It's a bit of a nerve-racking day for us today ..... DS Danny gets his GCSE results. This will determine whether he gets into college or not so it is really important. He is a bit worried to say the least, especially as he was still under the weather with glandular fever during the exams and really poorly in the 3 months prior. We are crossing everyhing that he gets good enough results to get into college. :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Good luck Danny!

I wish him all the best. They must have brought results day earlier as it was always on a Thursday, so I have been a little caught out this year.

Funny, Tailgating over here means following the car in front of you too closely while driving, it is illegal. That funny english language again :confused3

Actually, it means the same here but it has an alternate meaning for sports fans, especially football fans. Many get together hours prior to the event and have barbeque (everything from breakfast to chicken and steak - sometimes both). The term came as early on many had their trucks and they put down the "tailgate" to use as a table. It's all become more sophisticated since then but there are still LARGE amounts of beer involved!!!!

As ugly as they are, Crocs are THE most comfortable things to wear, particularly to put on after a day's shopping or trailing around the parks(if not actually worn there)

Next in line comes FitFlops. Just fantastic. I could wear them all day and every day, but when the weather gets cooler, they aren't enough for my cold feet!!! Back out come the Crocs to wear as slippers!! Heaven.

The replacement fabric for my FE's came too. The first shipment they cut it to short but charged me for the correct amount. Problem is this replacement is not the correct stuff. It has a tag on it that is correct but it is something else. It is so ugly I can't use it but it did give me a good laugh. It says it is the Pilgram Father's Olive clipper ships I ordered but instead it is pink, orange and purple partridges from the start of a 60's movie. Time for plan B. They were very nice when I called Fabrics.com but I told them I didn't think the third time would be the charm and to just cancel the order.
val

I had a good giggle at this. I am sorry that they did not manage to get the order right in two attempts.

Something to think about getting instead of the wetsuit. They make nylon skins, it is like a wetsuit but made out of swimsuit type material. They weigh much less, provide some warmth, offer protection from the sun, but do not offer the same buoyancy.

I was looking at this last year, but could not find anything in the right size in the UK.

I hope that your surgery will go well. I will be thinking of you.

I keep my fingers crossed for Danny.

I just noticed that we missed a pirate. It did not take us long to get to over 1000 posts.

Corinna

Calling all back to back cruisers. Is there anybody on here that has a Paypal account, who intends to get off the ship in Tunisia and who might be able to do me a favour?

Glad to hear you'll be there, hopefully you'll be wearing Pats jerseys. To sign up, could you enroll yourself on the website? If you haven't seen the posts on doing that, just go to the login page, and once you have entered your disname and password, you should get a link that says 'events'; from there you can sign up for many events, and also note which excursions you'll be on.

Thanks,
Glenn

Gleen, thanks for the info,I could not find it the first time.

I have to admit - Mary Jane Crocs are the way to go! They look like proper shoes and are mega comfy!

Hope that he did well and gets to go on in school. Are the GCSE's like the SAT/ACT tests that are taken here? The SAT/ACT tests are taken in the Junior year of HS and the scores are used to determine the college you can get into. If so, can he retest if needed?

We were booked as a family until we realized that the 3 in high school would just miss too much school--so we cancelled--now we're back on, but just for us parents!! The kids are guilting us, but we are considering booking the May crossing for them. This'll be our third TA, so you KNOW how much we LOVE the DISNEY TA!!!!!!

OK, I see the problem, I just needed to change the record back to read:
Cruising on WBTA: Yes

You should now be able to add events and such. Sorry about the confusion.

Glenn

Hey just updating the cruiser list and notice on the website you still have the kids listed. I'm right in assuming its just you and Scott coming right?

When I reactivated DizzneyDAnn's account I didn't remove the kids from the booking, but have done so now. Should be all set now..... :upsidedow

She will be fine, Thanks. She is home with Mummy, she has had water and a little food, and even did a wee today, very exciting, LOL!

...
I really hope they don't start ripping up the boat while we are on it!!! The smells are toxic and harmful! And the emotional distress to some of you would be just as harmful I think???:goodvibes
If you are listening Disney - Please don't tear up the boat while we are still on it!!!!!
Glad that Holly is doing better!!

Tailgating means both following too closely, and a party frm the back of the car. (for lack of a better explanation). I think it got the name as people would open the tailgate of their station wagons and serve food and beverages from it. (Or, I could be full of it... :rolleyes1)

I agree - please don't tear up the ship while we are on it!!

How nice!
Im not kidding... we have walmart, k mart, JCP, and Dillards.
Next closest shopping is 60 miles away!!! Or I can do a long day trip to Vegas(150 miles one way).:

If only! Vegas being driving distance away, We LOVE Vegas! They have great shopping, Primm, Premium Outlets, Fashion Show, oh the list goes on.......

By my calculations, most of the jewellery kits should start arriving today or tomorrow. Can you please let me know either on here or by PM once you get yours. So far there is one that was sent to the UK that may be on the missing list.

Corrina, you didn't send me a PM, just wondering whether I should be doing regular PO Box checks for my kit? :goodvibes

It's Monday morning here again folks....my weigh in day.....

21 lbs lost in 6 weeks!

....and dh has lost 28 lb in just 7 weeks!

Fantastic, Congratulations!!!! :cool1:

Give her a big cwtch from me! Glad she's doing OK!
Thanks, she's getting lots of attention, very spoiled puppy indeed! ;)

Ok, Im having a coffee and trying to calm myself by chatting to you peeps, I had the whole day planned out until Ruby Miss Two shoes, bogged off up the forrest, Its ridik, I went for a run on my own(6miles) because I cant concentrate on watching them and running, THEN I took them for a 4 mile walk, 5 mins from home she took off, the bloody toad that she is, I come home to get phone and bike and leave the porch open and by the time I went back she was on her way home, an hour wasted standing around in the pouring rain wasted!!!
Now I have a sore head, stress does that to me in around 3 minutes flat! and Ive missed my spinning class! beagles! who would have them!!!!

Can't live with them, Can't live without them, Much like Men really! :rotfl2:

I am so glad she got through surgery ok. Praying for fast healing.
Thanks :)

:welcome: We are first time cruisers, Hayley and Terry from Australia, bringing our 2 DD's Lucy and Bella. See you in a few weeks.

Hayley - so glad to hear that surgery went well. Keep us posted.

On my way to Tampa again. Friday I was backing out of the garage and hit the rearview mirror on the side of the garage. I told my DH that it is the "rite of passage" for women. I have 6 girlfriends that have hit, drove into, or ruined something in or near their house with the car. It is a chick thing. Needless to say, now I have to pay the price and drive the car to Tampa, sit and wait and PAY THE BILL!
Thanks :)
My DH know to expect a small mingle from me every now and then, It definitely is a chick thing! I hope you don't have to wait too long in Tampa. :upsidedow

Were leavin in three weeks from Thursday........... Oh my I better get a movin.......

Same here!

i would really love to toyko i am planning on heading to Japan next year so maybe
We'd love to check out Tokyo too....one day......:goodvibes

Crocs are normally about $29.99 here but a local discount store has them this week for $8 a pair. Unfortunately I am not a wearer, now if I could only find your UGGs for a discount. Actually, my favorite Uggs are the slip-on sandals I have that they have discontinued. Very sad as mine look like something the dog as gotten. Speaking of which, so glad to hear your Holly is doing well. val

Val I would offer to get them for you here, as they are Australian and we have an Ugg shop close, but I buy them in America as they are cheaper there!!!!! I am happy to get a price for you though?

Congratulations to all of you who have successfully lost weight. I know how hard it is. Wish I could report the same. Now the dreaded question. Do any of you know if there is a scale on board? I half-way looked in the gym the last time I was there but didn't see one. Should the gym be closed (someone mentioned it might be) other then the deck walk is there somewhere else we can use to workout? I have recorded the sound from my excercise tapes on my ipod. Having done them so many times I don't need to see the video just hear the instructions and music. That way if the gym is closed I'll just do them on my own. Tomorrow I see my real doctor to get the results of my tests. Maybe he'll have the answers as to why I keep gaining weight even though I've done everything they tell me to; added more weights to my workout, increased workout to 2 hours a day, dropped caloric intake to 750 a day and taking medroxprogesterone pills. Oh to be 20 again but have the life experience of being 55. val

I feel your pain, I am training so hard and eating so little, and it just won't move. My hormones are so far, we're trying to balance them, it's going to take time though, apparently I need to be patient, yeah right, I am a girl, I want to be skinny and I want it now! :lmao:

I know all of us have had those days where we feel shot down, stepped on and worthless - that is me today! Question for the women - I just got a call from my doctor and was told that I have to come back in next week because they noticed a "density" on my squishy test. What does that mean and has anyone ever had it?????? Why can't the few weeks before the cruise not have any bumps. I know there are quite a few of us asking the same question - Todd, Angie and the list goes on and on.

Sandi, I hope everything is OK, Think positive and try not to stress, It won't achieve anything good. I know, easier said than done.......:flower3:

Richard, as much as I agree with you that Su_Kraft is a legend. I also think that there are many others here that give as much time and pixie dust as they have available in their busy lives. I understand where you are coming from, And I know that I am going to show my appreciation to Sue and others in my own way once we are aboard. I will decline in nominating just one person as this is impossible, I think everyone here gives in their own way, whether it be technical, emotional, facts, organisation, some much needed laughter, etc.....:goodvibes

You're right, and it's a point that several others have made as well. Mea culpa! Thanks for the thoughts.

See You Real Soon! :flower3:
Richard

I have to admit - Mary Jane Crocs are the way to go! They look like proper shoes and are mega comfy!

I love my Crocs and the Mary Jane style is a firm favourite. I will bring a total of three pairs of shoes: my running shoes, a pair of Mary Jane Crocs and my black Lydia Winter Crocs for the evenings. Because they have a heel and are covered in velvet, nobody ever believes that they are actually Crocs.

I am tempted to get some croc sandals for wearing on the boat trips we are doing. Has anyone got them and are they non-slip ?

That is the one drawback with Crocs, they are not non-slip. I have gone flying on more than one occassion on wet roads while wearing my Crocs.

Hope that he did well and gets to go on in school. Are the GCSE's like the SAT/ACT tests that are taken here? The SAT/ACT tests are taken in the Junior year of HS and the scores are used to determine the college you can get into. If so, can he retest if needed?

GCSEs are done of the age of about 16 and they decide if people can go on to what we call Sixth Form College to do their A levels. A levels are the most common qualification in England and Wales that is required to go to university. There is other options as well that will be accepted for university entry, but most young peoples in England and Wales do A levels if they want to go to university. The education system in Scotland is completely different and I know next to nothing about it.

Sorry, for the final batch, I did not send any PMs and just posted on here that I have sent the remaining kits. I am not sure how long it will take for the package to get from the UK to Australia. Yours was sent on 17th August. I hope that it will be with you by the end of the week the latest.
