I just went and bought an Ipod touch today. Loving it!!! Really wanted an ipad but will settle for this!!!

I understand NZ has one of the highest percentage of tattooed people in the world - I guess due to our polynesian culture. There is a lot of pride particularly in Maori designs and many Maori and non-Maori have them. We have many world class artists here too and in the city there are tattoo studios everywhere. My cousin got two done here last time he was in New Zealand.

I think the Maori tattoos are striking and quite beautiful.

I'll be fielding the same questions from my 8 and 9 year old, Let me know if you have any better answers than "clothes make them very itchy"? :confused3

That answer is a riot :rotfl::rotfl:.

Oh, It's horrible having sick kids to look after, they are so innocent and helpless. I just want to take away all their pain. I hope she's feeling better soon. :flower3:

Poor little one...hope she feels better soon

:grouphug:Oh,poor baby and poor you. What a terrible time to lose A/C, especially in VA! Hope things get better soon. :grouphug:

Thank you all so much. Her fever has come down a degree or so, and she wants to play again, which is always a good sign :thumbsup2 .

Hi fellow cruisers, I'm Sue, a new cruiser, mother of 'noworriesmate' and grandmother to Nicholas and Lillian. I'm delighted to be joining them on this Atlantic crossing, and certainly look forward to meeting you all.

Hi everyone!
Just popping by to let you know that I'm booking this cruise as a last minute 'sanity saver' for myself!!! My name's Karen, I'm from the UK and this will be my 6th DCL cruise and by far my longest to date! I expect to be in a Cat 7 with late dining.

It'll be a solo trip (my first and I'm more than a little nervous TBH) as the primary purpose is to escape from the Crazy Castle my home has become during a problematic and protracted building/refurb project - such a long and boring story.... :sad2: Anyway, I'm sailing in search of R&R plus the chance to spend some time with friends old and new!!

Welcome to the crew!

Oh, I would hold it too! :scared1: I can hold it for a VERY long time under certain circumstances! This would be one of those circumstances. ;) :rolleyes1

Then you have the other folks (e.g., me) who were blessed w/industrial-strength kidneys and trial-sized bladders. :rotfl: We'd probably have to bite the bullet. BTW, what is that in the left-hand picture??

Price wise, decent. You can probably find cheaper if you look but this place has everything. Sorta like a Wal-mart except you want to shop here. Clothing, grocery, liquor store, health and beauty, LUGGAGE, appliances, LUGGAGE, travel agency, electronics, LUGGAGE and even lladros. You want it? They'll have it. Did I mention they sell luggage?

Sorry for being a bit dim, but what store is this?

and we are so much luckier for you having a boring day!!
bored.gif

Amen!!

We are Dream- ing the last week of Feb and the first of March - 4/3 day cruises = 7 days on the Dream - we will be celebrating Ashlyn's 16th birthday! My aunt, uncle, cousin and his youngest child will be joining us along with my MIL

Krisann

Don't know if you noticed, Krisann, but we'll be on the February cruise w/you.

Congrats on the new iPad!! Bet you will have a lot of fun with your new toy!!

For some reason my multi quote does not seem to work properly and I hope I have not forgotten anything.

First of all, :welcome: to Sue and Karen. It is great to have you join us.

Is anyone planning to cruise in 2011 ... I am thinking about a Med cruise for Tony's 50th birthday ... we have to celebrate him becoming an OFFICIAL geezer as opposed to a "you know what" :rotfl2:

We have one cruise booked so far, a Mexican Riviera Cruise in October, on which we will celebrate our vow renewal. We are also really wanting to do another cruise in April or May, which probably will be booked on fairly short notice. Contenders for that are the EBTA (depending how DH enjoys this one as he is not too keen on sea days), another Med cruise or even a back to back cruise on the Dream.

Hi Corinna,
Is this for your jewellery workhops?? I too would love to join in - shall I PM you??? Could you direct me to the details - I'm rushing to get thro' the thread but it's pretty crazy and I may miss something... xxx

Yes, I have posted all the info about this on page 2 of thread 8. It is all over the place on here. If you want in, can you please PM me your preferences?

Corinna

Welcome!

When I called the other day to request a server the guy at DVC said that we may not get room assignments for up to 2 weeks before the cruise :scared1: That really shocked me. Hopefully it will be sooner than that.

I think the med cruise before ours is getting their assignments so hopefully not too long to wait until we all get our upgrades :rotfl2:

So I guess the most important thing at this stage is to ask if someone could let me know what (if anything) is left to sign up for - I would be most grateful. :goodvibes

OK, the introduction's over - better go and compile a packing list. Can't believe I'm doing this!!! :woohoo:

Welcome - I'm organising the candy swap - let me know if you want to join before August 1st if you are interested. Check page 1 and 2 of each thread.

You just took that to another level and I love it,:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Geez, its is always me that does it? Underwear, socks in the plane toilets, now these comments... yeah ok, its is always me :rotfl:

These are the women's toilets in the food hall/market in St. Petersburg....the had the nerve to charge 15 rubles to use them! I held it!

To be fair, they looked pretty ok to me. I've travelled to many developing countries and seen & used a lot worse.

When travelling through Indonesia (Sumatra), Viet Nam, Cambodia, Egypt etc, we learnt quickly when in restaurants to not go to visit the facilities before you ate. Usually you go through the kitchen and once you've seen the kitchen and the bathroom, you wouldn't want to eat there :rotfl2:

Particularly in Sumatra (where very few western tourists go), we took quite a few pics of the toilets - they were quite incredible - usually literally a hole in the ground, often outside, with a modesty panel. Tissue into the bucket which they then burn. No flushing but a bucket of water with a ladle to "flush". Great care needed to be taken especially at night when going to the toilet with the aid of a torch/flashlight.

One time at Singapore airport, where they have mostly western style toilets, one stall is usually a squat one. I got off our flight and there was a massive queue of women all waiting for the western style toilets. I just said "excuse me" and used the squat one (I don't mind them when travelling as I don't have to "touch" it ;) ). Some of them looked so shocked that I'd even consider using it. As I came out of the stall I said "none of you have ever been camping?". Another lady said "well thats true" and then they started using it.

I'd take a squat loo any day over some of the portaloos I've seen on construction sites where its men only. :scared1:

After the WBTA what would you say will be the next cruise to draw such a big crowd???

Wonder PC, the TAs next year and probably the early Dream cruises.

I love that you are tracking all the statistics. We are all going to have to figure out a really great trip to do again with this group say in 2012. What do you guys think? By 2012, there should be more options and gives the rest of us plenty of time to obsess about the trip.

Can someone do a spreadsheet for this please? :rotfl2:

I feel as if I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. It seems so romantic and faraway!!!

Hawaii is gorgeous. Cruise is a great way to do it but NCL is very "basic". I've been to Oahu a few times and we also did a 10 day NCL cruise (when they had two ships there) which was a great way to see the islands as the ship docked for 2 days at most places.

Look I am starting to get a complex here. Why am I being ignored? I go to chat, the doorbell rings and no one is home.

I am a clean and friendly person. Yes. I am sarcastic, but I mean no harm. I do my best to not curse. So what is it? I am starting to feel like lyness (or whatever his name is from peanuts).

I am going to become a stalker pretty soon. Now stop hiding from me.;)

LOL - sounds like you hit a broken chat link - you need to go to the main disboards page www.disboards.com and do it from there. Try again, same time tomorrow when its podcast chat.

Since we were talking about stats - The most expensive regular toll for canal passage to date was charged on May 16, 2008 to the Disney Magic, which paid US$331,200.[25][26] The least expensive toll was 36 cents to American adventurer Richard Halliburton, who swam the canal in 1928.[27] The average toll is around US$54,000.

cool stats
Welcome!

Welcome!

LOL, is this a A.P.B.?

Pj
lol, thats funny.just as well I watch too much usa canadian cop shows or i WOULDNT HAVE KNOWN WHAT YOU MEAN.
So funny these artistic Taryns are an ocean apart, years apart, but so similar!

Well I am sitting here quite miserable for my trouble today. My allergies are quite severe, even after an antihistamine. I am so allergic to dust and boy was there plenty. We managed to strip the room bare (my livingroom looks like I am a hoarder - best close the blinds!), dusted, wet-dusted, cleaned everything, swept and washed the floors, and managed to sort, organize and put away every stitch of clothing she owns (and mentally made a packing list for the trip), and rearranged her furniture. The room looks great! The problem is, none of her stuff is in it! :rotfl: Tomorrow we do the yucky stuff of going through everything and purging. She is so not looking forward to letting anything go. But part of being a parent is to introduce them to new and challenging things, and this activity has that in spades. Our reward for tomorrow is going to IKEA for new sheets and her desk.

Sorry to write about my totally suburban day, but I feel quite accomplished!

tHATS COOL.

Hi Corinna, R and I are thrilled to be included in the group. We would both like to do the Champagne Girl necklace and if possible the Pirate themed cellphone charm. One of her favourite games to play with me was "pirates" so this will be a nice souvenir of those days as well as this trip but we will go along with anything you decide to do Thanks again for arranging this. I love the idea for your t-shirt. What a nice surprise for your DH. Trudy

I have updated your preferences.

I appreciate this, but do not want to be any trouble. If you cannot do it with out stress, wee will understand. No worries.

In case you do proceed: DSis is Poohluvsfigment

No tea booked.

Dsis wedding renewal ceremony id on the 27th at 1030, so we would be out that day.

I do not remember the choices. If bracelet is one, then that is it. Otherwise, no pref. Just wanted to learn how to make jewlery. We have all the stuff, but it never worked out for us. No time to go to the bead shop and take a class either.

No trouble at all. I love making jewellery and I love teaching even more. I am really looking forward to sharing my hobby with other people. I will PM you the choices.

Corinna

Done. Thanks for doing this. Here are some pictures of our son's wedding from Sunday.

This is such a cute photograph .. what a gorgeous little boy .

What an amazing plane ... now that would cure my fear of flying :thumbsup2

I just went and bought an Ipod touch today. Loving it!!! Really wanted an ipad but will settle for this!!!

I had a play with an Ipad in the Apple Store recently and thought it a bit bulky and heavy for carrying around on vacation .. I opted for the Ipod Touch too ... I love it. Very light and portable. Probably will lose it as it's so light and portable. I have managed to get online with it in WiFi hotspots which thrilled me no end .... I have finally caught up with the 21st century. Now all I need is a working mobile phone.

Is anyone planning to cruise in 2011 ... I am thinking about a Med cruise for Tony's 50th birthday ... we have to celebrate him becoming an OFFICIAL geezer as opposed to a "you know what" :rotfl2:

We are on the January Panama Canal.:cool1: That is a fantastic cruise.

Right all, off to bed as I am travelling down to see my parents for a few days tomorrow :cool1: I know you'll be well onto part 8 by the time I get back so have fun all!:grouphug:

Have a good trip Mandy.

Gus just gave me an iPad for my birthday!!! Woohoooo!!!! :dance3:

Now I have something cool to play with on the long flight....if we get to fly (we're on BA).

Now I will have a way of spotting you!!!:cool1: I will have my iPad too!!!!

:headache:Im in a bad mood cause I was really busy at work last night and needed a sleep, summer and nightshift just doesnt go, its not our neighbours fault but they are "doing my head in" every time I shut my eyes they turn on some kinda noisyn machine:sad1: Anyway, gave up on sleep, being tired is better than frustrated and tired, waiting for Len to come in and going for a run.

Speak to you guys from work tonight, Lynne

Sleep deprivation is the worst. Chris often does night flights and if he doesn't get any sleep the next day he's, wel let's just say, a little grumpy.

These are the women's toilets in the food hall/market in St. Petersburg....the had the nerve to charge 15 rubles to use them! I held it!

i've had many similar experiences traveling around Asia, it is amazing how long you can hold when you have to and good for building up good pelvic floor muscles.

So there will be 3 descendants on this cruise. MY DH, is a descendant of John Hopkins. Who had the only child born on the sailing. Her name was "Oceana." Now I hope you 3 do not repeat the behaviors of you ancestors. With almost burning down the ship, and having a baby onboard. This is way to much excitement to have to endure again.:rotfl2:

wow being a Mayflower decendant sounds impressive - in Australia we get excited if you have a convict in your past. :lmao:

I'd love to go to Hawaii!:cool1:

:littleangel:

Hawaii is on our list. we are just waiting for the DVC resort to open.

I totally understand - in a foolish moment i started sorting DS lego.... nine hours later is was all done.
