I got sucked into watching The battle to be the next tv cook (some thing like that) on the Food network. It was pretty interesting. Bobby Flay is one of the judges and he brought the other Iron Chefs in at one part.

AAAAHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! MY COMPUTER DIED!!!!!!! NNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!! Dear computer gods, let my DH fix it! I am hppy to use his computer but it's kinds like wearing his shoes. It's nice to have something on my feet but they don't really fit!

YEAH he fixed it sorta. It's working, but it's still acting up. I honestly don't know what happened. It was working a little slow. I just restarted it and when it came up it said that it was corrupt and that everything was lost. I started crying, because all my final essay's for school were on there and I hadn't saved them on the other computer. I had already sent them out but I didn't have another copy if something happened to the one the teacher got. I am so realived. I hate and love computer so much right now! Besides what would I do without the dis for more than an hour, watch tv? Yeah right!

Just lurked the threads about the cruise ship fire. Wow, no wonder I like posting here better. It's much safer and flame resistant. Sure we flame up a little bit, but you know, that's the advantage of knowing ea.other we can post and get on with it.

I was looking at the posts over there and there was one that struck a cord with me. A poster named and I may be wrong, captincrash or something like that made a comment that all the smokers on the ship should have to "walk through the carnidge and have to help clean up the ship." I posted that I thought that was mean. Well she posted back saying she was sorry but I got the feeling that she was being a little bit, well "snarky". Not sure. Oh well. And sooooo are the daz of our diz....!

So, has the croc shoe craze hit you yet? I've found a couple threads here on the DIS about it, a fellow cruiser of mine loves hers. I'm getting more curious about them, but I'm not too thrilled about the potential prices.

Dzneprincess, are you out there lurking? I have a question. I've booked through Dana as you suggested and I haven't heard from her/or her company since I booked. Except for the time I had to get my confirmation numbers again. Will they do any thing "special" as cruise time gets closer? I'm just not seeing the benefits of booking through a TA. I just don't understand some people. I need to vent I hope you ladies understand. My best friend has a bit of a crazy family. Without going into to much detail her grandmother found out a couple weeks ago that she has cancer. My BFF is VERY close to her DGM and is taking it very hard. Her DGM lives in a house with BFF's DF, following so far. Well BFF's DF is, how do I put this strange. He has over the past 10 years or so become very religious, which is great. But he is using that as a way to blame his mother, BFF's DGM, for some of the problems in his childhood.

Anyway when DGM told him about the cancer he had no reaction at all. He acted like he didn't care. She even asked if he would take her to the hospital for the surgery to remove the baseball size tumor and he said he couldn't because he had plans. Very cold attitude. So she had the surgery and was in the hospital, where my BFF went to visit her after work every day after work last week. Turns out that she is in stage 3 cancer and will most likely not make it, but they are going to try chemo. However it is not looking good at all. Well DGM decided that it would be best if she moved out due to the stress of living with BFF's DF, his wife and their two kids.

So they tell him this on Friday night at the hospital, to which he said fine, using some other terms that showed how un-fine he was with the situation. and told them that he wouldl be at the beach house all weekend. So he left his dying mother, his daughter and his sister, who by the way just finished chemo for breast cancer to figure out a way to move all this stuff in two days while he takes his selfish, self righteous, narcissistic, a** to the beach!

I am not complaining about helping with the move. I volunteered. Hell, I would give Adala, a kidney if she needed it, but this man, if he can be considered that, makes me ill. How can someone be such a hypocrite? He goes to church and prays for his fellow parishioners, yet he is blinded by his own selfishness to help his own mother.

Thanks your guys I really needs to get that off my chest. I would normally go to my BFF but I don't think she needs to hear something about her father that she is already thinking.

Some times people don't know how to react to certain situations. They don't know how to talk or handle themselves, case in point. Religous or not, the son did not handle the situation well. I'd vent too. Just support your BF the best way you know how. Help make her laugh, call her often to see if she needs help, and continue to be there for her. I know how difficult it can be dealing with a difficult imature father. I have one of my own. If he is saved/religous he reacted wrong. C'mon would Jesus run away b/c some person ran up to him, touched his garment? No, he asked who touched me and then eventually healed the lady from her demons. I don't want to get too churchy, but pray for the dad, pray that he would turn around to help his mother and siblings through this very difficult situation. Being in such a difficult situation can grow you spiritually its just a matter of if you want to grow. I hope you will get better reports from your friend regarding her dad. If he is in deed religous, I can't think of any verses off the top of my head that might inspire him to do the right thing. I'll have to get back to you on that. Amanda, just be there for your friend as you said. You are doing great! I just went through my post and 'HONOR YOUR MOTHER AND FATHER' come to mind.

New news....
I just want to add this too. I have come to realize that I have been neglecting my family b/c I 've been on the DIS. I was on the DIS when I was supposed to be focusing on the Ebay (which I may start again), but the computer is really pulling me away from those I should be paying attention to. Man, I posted so much Thurs. night, and then on Friday, and more on Sat.. You know how the DIS can be very addicting. There are forums I refuse to even look at b/c I don't want to be drawn/sucked in. So, I am going to put myself in DIS timeout. I'm going to try and not post between all days between the hours of 12Noon to 5-6pm. If I have time to post, I will and this also includes lurking. So, from addict's stand point, I'm going to go nuts, but from a mother's stand point I have to do what is right for my family. So, I'm not saying goodbye, just post you later. IF I HAPPEN TO POST DURING MY RESTRICTED TIMES, JUST CLICK ON MY SCREEN NAME AND CLICK ON THE E-MAIL LINE (I think I still have that option), report me to my family. Taeja thanks so much for the advise. I have been praying for the whole family. It's been hard on them all. I know just what they are going through. It's like watching a mirror image of what happened when my grandmother was dying. Allbeit without this much drama.

So your cutting back on the Dis are ya. I will be on a little bit more now that I am on ~ SPRING BREAK BABY!!!! That's right. I may be on the dis shot-gunnin beers, doing shots of hard alcohol, partying like it's 1999 and uh, um... oh who am I kidding. I will be spending spring break cleaning my house. And then to top it all off we are going to Ikea next weekend! Wooohooo! I am living the college dream! I love being an adult! By the way I dance like the banana when I drink too many beers!

Hi guys! Amanda, sorry to hear about he drama with your BFF. Thats a bad situation. The best thing is to be there for your BFF and her grandma. It will be a very stressfull and emotional time for them. There's not much you can do about Dad. He'll have to answer to higher powers for what he is doing. Good luck. T, the first step is admitting that you have a problem....... I can understand where you are coming from. It is addicting and your family has to come first.
