So I outsmarted myself.....I was not supposed to have my physical until sometime in October....but since I am a Type 2 diabetic I have been on medication that I take by mouth. I figured since we would be on the ship for 2 weeks and probably eating things we never usually eat I would have the physical early. So I had it today--having the blood work last week. Doctor was not happy with the numbers so he is changing my medication to an injectable medication which I have to do myself each day. So now I have medication that needs to be refrigerated and now I have to also carry needles with me. So we will be flying for over 8 hours, so I guess I will have to ask the flight attendants to refrigerate it for me and will have to go through all the security checkpoints with needles. I am so smart....could not just leave things alone until we got back......doctor gave me a note that I need to carry the medication with me on the plane along with the needles....Just something else to worry about.
Tom

Sorry to hear this. This is a tough disease to get under control. :sad2:
As PJ said, fill out a medical form for DCL to get a sharps container in your room. If it is not there ask your stateroom host.
So today was a sucessful cruise prep day. I was able to find a pair of pants that my mom is going to shorten into capris as well as a dress that I'm planning on wearing on formal night. It's not that formal, but I really like it and I"m looking forward to wearing it. I got it at Marshall's (sp) - it was originally $99 and I got it for $29.99! I was happy with the deal.

I also found what I'm hoping to give as FE gifts...that is if I can get 8 of them done in less than 2 weeks. Stay tuned! LOL!!!

I LOVE a good bargain like that!

Wow, sounds great. I would need both eyes done because I see nothing without glasses/contacts.
He will now have 20/20 in the right eye, but will still be 20/75 in the left. So, the right eye will see far and the left eye will see close up. His dr said some people love this and some find they cannot tolerate it. If it bothers him then they will do the left eye when we get home and he will have 20/20 in both eyes but will have to wear readers for anything close. He is SO excited that he will be able to focus his camera!!

Mirando hacia adelante a satisfacerle.

What I said in English

I do not speak any Spanish. I grew up in Canada and we were taught French. It has been years since I spoke that. I did read the three bears in Spanish when I was kid. I had a summer friend who was from Spain. Now if I could only take this web site with me :) But I am good a mime :) I am sure you will have a great time on the cruise.

My name is Ruth. My husband is Glenn. We are from Toronto Ontario Canada. Our Son is an adult and he will be staying home to look after our dogs. Looking forward to meeting you.

That is a very cool site!! :teacher:

Hello. We are the only Spanish family of the trip. Our knowledge of the English language is very limited, but if you need some information of Barcelona I will be charmed with of providing it. Do anyone of yours speak spanish?

English - Welcome aboard, my name is Paula and I'm traveling with my partner Robert and my Mum, Marian. We are from New Zealand and none of us speak any Spanish, except for greetings and please, thank you and so on. I am so pleased that you found us!

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone.

Oh Kimberly, that is just so sad! My thoughts are with you and Becky's family and friends. That's heartbreaking! :grouphug:

So, I will admit this up front - I haven't read anythign since last night but I just heard from Autumn and I have to tell someone (or 100 people ;)) te news!!

I'm excited for you too ;)

We went to see Dennis' opthomologist this morning and he said it was a "perfect transplanted lens!" :dance3: Good news from Montana too! :)

Wonderful news!

our last port on the Med cruise and then the 17th is a sea day and then we're back in Barcelona on the 18th to pick all of you up! :)

Well you'd better not be late or we will you personally responsible! :lmao:

you may remember i posted a few days ago that DCL had withdrawn my early booking onboard room credit as i had 'amended' my booking - ie offered me the upgrade that i had requested to begin with, which i accepted, and paid more money for (and earlier).

Wow, I'm amazed that they did anything to be honest. Way to go!

You can have our spot there! :) We are not sit by the pool people.

Neither are we, we do hang out on the promenade deck though.

By the way, for those that responded to my Project Runway comment, yes, I love it and I did not like the guy kicked off, forget the name, but I love Tim Gunn and do NOT like Gretchen. I am waiting for her to get the boot, but I have a feeling we will be seeing her at Fashion Week. I wish Mondo's outfits were a little more eccentric like him. I LOVED Seth Aaron from last year.

I'm looking forward to seeing this episode, I downloaded it last night to watch. Love PR.

Nineteen years ago, I freshened my best friend's lipstick and held her as she took her last breath. I know there is nothing I can say that will lessen your pain right now, but know that your being there meant the world to her.:hug::hug:

Hugs Steffy! My Mum lost her sister just over two years ago to pancreatic cancer to. My aunt went into hospital, was diagnosed and never left - she died about 10 days later. Mum never left her side the whole time.

In 15 days I will be on a plane to Barcelona. I sure hope I have the stamina and energy for this trip. I am feeling better but tire very easily. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday for my follow up, so hopefully I will have the approval to go.

Good luck for the check up Becky - I'm sure your tiredness is just your body healing itself as quickly as possible.

Picked up our airline tickets today!

I take an injectable for diabetes too (Byetta). I asked the airline about refrigeration, and was told that wasn't available. I was able to find a nice little case that will handle 3 pens and a few needles for the flight and the first day. My doctor told me to get an ice pack through a medical supply house that can be used in the case to keep the pens cool. Not a big deal, and fairly cheap. It is most important you send the medical information sheet to DCL for a refrigerator for you stateroom.

Lynne Im so glad everything was OK! I bet thats a weight off your mind!
It is, now if I can get it off my butt I would be perfect:lmao:
Well just got back from the Cinema. Saw the Switch with Jenifer Aniston! Its a great movie! I was surprised I enjoyed it to be honest!
me too, not into chick fliks, glad you had fun though.
My kind of dress - love it!

This is the one i got from Debenhams

Gorgeous, I could have spent a serious fortune in that shop.
you may remember i posted a few days ago that DCL had withdrawn my early booking onboard room credit as i had 'amended' my booking - ie offered me the upgrade that i had requested to begin with, which i accepted, and paid more money for (and earlier).

Well i emailed to express my disappointment (nicely), and i am pleased to say that i had an email back this morning advising me that they are crediting my credit card with $300 for the med cruise and the $200 credit will be available for the TA - good times!!
Lorraine
thats great Lorriane.
And, BTW, both Lynne's and Lorraine's Debenham dresses look amazing! :thumbsup2

And here's me just planning to add a black shirt to my suit or something...

Way to go! :worship:

R
Not a lot more you can do,black shirts are nice though.
Hello, my name is Ana, my husband is Mario and we have a boy, Ruben, who is seven years old, and a girl, Alicia, six years old. You are very kind. We will try to practise our English.I am grateful to you very much for the explanations, though I don´t understand them completely. In the web of transatlantic pirates our disname is MONPORMA. I will copy the logo of the shirts and then I will do shirts for all of us. Is that correct? We will come to Barcelona on the 18th, because I work on the 17th, but I will be delighted if you have any doubt about Barcelona in answering you.Barcelona is a very nice city. You must see the Sagrada Familia, the park Guell, the Port Olimpic and Poblenou. There is a turistic bus with different routes. I advise you that you have care with the pickpockets.
Thanks for that Anna.

Im glad you dd is doing well, wonder if all that stress screwd with you diabetets, its probably better you went to the drs really. Just watch and not freeze your insulin, clients are always doing that with there pets by touching the backs of the fridge.
Glad your 1st injection went ok, must feel funny doing it.
It's 600 meters straight line. Of course, you can't go in a straight line! :lmao:
To get you in the vicinity, it's about 125 meters southeast of the Barcelona Cathedral.
The best way to find it would be to go to the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya (on Placa de Sant Jaume), walk northeast on Carrer de Jaume I, then turn right at the second street, which is Calle de la Dagueria. It should be about 35 meters on the right.

How DO you know all this stuff?:thumbsup2

Gotcha , customs is pretty fast , or at least it was the last time I was in Barcelona ...I think we were off the plane and at our hotel in about 30 minutes from landing ..(honestly it was fast)

We are staying at the Pratik Barcelona ...we get in around 7:50 pm Tuesday night , so hopefully we will be strolling the Rambla around 9ish ...we wont get to see much of Barcelona before we get on the ship but we may get off when we return and do the Go Cars (GPS guided tour cars) http://www.gocartours.es/ did this in San Francisco and its a great way to tour a city ...

If your out an about Tuesday night we may see you guys

pirate:

We are at the sister hotel Pratik Ramblas.

Urghhh - I think I`m coming down with "something" I have no energy and I`m headachy. Still better now than in a couple of weeks. Oh and we had good news, our waitlist for OKW came through - looking forward to that :goodvibes

Same here. I started a sore throat today. I need to start taking some meds to nip this in the butt as I only have 5 more sleeps till I leave.

We are Barry and Teresa from Alabama, traveling with DS Andrew (23) and with all of you. Sorry we are too late to join in most of your activities, but we hope to meet many of you on the cruise. We are in room 8042 and on second dining. Have decided to forgo formal nights this trip as it is too much to carry the extra clothing (we have to bring the pirate stuff of course). We are on the flight leaving Atlanta on the 17th arriving on the 18th in Barcelona. Hope to get a quick tour of the city before the cruise. This is my 7th Disney cruise and 7 days never seemed like enough. Will be interesting to see how 14 days will be. I hope everyone has a safe and uneventful trip to Barcelona. See you on the cruise. :mickeyjum

Doin the happy dance!

Sue shipped her magnets to the ship and they have arrived and have been delivered to the Magic Concierge staff.

Ah thank you. I seem to miss so much. Reminder to self - pay more attention!!!;)

Last September it was half bandanas... So just a triangle, not a square...

I sent magnets to the ship about 10 days ago and they arrived at the warehouse, and were transferred to the ship while it was in port!! The concierge is going to decorate our door for us as a surprise to the kiddos.

I think we had those bandanas last time we went to Pirate dinner. We don't bother now as I don't particularly like the menu, but will probably go this time with knowing so many people again. Great to see everyone dresed up.

In 15 days I will be on a plane to Barcelona. I sure hope I have the stamina and energy for this trip. I am feeling better but tire very easily. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday for my follow up, so hopefully I will have the approval to go.

I hope you get the :thumbsup2 to go!!! At least once onboard the Magic you can rest and really recover.

I am another one struggling to get to better health before the cruise. Looks like I will not be doing much at all!!!

Thanks for all the kind words....did the first injection tonight and it was rather easy and basically painless.....a little stomach discomfort but they say it could be a side effect that goes away.....anyway.....I am ready to cruise!!!

By the way folks...my DD is doing much better....thank you all for asking about her!

Tom

I don't know how I would cope doing my own injections. I know you have to so obviously would, but that first time would probably take me forever to stick that needle in!!!!

So glad your daughter is doing better.

I am pretty sure I can't eat eggs due to my dodgy gallbladder. I am not too good with nuts, coffee, raw onions and dairy either. Silly galbladder! :headache:

Try packing for a family of 4, for a month away, using minimal room so you can still shop in America, Argghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:
Having said that, I think I am organised....finally! ;)

I hope your gallbladder behaves. I am still on a low fat diet after having mine out because the pancreas is still not right. I think I am going to have to be serious on this cruise with being so far from medical assistance in a real emergency. A low fat diet is not what you go on a cruise for!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I also can't have alcohol, even in food, so that is a bit of a problem too. Our servers are going to be soooo happy with me.:lmao:

I did used to pack for 5, but we had a caravan so could take everything out and either hang up or put in boxes. Also we didn't have as many clothes in those days. I think we all have so many more nowadays. Or is that just me!!!;):rotfl:

Same here. I started a sore throat today. I need to start taking some meds to nip this in the butt as I only have 5 more sleeps till I leave.

I hope the meds work quickly. 5 days can mek a big difference.

Hi and welcome. Please don't feel you have to dress up to the nines for formal nights. Not everyone does.

Hello. We are the only Spanish family of the trip. Our knowledge of the English language is very limited, but if you need some information of Barcelona I will be charmed with of providing it. Do anyone of yours speak spanish?
Hola y bienvenidos!!! :grouphug:

, had scan today, all ok, dr felt something on my r kidney, but scan says normal abnormalty, a relief, all my "woman bit" are normal
what a relief, I celebrated my going to debenhams and buying a full length ball gown for villains night, Happy Days.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

YEAH! Thanks to my MIL, Goofy Granny to post my results. I was so happy that I hugged the technician and radiologist!!! They told me to have a wonderful cruise and not be stressed. Glad to hear about your tests too Lynn. What a relief it is and thank you everyone for your prayers.

I see that Paul and I are going to be twins too because all I wear for pirates is the bandana! :lmao:

I feel like going out and buying a dress, not for me, but for my DD. I always do that as a mom, but I will shop for her!!! Maybe she will end up with a villan dress. I am so happy I could scream for joy!
:yay: :yay: :yay:

We went to see Dennis' opthomologist this morning and he said it was a "perfect transplanted lens!" :dance3: Good news from Montana too! :)
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Wow!!! That's a serious dress!!!! :worship:

And another!!! :worship: :worship:

Gorgeous gowns, ladies!!!

We are going to be a full puppy but I think lots of couples! No room by the adult pool I suspect!
I think I'll be hanging by the Goofy Pool for a change... ;)

By the way, for those that responded to my Project Runway comment, yes, I love it and I did not like the guy kicked off, forget the name, but I love Tim Gunn and do NOT like Gretchen. I love Time Gunn & Project Runway - it's just so difficult to predict when it's going to be on over here as they seem to mess with the scheduling all the time!!! :headache:

It is pretty good as long as I am pretty good, I can get away with a little bit of naughtiness, just can't go overboard. I am not good with alcohol either, I am hoping to try a couple of drinks of the day cocktails though, I am going to try 1 a day and see how I go, otherwise it will be Mocktails for me.:goodvibes
Is there a risk to your health if you eat too much fat? I have no risk as I don't have stones, just have to deal with the pain and sickness. Is a drink of the day worth it?? :rolleyes1:)

With pancreatitis the diet is low fat and low protein because of pain as they stimulate the pancreas. The alcohol continues to damage the pancreas once you have had pancreatitis. If I hadn't still been having pain and been back to the doctors, then I would have had alcohol in food this time, but never to drink ever again, but with still having problems I am going to keep off the food alcohol!!

If it could have been proved that the pancreatitis was caused by gallstones then I might have been able to drink again, but because it was only the most possible cause for me then no way!! Normally, having had my gallbladder out, I would have been able to have nice fatty meals again though.;)

Once through those 5 nights in the middle of nowhere I will try a little more pleasurable fat(desserts) as I am not on a NO fat diet!!!:rotfl2: That is not good for the body.

I hope you keep well.:)

OK, I understand, don't want to risk further damage to you pancreas with any alcohol, totally understandable. ;)
As for a NO fat diet, that is hard on your body, can you have avacado, nuts, seeds or something else with 'good fat'. My naturopath encourages me to have flaxseed oil, apparently it is very good for your gallbladder, I know you don't have one, just thought it may be similar for pancreas?
If I do start feeling sick from my gallbladder I make up a concoction of flaxseed oil, fresh lemon juice and beetroot. It is a miracle worker. I hope they have beetroot on board. :goodvibes

Oh my, I have a headache.:headache: Not a real one, but a spare bed and clothes rail absolutely crammed full of my clothes. And, I haven't finished yet.:scared1::scared1: :scared1: Sun tops and shorts to go through yet. I could wear something different for every night of the trip, honestly, and I don't know what to chuck out. I want to take everything and have choice.

Then, on the floor, and in a carrier bag, are THINGS. You know, a huge collection of bits n bobs put aside to pack. Toiletries, books, travel tissues, sun cream, jewellery, bags, etc etc. Oh, and FE gifts!!! :scared1: Tomorrow I start on the shoes. Goodness me. I need a lie down.:rolleyes1 John is not going to be pleased.

Oh I feel your pain Marilyn....sounds like my spare room too....:rolleyes1

Hello. We are the only Spanish family of the trip. Our knowledge of the English language is very limited, but if you need some information of Barcelona I will be charmed with of providing it. Do anyone of yours speak spanish?

Hola! That is the extent of my spanish I'm afraid! :) Glad you've joined the group :cool1:

184 ft. of home, sweet home!!! We have a room number!!! 6133!

No upgrades, but I'm happy about it! It's in the back of the ship near the stairs. 3-4 flights up to pools and food, a couple of flights down to more food. I love being in the back near stairs!!!!

and one short flight up to morning yoga!

Hi Neighbour!:goodvibes we're in the next cabin so guess we'll be seeing you onboard!!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Hello everyone -

I was last on Page 111, so if there's anything between when Gizmo Sarah published the nearly final mini-navigator and now, I've missed it. So if there was anything specifically addressed to me, please PM me. I do know I have some hotel and flight updates to make, so I'll try to get to those this weekend.

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone. She had better predictions a few days before that, to the point that she would go home and start chemo that would prolong her life for about a year. Not sure if she had really even decided to move forward on that plan or not. Everything just changed SO fast. I'm thankful that three other friends and I got to be with her all of her last day on Earth on Saturday. So for those who believe, please pray for her mom who's now lost her soul mate and her first born. They are an extremely close family, and anywhere you saw Becky, her mom was with her. Parents just shouldn't have to watch their children come in and out of the world. I'm getting ready to head back to my hometown for calling hours tonight and her funeral tomorrow, so her family really needs some extra strength in the next 24 hours and beyond.

Then....I have to get back home for Lisa's memorial on Thursday. She's the one who I told you drowned in the Atlantic on August 15. I highly encourage all of you to "Like" the group "Shea It Forward" (like pay-it-forward) on Facebook in honor of her. Share random acts of kindness that you've given out or received. It's so enriching to see how wonderfully selfless people can be.

I hope everyone's pre-boarding plans are being executed and everyone's really excited. I have to admit that I've had a hard time with my checklist nor desire to read the boards, but thankfully I had a huge jump start on my packing. See...things happen for a reason.

My mom is going to come down and stay with me Friday. We're going to finally go see the Titanic exhibit at COSI here in Columbus. Its exhibit is over here on Monday, so we had to get it in this week since we failed to do it earlier. Despite the timing, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I was so disappointed when it was here last time and I missed it. This time, they have artifacts that haven't ever been displayed to the public before, so I guess it will be even better.

On Thursday night or Friday, I'll try to get back on and stick with you all until we begin our adventure! I really can't wait to be with all of you. Many of you have been soooo supportive to me on Facebook (you know who you are!), and I really really appreciate it. I know sometimes people just don't have the words to say, and I assure you I feel you thinking of me, too.

To all of our B2Bers who are about to leave, have safe travels and a WONDERFUL time on your Med cruise! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Love you all!
Kimberly
:grouphug:

So sorry about all the sadness Kimberley, I have no words but can offer one of these
