What does this mean in Air magnet travel for dummies:confused3 what is guass mean?? My head hurts just reading this. Guess it means no magnets for me:confused3

Anyone know if magnets can be bought in Gibraltar?

The strength of a refrigerator magnet (very similar to the types of magnets used for door decorations) is about 50 gauss (measured at the surface). If you measure 1 foot away, it drops to .001 gauss, at 7 feet (the air shipping requirement), it drops to virtually 0.

So, unless you are putting up your door decorations with a 1" X 1" X 3" neodymium-iron-boron magnet, you'll be fine!

I have all the metros, trains, cable cars, etc. planned out but for Saturday. The problem is that we wouldn't get to the ship until mid-afternoon, so I'm thinking of booking a private tour with Barcelona Day Tours. They'll pick us up at our hotel (with our luggage) and drop us at the port afterwards. It's more expensive but it takes a lot of the worry out of it. If we were going on Thursday or Friday, I would defnitely do it by train (but then, I've used the metros and trains in Spain dozens of times). Unfortunately, because of work, we don't arrive until Friday morning.
Do you think it's doable for a novice public transportation user that doesn't speak Spanish?:confused3

I want to go there on Friday. The choir sings at 1:00. We will just be arriving at 8:30 am. The only reason I havent firmed up my plans is because I have no idea how jet lagged I will be. It is my hope that I will sleep on the plane and my sheer excitment will give me my second wind. I am getting a case for my phone and she is going to rest between the girls. I'm not taking any more cash that I can lose. I'm also only taking one credit card and my camera. My expired license for id. Nothing over the shoulder. No purse. I would love to take the train up. I've read they hold a daily mass. I want to go there very, very much.

Definitely. The stops are well marked and most Spaniards in the service industry speak at least a little English. What hotel are you staying in? I could send along the metro info with stops and the train info with times and stops.

Michael, I would appreciate some help with the RENFE commuter train schedule and cost. I have been trying to secure this information without success. We are going to Freixenet Winery from Barcelona is by using the train: from Barcelona Plaça Catalunya or Sants stations, to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia station. We are going on 9-16 and our reservation is at 10:00 so I figure we would need to get a train about 8:00. Thanks so much. val

I am still catching up but I wanted to say that I feel so bad for Paula and I hope you are doing well after your rough day.

Todd - YEAH!!! We are looking forward to meeting Helen. Glad it worked out.

Just read a little info about the magnet, but thanks for filling me in. A Disney cruise without magnets on my door would just not be the same.

Mandy - so sorry to hear about your daughter, please keep us posted and you are in our prayers.

Angie - how is Dennis doing? Tomorrow I promise to catch up if you already filled us in.

Went to the movies tonight and saw The Expendables with Sylvester Stallone - LOVED IT! Didn't think I would, but definitely a hit in my book. Love action! Did anyone else see it. They showed the previews for Tron and the Disney movie coming out when we are on the ship with Jaime Lee Curtis. The previews looked great!

I have to get my car inspected tomorrow...keep your fingers crossed that I don't need brakes! I've had the car for 8 years and I do believe I've gone through 8 sets of brake! :lmao:

Thanks everyone for the wahoos and everything , this Day has gotten even better as we have found out through the help of our State Senator Harry Reid , Helens son Seans immigration case has been expedited and the Embassy in Manila contacted me this evening to tell me Seans interview will be Sept 17th , which means he will finally be with us in Vegas 1 or 2 days after we get back from the cruise ..:banana: -

Today has been a great day and I thank all of you for the well wishes and thank God for watching over us , he has done some amazing things in my life and he never fails me when I need him most ....:littleangel:

My daughter just ended her 8 month stint as a college program cast member. She and all her friends were so sad about it all ending. (Can't feel too sorry, as she is off to Hawaii to continue college!) They had the time of their lives. She got red roses from one of them today, and a couple of others drove up from Orlando to visit for a couple of days. I wish I could've had that experience as a college student. So jealous, but happy for her. She's now seasonal and will work when she is off school.

He will be touched that you asked. :goodvibes
His cold is getting better, his cataract worse by the day but only 5 more days to surgery. Today we were at Costco and he ate a sample of a sandwich (it was good by the way!) and some mayonaise dripped off. A bit later he said to me "people have dripped mayonaise all over the floor! We'd better get someone to clean it up." I looked and it was nails in the concrete floor not mayonaise!! :lmao::rotfl2: Now I did not know about his dribble incident at the time he said this and I was :confused3:confused::confused3 where'd he come up with mayonaise? :rotfl: I just laughed and laughed. His sight is that bad! :sad2: Everything is blurred and has a "halo". He's grumpy too...he did not see the humor in the situation that I did!

Let's add FL to those prayers as well. We, as well as others, will be flying out of FL and don't need any delays due to weather! :littleangel:

Let's all keep our fingers crossed that there are no "disturbances" in the weather while everyone is flying out. I was looking at our flight today and found that although we have a direct flight from Phila to Barcelona, it looks like the flight originates in Ft. Lauderdale around 2PM. I know, why was I checking this out at this time you ask...:confused3 Well, I thought I would start checking daily as to the status of our flight from the day before. This would give me information as to how well it is performing (scheduled time versus actual time, etc). I'm sure this information is probably found somewhere but it keeps me occupied.

Bottom line is now I not only have to think about weather out of this area but also the weather in Florida. pixiedust: that the skys stay clear as we all start heading out (including those heading out early for the B2B and those heading out for early land vacations).

:wave2: everyone.

Just thought I'd check in. Haven't been on a several days and already too far behind. I am supposed to be packing but as usual - aren't.

I posted on FB that my nightmares have started. Also my son's. I hope to God he doesn't stress out which in turns stresses me out. The bad thing with us is that we stress our bodies out I think we are both getting sick. :sad2: Not a good thing. Taking tomorrow easy so that it has a day to get back into normal mode.

So, did I miss anything? someone let me know. :lmao:

Lorraine, I was just talking to Giles about Madiera on FB. : )

You and I are just gonna be rolly polly after two weeks on the ship with custard (or creme brulee) and fudge (and/or the chocolate fountain)! I'm still giggling about putting the plate under the fountain! hahaha!

Lol - I know - but what fun!

Mmmm dessert buffet!
