but remember it was only a dream!! You do take your bags to the port terminal - and a DCL or Port Rep will take them from you and get them onto the ship - if you know your stateroom number - you can add that to your luggage tag(s)

Sounds like a plan and I think we can work in a peak into the roomette. One of the benefits is a gorgeous parlor car to sit and relax in that we will have to go through to get into the room cars

Thanks!

As for the roomettes...oh those are glorious. When I moved my familt from NYC to Portland we took the train cross country....I loved the train, but you have to be ok in small spaces. The roomettes are tiny. On the second train leg we had the "family" room and it was huge in comparison!

I was hoping to get a family room, but the price was a little high for us. It is only the two of us, so that is not too bad. DH wants to look into a possible upgrade depending on the cost onboard. We have done the roomette before and we bring the bare minimum as far as stuff. He will have his camera stuff and a net book, along with pj's and possible change of shirt for the next day. I am not sure what I am bringing yet, but may be finishing out FE on the way up.

oh darn :( but totally understand

I think only 8, but we can request that our tables are next to one another....
For the main dining my family of 3 would love to join this. It'd be neat to have several tables near each other be the DISsers. ;) Crystal, I think one of your children is about the same age as my DS4? Or is that someone else? Hoping Disney will put us with a family with perhaps another child his age since he's ridiculously social. I've read on some of the threads DCL is good at that sort of thing.

Someone a few pages back suggested perhaps a meet in the cruise terminal since we're all going to be waiting anxiously to get on the ship?

Also love the idea of a DIS Palo dinner that was mentioned a ways back. Hoping for a brunch, but I would be okay with doing both a brunch and a dinner if I can score the reservations for DH and I.

So, how many people are actually planning on dressing up for Pirate's Night? Originally I was going to get a costume for the DS but just bandannas and eye patches for DH and I, and then an Angelica costume on the internet caught my eye as I was looking for DS's costume so I might go all out after all ... just waiting for some checks to come in before I press the "Order" button :woohoo:

An idea....anyone looking to "link" dining reservations with Dianne & I?? I've done this in the past with our Dis friends and have really just gotten to know them as real friends....(and you're not "stuck" at a dining table with absolute strangers). Our 1st cruise with our table group was great...2nd cruise...not soo much :( 3rd & 4th we linked up and everyone had the BEST time...anyway, if anyone is interested, we have 2nd seating and would love to have ya...

Donna and I would love to share a table with you ladies. We are kinda in the same boat, but both of us are married. Our husbands will be golfing in Palm Springs for the week, while we enjoy the cruise. They swing while we sail. Explain how to link and I'd love to do it.

Yup it was me, I also have a 4yr old boy :) I'm not sure how your DS is, but if your DS will play with mine for even a minute, lol, my DS will be calling him his new best friend! :thumbsup2

I think it was me that mentioned a meet up at the terminal as well :goodvibes
Would still love to do that as well as the main meet on board.
What time does everyone plan on arriving? I think we will be arriving fairly early.
I would *assume* that since we are right after dry dock that everything should be ready fairly quickly for our boarding.
(the rooms won't have to be flipped from a cruise the night before, so we shouldn't have to wait for those either, I hope).
We have a 3hr drive to get to the port, but I think we will try to be there by 10am at least.
Anyone know when the terminal will be open?

To link a reservation you (or your travel agent, if you used one) just need the other parties confirmation number and the lead persons name. Then you (or you agent) can go into your reservation and click on "modify" and there will be a section to link reservations. You can choose what aspect you want to have linked (dining, staterooms, etc).
:thumbsup2

Allow me to make a suggestion to not link your ressies for dining until after the GTY rooms have been assigned. I still remember one of my cruisemates posting when he got assigned to deck two and DCL said it was because they assumed he wanted to be close to his linked mates....

"I wanted to eat with them, not sleep with them!" :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Ohhhh good idea!
We are currently only connected to my mom/brothers room, but they are up on deck 7, so no problem there.

I am secretly hoping that by the time they assign us a room (cat 11gty) that all the inside rooms that hold 4 are already taken, lol. Would LOVE to get an oceanview, or *gasp* even a verandah room!!! Where is my pixie dust? :wizard: pixiedust:pixiedust:

CRUISE CONFIRMATION CODE: 24126186

Under the name: Diane Erickson

Let me know if this is the correct #. I'm leaving for Hawaii in the morning. So I may not get a chance to check the postings to this site until I return on the 13th.

Donna and I are coming from So. Cal., Murrieta to be exact. We are 1 hour from Disneyland and 1 Hour from San Diego in the Temecula wine country. We are flying into Seattle on Monday morning, staying @ the Hyatt in Seattle and taking the train in to Vancouver on Tues. morning. Train arrives @ 11:40 am, so I know we will be cutting it close on time, but like taking the "Amazing Race" attitude. Worse case sceanario is we pick up the boat in Vancouver.:scared1:
