I was reading in one of my magazines that Simpsonville got voted one of the best small towns in the country!!! It sounded like a lovely place to live!

That's us. Our little suburb has made the news! My husband has lived in Simpsonville for 35 years now and he still calls it "God's Country!" We are close to everything-we are 2 hours from the Asheville, North Carolina mountain area and 3 hours from the Charleston, South Carolina beach area. Living and housing prices are reasonable. Crime is relatively low, and best of all The Ellis family lives here. :cutie:

this is awful...but TV. (I won't miss internet because I always buckle down and just buy the internet package so I can stay connected :lmao:)....but TV I will miss....we watch a lot of TV...or, I should say, we DVR a LOT of TV. It's awful to confess this since watching too much TV is so demonized in our culture but I am a total TV junkie. Here is just an assortment of the shows that we DVR on a weekly basis throughout the year:

Project Runway
Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List
Top Chef
Top Design
Shear Genius
Eureka
Merlin
Smallville
Desperate Housewives
Brothers & Sisters
The Gates
Make it or Break it
American Idol
So You Think You Can Dance
America's Next Top Model
Design Star
Next Food Network Star
True Blood
The Vampire Diaries
Food Channel Challenge (where they compete making cakes...LOVE THAT)
Drop Dead Diva

And probably about half the shows we watch regularly....the ones I can think of right now....we used to be obsessed with a bunch of shows that are off the air now, too like: Pushing Daisies, Heroes, Lost, Dirty Sexy Money, Ugly Betty, Kyle XY, all the Sci-Fi network shows like the Stargate Series of shows, Battlestar Galactica, Sanctuary, etc.

So being on the ship there's always a ton of TV we miss....and I"m sure our poor DVR won't be able to hold everything for such a long trip! LOL

I DVR tons of tv too like i dont even watch real tv anymore haha i watch what i dvred while im dvring something else im still trying to get caught up on my shows since i was away for alot of the summer so now im trying to have it down to like 10% so it can get filled up again in the 2 weeks we're away. im glad some of the stuff i watch is over for the summer but then starts my fall line up AHHHHHHH :scared1::scared1:

Sounds like a lovely place to live. DS Mark and his family live in Mt Pleasant, SC right on the water and love it there as well.

Anyone here know anything about Pine Bark Extract, and does anyone have any recommendations for or against it? I was reading an article recently that said it was effective for combating jetlag because it has antiinflammatory properties that keeps you from swelling, which cuts back on the *brain fog* you get while travelling. I was wondering if it was worthwhile trying or not.

There is a "mini-bar" style fridge. It comes fully loaded but with quite a mark-up! We always pull the cans of soda, beer, and juice and the miniature bottles out, put them in a cabinet, and tell the room steward what we've done and to NOT replace them. Then we have the use of the fridge for the voyage.

Because of the type of fridge, it doesn't get real cold. On one cruise it was so bad that we talked to the Purser; they replaced it with a brand new one that worked just fine.

DCL doesn't have these types of minibars any more. Not even in the suites. The regular rooms have *cooling boxes* that keep drinks cold but won't keep a Mickey Bar frozen. In the Roy suite, we actually had a real mini fridge in the butler's pantry, and a cooling box out in the main section.

Most hotels I stay at these day have the new electronic minibar, which means you can't even move something without getting charged for it.

Hey if anyone has bandanas at dinner and doesn't want them or has extra feel free to donate them to us! Were at Palos that night so wont be getting any as I've just realised!

I may have some of the triangle bandanas left over from the DCL House Party I threw last November. I'll see if I have any and can bring you one if they aren't any different from what they've had on the Wonder recently.

Speaking of House Party leftovers, I have some recipie cards left if anyone needs to know how to make a Konk Kooler, Palo Souffle (and white sauce) or some appetizer dish. I don't have very many left, but probably have 4-5 or so of each one. Post here (since my PM box is full) if you want me to try to bring one.

I had some time to kill in Philadelphia yesterday, and I spent it looking up information on their flight to BCN which we'll be on in 2 weeks from tonight. I noticed that they offer inflight internet through GoGo Inflight (http://www.gogoinflight.com/gogo/splash.do

They seem to offer service on many of the US airline companies. Not sure about any foreign ones.

Looking around at the various pricing options, it appears that you can save money if you purchase access in advance, if anyone was planning on websurfing instead of sleeping on the flight over. Depending on whether your return flight will also have access, it looks like you can buy a 24hr pass for $11 in advance, and a 30 day pass for $19.95 for the first month (and you can cancel at any time.) The cost for a single flight over 5 hours is $12.95 I think purchased while onboard.

Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone was interested.

I used to sneak into the store cupboard and eat the cheapest cooking chocolate just to actually taste something chocolatey!!! Years ago that stuff was nasty, but it did the trick!!!

You poor sick puppy! val

I can't believe it was that simple. Had the 'discussion' with the school today and I am still in shock. I walked in and asked who I needed to speak to about getting independent study for my son. I was directed to the attendance office where I was asked if he was gone already or was this a future trip. I gave her our departure date and she just shrugged and said to have him come talk to her next week. She'll give him a form to fill out, she'll pass it around to his teachers, and then he turns in his work when he gets back. No questions about where we were going, why I was taking him out of school, how long it would be, nothing! His coaches gave us more grief than the attendance office did.
Sounds nice. I plan to email Zachary's teachers directly either tomorrow or Friday. I figure they are the ones who need to know. I don't even know if they have an attendance office. We are new to the school system. He's in middle school.

I think that I will miss my "man throne". When I had my house built I had a nice comfy one installed. The ones on the ship scare me. I'm afraid they might go off and suck me in!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Another reason I read these boards, to get my RDA of laughter!! And laughing is very good for the immune system--very important since we are all trying to stay healthy for the trip!! So, I guess what I'm saying is that I read the boards for my health!!

Gogo Inflight will not work once you leave the continental US. The system works off of ground based towers that are only in the US. This is why most airlines have only installed the system on their domestic fleets. So, if it's there, you'll only be able to use it until you get over the Atlantic.

We are Barry and Teresa from Alabama, traveling with DS Andrew (23) and with all of you. Sorry we are too late to join in most of your activities, but we hope to meet many of you on the cruise. We are in room 8042 and on second dining. Have decided to forgo formal nights this trip as it is too much to carry the extra clothing (we have to bring the pirate stuff of course). We are on the flight leaving Atlanta on the 17th arriving on the 18th in Barcelona. Hope to get a quick tour of the city before the cruise. This is my 7th Disney cruise and 7 days never seemed like enough. Will be interesting to see how 14 days will be. I hope everyone has a safe and uneventful trip to Barcelona. See you on the cruise. :mickeyjum

Welcome! I am Penny, 36 and sailing with dear Friends that I meet on a DCL cruise in 2006, Angie and Dennis.

What will i miss, hmmmm.... It would be my DVR, like Erik I am a bit of a TV junkie. :guilty:

I think I will miss my TV even tho the internet will be right up there.

I think your list looks like mine, I just took out the ones I don't watch. But I will add Army Wives, Survivor, Amazing Race, Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef, others I cannot think of. I am not sure if I will watch Dancing With The Stars or not this season, not liking any of the stars.

I thought that DCL blocked Skype on the ship or has that changed?

Yes, skype is blocked using the internet on the ship----it's DCL's way of making sure you can't make cheap/free phone calls back to people on land...you have to use their super expensive onboard cell service (Verizon wanted to charge me around $2/minute for calls and 50 cents per text with DCL's onboard cell phone package!!!) or their even more expensive ship to shore phone service. So we've already told everyone we know they won't be hearing from us by phone...that's why we have a blog...and maybe email:lmao::lmao:

Internet - no, we'll be on the ship with our DIS friends so don't need to keep up with the boards. :surfweb:

Computer - no, I'll be bringing my laptop.

TV - no, I never watch it anyway. :happytv:

Bed - that must be it; we use a Sleep Number: hers 35, his 100! :cloud9:

I will DVR shows, so it isn't TV... I will have my compyter, so not that... But, I too will miss the heck out of my sleep number bed as well! I too am a 35, Glenn is a 55 I think. Too bad DCL hasn't gone to route of Raddison and put them in every room...

I hope I'm not confusing cruise lines :confused3 ; our last DCL cruise was in 2006. So, maybe they've changed or else I'm totally confused about that. :rolleyes1

I can definitely say that I've never had a glass of millk left in mine! :lmao:

This willbe our thirs and I haven't seen a stocked one like that... Nor have I seen gelatenous milk...

I hope our chill box works decently...

I would like to know about pine bark extract as well...

Now, see you have gone and gave away some of my FE gift... Shame on you!!!

no phone for us either. I do have mine turned on incase there is a problem with my moms health, but the phone stays in the room and I check for VM.

This is one reason I started a blog as well. Stephen is doing his for school - but I think he will find a way to send messages to his buddies...

I tried putting my phone in airplane mode for 12 hours this weekend. Not a pretty site.:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

So I'm going to suck it up and already added the international text package and the international discount package. Then I'm going to get the internet package on board so I can Skype with the grandkids every now and again.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

So since I'm a wuzz and can't live without the internet, the thing I'm going to miss the most is television. :happytv::happytv::happytv:

I could not stand to be around you if you didn't have your phone and internet!!!!:lmao: She kisses her phone people!!!!!! :lmao::rotfl:
