Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.9

Hey you chatty bunch! Hello!

We're back from a small weekend camping trip in our pop-up. I am going to take a lovely bath soon to wash away the weekend's grime but first I thought I'd quickly catch up - ha! 30 pages since we left on Friday!?!

It's been a bad week: hit part of our roof/car port structure as I slowly rolled out pop-up out of the driveway. We had to immediately go purchase and install a wall jack to avoid the carport from coming down. We got to our camping site at 11pm - we still went to avoid disappointing the kids but leaving to go camping at 930 at night was not fun. Now we have to do the real repair of replacing the supporting structure for our carport (which is a major portion of our roof, is all tied in together). Argh.

We also had our trailer battery stolen at some point in the past, and discovered it gone this week. Argh.

I hit my hand at the hospital and a diamond flew out of my ring, and I injured my hand. Ring is currently being fixed. Argh and ow!

I annoyed a co-worker at work severely (we usually get on very well) for something I didn't mean to do, and I'm feeling the strain of our relationship being wounded. EEk.

We had a very annoying bank matter than is ultimately fine, but was as bad as banks usually are, compounded by a rude overseas operator who had a very bad connection and was very frustrating to deal with. We can get back that two hours of our life correcting that problem! Sheesh.

And besides that, work has been unendingly stressful and consuming, and juggling everything seems too darn hard these day.

I keep joking that the cruise is going to be so fantastic, and nature likes a balance, so she's just giving us these petty annoyances ahead of time to right the balance for our trip to be totally fabulous!

I am sooooooo looking forward to meeting all of you so soon! Yay! Sorry to hear about the doggy who ate the fishing line. Poor, silly thing. I hope the surgery all goes well and she heals up very soon.

YIKES!!! You have had a rough weekend!! Sending some pixiedust: and :grouphug: your way! Hope that you feel better, your carport doesn't fall down and that you and your co worker can work it out.

I saw this adorable Tinkerbell Disney Cruise dress on ebay. I thought it may fit one of your princesses.

Had a Birthday party today for my cousin today. Back to work Monday. Surgery on Tuesday. Hopefully home late afternoon or early evening Tuesday.

I haven't really thought much about packing. I have a box of stuff started to be packed and the homemade fish extender gifts are done. I should find another pair of shoes but if it doesn't happen so be it.

As for clothing I wish more places would offer tall, plus size things. 32" inseam pants does not qualify as being long.;) They also need to make narrow, large sized shoes and extra-extra long swim suits. I seriously need to create a clothing, swim suit and shoe line as I can rarely find things that fit. Off my soap box now.

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Hello all,

I believe there are quite a few DVC members sailing on this cruise. We have been looking into DVC for quite some time and wondered if from past experience if there were better incentives for buying in to DVC onboard?

WARNING THIS IS A LONG POST!!

READ ONLY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A ST MAARTEN TOUR

A Bernard Tour in St Maarten has been booked and deposited. So far, we have a total of 12 people confirmed. Two others, Connie (Con5421) and Steamboat Will (Warren) have expressed interest. If we can get up to 8 more persons interested, we can reserve a second van.

Betty has asked me to try to fill the second van as she will be out of town until September 8, 2010.

The cost is $45 per person payable in cash or credit card to Bernard the morning we meet up with him. Betty will have more details at a later time about the exact meeting location and time.

The tour will be from 9am-3pm and will consist of the following stops:
·Great Bay overlooking Phillipsburg and harbor.
·Cayhill overlooking Simpson Bay marina.
·Sunset Beach bar ( Maho Beach ) where you can see the planes land right over your head.
·Marigot - open market (French Capital).
·Swim and or snorkel at Dawn Beach for up to two hours, as time allows.

Since it is our own private tour, the time at each stop is negotiable. Bernard has the above schedule pretty tight on the standard tour. The first 2 stops are just scenic stops, shouldn’t be too long since there are only 12 of us. He probably has things timed so that we would be at Maho Beach when the planes are flying overhead. 30 minutes is usually allotted for the market at Marigot. The rest of the time will be spent at the beach for lunch and swimming/snorkeling.

There are restrooms and restaurants for lunch at Dawn Beach

Water, beer, soda and rum punch will be served throughout the trip

Upon your return to Philipsburg, you will be offered a direct return to the ship at the Cruise Facility, or you may choose to remain in Philipsburg for shopping and return to the ship on your own.
You may walk from the drop off point to the ship in about 12 - 15 minutes, or choose to take a taxi for about $3.00 per person.

The people on the tour are:
grmmybtty (betty & armando)
birkner (noel & john)
luvdamouse (melissa & mike)
custard tart (karen)
valbob (val & bob)
yukon girl (janice + 1paulcrsb (paul)

Please let me know via PM if you are interested ASAP so I get another van booked.

Someone claim the dress - it is adorable - but if i bring one more thing for Becca my wonderful DH may wonder why he dosn't have any shoes for the cruise...

Keeping you in my thoughts for Tuesday!!

I was wandering the same thing.......:confused3

Here's what I just put on the website. I can change the wording if you like (I'm just the tech guy, not the wordsmith) :surfweb:

Show your team spirit by wearing your favorite football* jersey and joining your fellow DISers for football and beer. 3:00 should be just in time for noon kickoff for games in eastern time zone. We'll make sure to get a few 'team pictures' of the gang in our jerseys (before and after a few beers)

Hello all,

We bought ours on board. They were offering reduced prices at the time. I think there's a special promotion right now for a free Disney Dream cruise if you buy (or add on) a minimum number of points. I'll be happy to talk to you about the benefits (and drawbacks) of membership - I believe in full disclosure!

I will totally take you up on that! We have a Westgate TS and would like to sell it as they are no longer working with Disney for the parks. We can do a cruise through them, but not at a great savings. They were in with the park hotels for all of 3 months when we bought, and of course, that was a big deal for us.

So, if the benefits were right and we could sell that, we are interested in the DVC... However, I want the good, the bad and the ugly upfront with this one...

Hi,
Doug and I would like to participate in the Hard Rock pre-cruise meet.... not enough posts to pm. Let us know what we need to do to get signed up.
Thanks so much,
Angela aka Jiminy and Jane

Maybe we could have our own informal DVC information session. I'd be happy to share our experience owning DVC as well. We've been members since 1998.

We bought one of our contracts on the cruise and got a great deal.

I'm uncontrollable when it comes to FE gifts, especially for the girls! I overshopped for gifts, and am probably going to have to cut back on some of the heavier items since they're taking up too much weight and space. Since there were so few kids in my assigned FE groups, I'm actually trying to work out giving gifts to many of the kids (at least all the ones doing FE gifts.)

I think I need an intervention! :rotfl:

Congratulations! So he'll be turning 1 on the cruise? How magical!

How wonderful - celebrating his first birthday on the ship!!! We should have a huge BD party!!!

It's been a bad week:
:grouphug: You could definitely use a cruise!!!

I'm not surprised about Westgate. David Segal :snooty: has been tightening his belt quite a bit lately, even selling his unfinished - what was it, 80,000 square feet :confused3 - home. His wife wanted to be an actress princess:, so he once bought her a movie to act in; my DW did the makeup for that one (don't look for it at Blockbuster - it didn't even make the "B" movie list!). Interesting aside: every one of their children (5, if I remember correctly) has the same birthday as his; they deliberately arrange it that way. :scared1:

We'll have to get together on board and have a little DVC frank and honest discussion :grouphug:. Just so noone is scared away, it can definitely be a great thing depending on what you want out of it as long as you know the whole truth going in. :goodvibes

Hi All
For those of you who are concerned about forgetting something or require something extra for the rest of the journey there's a MORRISONS supermarket only a short(about 10 mins) walk from the terminal....

Thank you!!!

Please send all your spare pixie dust......Belly caught Holly, yep, Holly ate the fish hook, swallowed it whole.....Poor baby needs surgery to remove the hook....

Awe! Poor little puppy girl (and wallet)! :dog: Thank goodness she didn't swallow it unnoticed! Keep us posted on her recover progress!!

Kimberly,

Excellent list (well, as far as a guy can tell). While I will keep out of your 'mentionables' drawer, I thought I'd offer a suggestion regarding your 'tops'.

....1 Ohio State University (American) Football Jersey - Scarlett (Home games on 9/18 and 9/25)
1 Ohio State University (American) Football Jersey - White (Away game on 10/2)

I think Sue thought I was crazy for packing a jersey I wouldn't need until the day we disembark, but one has to have ones priorities. :lmao:
O - H

:lmao: Aren't you the funny guy!!
I'll have my home game jersey on!
logo_ohio_state.gif
I hope Stephen

is coming! :thumbsup2

Here is to another I-O!!

(re: suggestion for Magic Fountain Meeting Place on Thurs) Near the street there is an area that sells food that has tables and chairs. Counter service type stuff and drinks. If you are facing the fountain, it is to the right. When we went in 07 this area had foot traffic, but was not real crowded. It faces the fountain and we had a great view from there......
Glenn, yes to all please! (re: Magic Fountain Meeting Place on Friday)

....alternate is at the SE end of the walkway over Avenguda de Rius i Taulet (at the SE end of Avenguda de la Reina Maria Cristina) - this is the north side of the fountain.....

Thank you for your suggestion Joi (or was it Donna?!)!

Since Michael already declared a specific spot for the Friday night Magic Fountain viewing, to keep it simple, let's make Thursday night the same. I know some have said they will try to come Thursday, but if not due to jet lag, etc., they are planning to go Friday. It would be easier on all to only have to remember one place.

I'll go modify the post on Page 2 and send a request to Glenn to include that in the long description of the Event on the website. I'll also work on a Google Map with an "X" marks the spot.

So again, on Thursday, the primary meeting place is Praktik Rambla Hotel at 20:15/8:15 pm, but if you need to meet at the the fountain, look for me at the location noted above with the purple umbrella with neon yellow ribbons hanging down from the top!

Thanks for reminding me. I just ordered one from Amazon and it was less than 3 Pounds. I goes up to 32kg.....

Excellent!! You're welcome! I had forgotten mine had broke, so I had go out and get a new one last week!

....I have a husband who manages to pack his entire bathroom :rolleyes1 so I'm hoping this will encourage a little less packing on his part!.....We finally got our cruise docs yesterday. My travel agent had them sent to her so she could include a gift with our packet (love my TA!).....

I have to say it's funny to think any DH packs everything but the bathroom sink!!

That's so wonderful that your TA got you a gift!!! It's so exciting to have those documents in your hand, too!!

....Anyway, after booking the first day available for silver people back in October 2008 (in a CAT 11) I have found that after paying the fuel surcharge (and of course not getting it refunded), after two years - I have saved a total of $10.50 by booking early!!!! :thumbsup2

Crazy! :sad2: Regardless. The Good News is we're all going anyways!

... Just a quote note, neither your original post or your copies post have a link to the pin point map.

Thank you for telling me! I have it fixed now!

Tristan turned 11 months yesterday....

I love the photo of your munchkins! Your DD has really grown since the picture I've seen of her previously! I didn't even think about his birthday being while we're on vacation until it was mentioned! That is awesome! Is it possible he be ready to have his first steps with Mickey? ::MickeyMo

Noel, Will this tour and the Madeira tour be added to the Events website or will we just note it in "on your own" portions? I think it would be nice if they could be listed after all the hard work you and Betty have done. Just my thoughts on the issue. Val
