Better this week than next, but better not at all thankyou, and the worst is still to come cause I can promise you Len will catch it;)

So sorry you are under the weather!! Hope you will feel better quickly!! Lots and lots of pixiedust: to you and more pixiedust: that Len doesn't get ill as well!!

All righty now..... I'm going to make a run to the airport this weekend to see if I can use this piece of luggage as my carry-on.

My that is something I never thought of doing. Actually it is quite bright to see if it fits then you know for sure. Unlike most of us that look at the measure basket and hope it will fit but more importantly know it won't fit and pray they do not notice :thumbsup2

OK - so here is what I know on tastings. I have requested 2 swaps - and should have final confirmation on those tomorrow.

Sea Day 3 - 23-Sep 3.00pm Studio Sea Private Mojito Seminars (42 ppl)

Sea day 8 - 30-Sep 4.30pm Sessions Private Cognac Tasting (35 Guests)

Thank you for all your hard work :thumbsup2

I know I'm sitting here wondering what I did for the past 23 months! I keep building this tower of stuff to take, and had no idea how I was supposed to squeeze all of this into any suitcase. :confused3:confused3

:lmao::lmao::lmao: too funny I am now saying the same thing. Yes all those people who did the dry run of packing had all their fe gifts done, magnets done are now laughing at us :laughing::laughing:

Well I am not panicked yet I still have the weekend!!!!

One thing that was on my mind as I was trying to get back to sleep was the new formal night. Since it appears it is now on Night 2, JUST A REMINDER THAT YOU NEED TO GET YOUR FORMAL ATTIRE OUT FOR PRESSING ASAP WHEN YOU BOARD!!!

Thank you for the heads up Hubby does need his tux press so I will keep that on a list to do when I arrive.

Our experience with the domestic carriers in the UK and Europe is not only do they check size but they weigh the carry ons.

Lynne - I feel so bad for you. I hope you feel better soon. You are right, better now than next week, but you really don't want it at all. Hopefully it won't last long.

Also, somebody asked yesterday and I forgot to answer, that if you wash the spanx do they stretch - NO!!! Unfortunately not - no give whatsoever!!!

I laughed at the "rotational dinners" - we should have said that you order dinner, you get 2 minutes to eat and have to rotate to the person on your right.:rotfl2: That way we get to try a little of everything!

Everybody that is leaving today and tomorrow - have a wonderful trip and enjoy Barcelona!!!

Just two quick notes. One is if you are a USA Starbuck's customer, your card will not work in Europe, you must buy a Euros Starbuck card there.

Two, I was not able to buy passes for the rainforest from DCL. I was told you could only buy them on board. You can only buy a one day pass. If you know a way to do buy a pass good for the trip, please let me know.

I have a ££££ starbucks card so I don't know if that works in Europe .... will have to check. Thanks Noel : )

I only want a couple of day passes to be honest .. don't think I will have much free time to spend ages in the Rainforest !!

When I called Starbucks in the USA, I was told the card had to be in Euros. I would be interested to know what you are told.

When I bought our passes, I was told I could only buy one day for each of us but knowing DCL, you will probably be told something different.

If I left it to DH John to pack, I would have two outfits to wear for three weeks!! He would just say wear one and send one out to the cleaners!!

Mine too. Except when it come sto underwear he said buy 2 pack that if needed he can throw away to make space at end of trip. BUt he does plan to send some clothes out to be clean.

So sorry to hear this. Not a good time to get sick with so much to do  Get well soon:hug:

Okay - question.....

This is the first time I am participating in a "candy exchange" and a "scrapbook exchange". So once I'm on board, do we just "exchange" these in our fish extenders???

I mean since I'm bringing it, I sure want to make sure I get it out to the right people.

.

I thinks thats the idea Melodie .... to exchange them via the FE :thumbsup2

so I went to a different store today to get shapewear and I was successful. Not perfect, but comfortable. As it happens the store has a 20% off everything day, so i browsed the evening wear and actually tried one on. It was beautiful and I felt so good. But it would have needed shortening, and not a simple job either, so no time.
Anyway I looked in another department and they had one style in 2 colours slightly cheaper to start off with, and wow, they were great, and easy to shorted. so I picked one up. Had to ask the staff member and other customers which colour to choose. Now, if I wear my highest heels I can get away without shortening it, but they are black and the dress is blue. However, unless I quickly see some gold or silver very high sandals, they will have to do now as I don't have that long left, nor much money!!!;):lmao: I think silver would look best, but I already have a gold cover up and that would save me buying yet something else:rolleyes1.
I'm feeling so much better now!!! John thinks I look great too and that is what matters.

Sounds a perfect shopping trip, Marilyn...

Well I took 3 pair of pants to get hem. Hubby almost lost it asking how much it cost. :scared1::scared1::scared1: And I never really told him the real amount :lmao::lmao:

I have also gone with the iron on hemming. But when it only costs $10.00 a pair it is worth it to have it done right!!!!
We're going later today to have them measured for the hemming. Only $7. Life is much cheaper in the Midwest.

Disney Magic please take me away!!!! So, I was in the ER most of the night last night with my DD 4 yr old. She has croup and couldn't breathe! It was so scary!! They put her on breathing treatments and gave her steroids. Then we went to the pediatrician today and gave her more. They said she should be fine by next week. I'm just praying that our DS 1 yr old won't get this! They said it will be much more serious if he does. My DH flew out this morning. I'm so glad it was before he left for a few days. Well, I'm literally just dreaming of the Magic!!!
Hope she continues to recover quickly.

In one week I will be on a plane to Barcelona.:dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay::worship: :cool1:

I had my follow up appointment today and I am cleared to go.:thumbsup2 It also means I am cleared to go back to work. So I have 4 days of work and then on to my trip.

I probably have tons to do in those four days. Plus I still tire easily and have some pain. I am only human and can only do what I can do. If it doesn't get done it will have to wait until after the trip or someone else will have to do it. I feel really guilty about it but I know I can only do so much.

I have lots to do for the trip as well. As long as all 4 of us make it to the ship and the entire trip and we remain healthy and our luggage makes it the whole way that is all I really care about at this point.
Glad you can make it!

I call my credit card company now. I hit my Charles schwab card. As I'm telling him the places I'm going he ask if I was going on the Disney magic. I told him yes and ask him how he know. He said i was the 3 person calling him today with that itinerary. Then at the end of the call he said i will be seeing you in 10 days on the ship. What are the odds.
DS10 thought that way very funny!!

1) What do you suggest I buy 'just in case' of sea sickness? I had like Bonine (or something like that) the last time but I didn't need to take any. With the way my stomach has been with the new medicine (which I'm stopping after talking to the doctor) I want to be prepared just in case.
!

The all time best thing for sea sickness is Stugeron 15. You cannot buy it in the US. I get in when I go to England or Mexico, it's an overthecounter drug. I am a sailor and have sailed on my boat in the Pacfic. Sailors around the world swear by this and I can tell you first hand it works. Here's hoping you don't need anything.

Hi everyone,

I am settled in my new house and most of the boxes have been unpacked. The recycling guy almost had a heart attack when he saw all the stuff on the front lawn. I have just finished putting the last things in my suitcases and I fly out tomorrow to London to join the ABD Cities of Knights and Lights tour. Then off to Barcelona and then THE MAGIC. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you. I will will keep you in my prayers that you have safe and comfortable flights. Good luck with your packing and preparations. See you soon, Trudy

Glad this is all done and enjoy your trip!!

Can anyone swap a 2 person 8:30 reservation for Palo on Pirate night. :worship: Since they changed the theme nights, We ended in Palo on that night  and I spend weeks putting together a Jack Sparrow pirate costume for the party. Any night other than 11 is ok especially formal nights as we have decided to forgot those this time and eat in topsider. We needed room for other things rather than formal wear. Another option would see if changes could be made (website shows no reservations) or try to change on the ship. Does anyone have any suggestions.

We are looking forward to meeting you all. If we miss the 3:00 meeting, stop by the room and say hello. We are in 8042.

We loved the story about the naked man. I guess the photographer was a real crack shot! :lmao:
Barry and Teresa
:lmao::lmao:

For Palo, just to to Rockin Bar D as soon as you board and they will help you sort it out. :thumbsup2

Still about 10 pages behind - just have had the time or energy to catch up at the moment. This earthquake has created a lot of work for us - someone asked what I do a good few pages back and I realised I didn't say but I work in IT so we have been working with our clients to get their IT systems back up again. Some clients are needing to work remotely due to difficult access to their buildings, some are having to relocate completely and for some, their staff are flatly refusing to work in the tower blocks too far from the ground.

I got brave today and visited a client briefly in the city (right in Cathedral Square for those that know Christchurch) and the city is like a war zone. While I was at this particular client, the found a gap in the floor between the two original buildings (now combined into one) that is now about 12" wide - under the freaking carpet! I couldn't leave fast enough! On leaving, my workmate and I ended up taking a different stair well out (lifts are off limits in the city due to aftershocks) and we ended up in a warren at the bottom of the building. We followed all the emergency exit signs and ended up in an alley that had "emergency police do not cross" tape across the entrance - there was no way back for us - we had to simply go under the two lots of tape to get back to the street! A little unsettling? Heck yes!

We are fine. Standing joke here is we are shaken but not stirred and this city really rocks! Our new greeting is - hey, what's shaking!?
Radio this morning said we have had 355 aftershocks and that doesn't include todays ones.

We have experienced this also - we get mistaken for Brits - still could be worse, they might think we are Australians :rotfl2: :lmao:

The supermarket I read is a good option for cheap lunches and there are also many takeaway places that would be much cheaper than that. The market is also recommended for cheaper food.

He technically wasn't completely naked, he was wearing flip flops :rotfl2:

Stay safe!!

We get mistaken for Aussies too!!!:lmao: I just get them back by mistaking the Americans for Canadians!! That gets their goat up!!!;)

Eh?? :rolleyes1
:lmao::laughing:

ATTENTION ALL DANIEL TAXI MADEIRA TOUR MEMBERS

Just a quick reminder for anyone who inadvertently passed a fee on to Daniel Taxi when you made your PayPal payment. For example, you will still owe 2.69 Euros if you are paying for 2 people (60 Euros). You can either pay that to Daniel Taxi again on PayPal or you can bring the Euros to pay the driver.

All signs for the van leaders are made and packed.

Here is hoping the weather on Wednesday, Sept 22 is the same as next Wednesday in Funchal
Wednesday, Sept 15
Clear. High: 80 °F . Wind SW 6 mph

There was discussion a while back (probably 20,000 posts by now! :scared1: ) about buying wine and liquor in the duty free shops in the port after going through security. Here's a first-hand report from Erik and Jason:

"We're on the ship and I did see that there is a "wine and spirits" shop right in the port. We didn't go into it, but it does did appear to have a wide selection of wines, some liquor (I think) and beer (cquick's husband bought beer and said it was reasonably priced). There are also stores not far from the port that have liquor, too-----renegade7 bought a lot of alcohol in Barcelona and brought it on the ship with her....and you ARE allowed to leave the ship after boarding as long as you're back on by 8pm."

Thanks for that update. You made Mike's and my day.

So as you guys know I work nights, although I get to sleep around 5-6 hours if Im lucky, last night I went to bed with a sore throat, this am I woke up feeling like yuk, total full on cold....head,nose and I am so tired, been in bed all day, it sucks... now I have the dreaded D as well.

Oh no. I work nights too and I know exactly what you are going through. I hope you feel better soon. It's always harder to get better when working nights because you can never seem to get enough sleep to recover!

If I left it to DH John to pack, I would have two outfits to wear for three weeks!! He would just say wear one and send one out to the cleaners!!

I would trade you a packer John for a packer Mike ......

Feeling bit better after a shower, walk and some serious drugs:thumbsup2(legal obviously:rotfl2:)

It's Here! I leave tomorrow morning early for Rome and then Barcelona!!!!! I am sooooo excited, but also in a state of panic. My packing is done except my carry on which I just kept throwing items in a bag as I ran across them. Now I'm not sure all those items will fit.

So today I walk 3 miles, go for a mani/pedi and then a dental appointment. Why did I think I would have time for these today???? Oh well, today is it, if it doesn't get done then it's too bad. May not have time to get back on the board today so I'll say goodbye for now until we meet in Barcelona. I wish everyone a safe journey!
