Sept 19th,2004 revisited.....

Good monday morning everyone! I love monday mornings because I know there won't be another one for at least more 7 days! :earboy2:

Amanda01, Kudos to Eric for fixing your picture posting problem! :flower: Give that man a Mickey bar! :mickeybar: Where did you find the fireworks picture of Cinderella's castle? That picture is really pretty, but I think your pic of CC and Wonder/Magic is my favorite.

Hello every one! Happy Monday. My DD got a filling today her first "silver star" as they called it. She's saying its a super star. Any who, she is very proud of it, I'm trying to remind her of why she doesn't want to get another one. But she thinks having it is super special right now. gotta run, the dog wants back in and I've got catch up work to do.

Ladypoo, where are you, how's the packing going? I'm getting ready for my virtual vacation back to FLA.

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs, and spread mayo
on the same cutting board with the same knife,
and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter
AND I used to eat it raw sometimes too, our school sandwiches
were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag.
not in ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e-coli?

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool
(talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell,
and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE... and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's
(only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes
with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors.
I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because
they tell us how much safer we are now.

Flunking gym was not an option... even for stupid kids!
I guess PE must be much harder than gym. :rotfl2:

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem
and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.
We must have had horribly damaged psyches.

What an archaic health system we had then.
Remember school nurses?
Ours wore a hat and everything. :flower:

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something
before I was allowed to be proud of myself.

I just can't recall how bored we were without computers,
Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations. :confused3

Oh yeah.. and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when
I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played king of the hill on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites
and when we got hur t, Mom pulled out the 48 cent bottle of Mercurochrome
(kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did)
and then we got our behind spanked.

NOW it's a trip to the emergency room,
followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics and then
Mom calls the Attorney to sue the contractor for leaving
a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did,
we got our behind spanked there (physical abuse)
and then we got our behind spanked again when we got home. :sad2:

I recall the kid from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop
just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house.
Instead she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof.
It was a neighborhood run amuck. :jumping1:

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told
that they were from a dysfunctional family.
How could we possibly have known that?
We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes?

We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills,
that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac!
How did we ever survive? :confused3

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA

CREDITS TO JEAN (who ever she may be)

I wish I could get the matching smilies, but at least I found the music! :cool1:

O.k., I couldn't stand just singing, the only phrase I know, Those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end. So, I looked up the song's lyrics. At the risk of breaking any copyrights, here's all the lyrics below so we can all sing along.

Music & Lyrics: Gene Raskin; performed by Mary Hopkins)
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes, those were the days

This link is a great sorce for Disney photos. They must be professional because I didn't see a bad one.

And hey I really liked the poem about growing up back in the day. It was true that we would rather swim in a pond filled with snakes than at the pool. Wow I really shouldn't have survived childhood.

Happy Monday everyone! Its a short week for me this week. Only 3 days of work and then I am on vacation! My DS starts kindergarten this week. :sad1: I can't believe it! I had to take next week off to deal with it. he he he Ericamanda, what type of places are looking to eat at when at WDW. O'hana's is great and so is Albert & Victoria's (this one is pricey). They have a great place at the Fort Wilderness Lodge called the Artist Point. Its fantastic! Amanda, hello and welcome back! :wizard: I am starting to plan a birthday pool party for my DS. 15 more days and he turns 5. I ordered him a birthday cake made to look like a swimming pool with children in it and a shark swimming in the middle of it. He loves sharks and I think that he will ove it. We are taking him and his cousins to Wet & Wild the following day. I am checking on possubly taking a 7 day cruise on the Majic in 2007. Anyone else going then?

HI Cindy! Good to "see" you back on our thread! I was wondering where you had gotten off to! I am not sure about 2007. I really need to get out of this house. We are 6 people living in a very small 3 BR house, and as long as I keep planning cruises I am always going to have a reason not to move.

I have been researching different place. DH was hoping to get an outside table at Rose and Crown for Illuminations. California grill is a must for Wishes, but the rest is up in the air.
