Some questions for those who have been to Gibraltar before.

The taxis out in the port. Do they take you where you want to go, or have they set tours?

The caves. Can you see these on the same tour as the rock?

Is it better to do the DCL tours, organise one of your own, or just go and get a taxi from the line?

What is best to see for a first and probably only visit?

Okay - I believe someone had posted about this before but there are way too many posts to try to find it so I'm just going to ask here and hopefully someone will be able to help...

I thought I saw where someone arranged for their transportation from the airport to the hotel and also prepaid. I'd love to get this out of the way so I'm hoping someone can pass on the information. - Thanks!

Transportation post on page one has been updated with all the new details :)

I'm actually looking for information from someone that posted about arranging their transportation from the airport to the hotel and prepaying. I didn't see that information posted on page one - just the information from Stephen on the transportation from the hotel to the port. If I missed it, can you direct me to the post number?

thanks!

Hayley,

that's a horrible thing to have happen to your mum. There's nothing worse than being a decent, loving and trusting person and having the low lifes of this world take advantage of this.
At least if he is put away for a while your mum can get on with her life knowing he can't bother her.I really hope things work out well for her (and really badly for him as he deserves).

would the characters sign things like tote bags? or even an apron or similar? but not a tea towel it would be just wrong to dry dishes with Minnie or even a princess...
they could be different ideas that you could get a lot of use out of.

Taxis will take you where you want to go.

Will "self guided" tours of the tunnels give historical information about the area? When I read that, it seems like a silly question...but I'm not sure how to phrase it. :confused3 We are history buffs..... Should we take a DCL tour with a guide that will give information and answer questions, or are there people available in the tunnel and museum to do that? I guess what I am trying to say is that we not only want to see the sites, but want to know what we are looking at.

Just thought I would post a few photos from our weekend away. We visited Chatsworth House which is a spectacular stately home in Derbyshire, England.
Well worth a visit if anyone gets the chance. It is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, one of their ancestors was Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire who was played by Keira Knightly in the film "The Duchess". The house and gardens were absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere was straight from another time. I almost expected Mr Darcy to emerge from the lake

So sorry I haven't been posting for a couple of days, you wouldn't believe the last couple of days i have had! Let me start with a little background. My mum has been in a relationship with a man for about 4-5 years, she left him about 6 months ago. Their house is in his name, but when mum sold her house she put a large chunk of money on his home loan as they were in a relationship, it was about $300 000. Since she has left him, her lawyer has started proceedings to retrieve Mum's money, as that was the deal agreed upon. He had to sign all the paperwork last week and was not happy that the house would be sold and he would come out with virtually nothing. So, on Saturday night he burnt the house down, yes...I am serious, he burnt the house to the ground. Luckily Mum had removed all of her things 2 weeks ago with Police present as she was scared of him and what he would do. But the house is completely gone. He has been arrested and charged with Arson, and faced court today.
We have now learnt of his history, and he is a con man who has done this before. He tries to scam women out of money, and has a trail of victims.
Honestly, It is embarrassing to tell people this as it makes us sound like some crazy, weird family. But the truth is, My mum works at Corrective Services, my sister is a psychologist and works as a parole officer, my brother owns a successful JetSki business, and we are all good people.
Anyway, I feel safe with you guys, I know your not judgmental, and I promise we are really nice, good people......maybe a little too trusting.......obviously......:confused3

So, I have been reading on my iPhone, just haven't had a chance to get to the computer. I know there was lots of people I wanted to reply to, please forgive me, I'm back now! :)

That is terrible! I can't believe that a person could treat another human being like that...Please know that I'm thinking about your mom and your family during this time.

When I did my College Program at WDW, I was a character greeter. Anyway, we were told that it's fine to sign anythig that is Disney or anything that is plain. Whether or not that has changed, I don't know. If you do bring along a towel, tote bag or apron, make sure to have the proper pens/markers for the characters as well as something for the characters to sign it on.

Apart from pillowslips and photo frames, what else do people get autographed by the characters? :goodvibes

Cheers

The one thing that I did when I was on my CP was I had the characters sign one of those multi-story books. I had the characters either sign by their picture or at the title page of their story. It's a wonderful memento to have.

Way to go!!!! I lost only one pound last week...although it's a loss I was hoping for me. Oh well...

Hello all....the Magic really looks great.....and now a question from my DW....on this transatlantic cruise....will they have themed t-shirts and sweatshirts from the WB transatlantic? I already know that I am in trouble with those special pocketbooks that they are selling....gonna wipe out our onboard credit in one single transaction....and we have 2 weeks on the ship to spend money....or should I say my wife has 2 weeks to spend money....ah....its just money....I can always make some more...
Tom

Um, would this be a good time to mention the silent auction they had back in '07? Um, yeah, I "won" the two one of a kind Paddy Gordon Leather purses of The Evil Queen and Merryweather? Missed the Ursula one. :sad1:

A question my Mum asked, are we likely to see any wildlife while crossing the Atlantic? Dolphin or whales particularly - she's wondering whether to take her binoculars.

Paula,

I think that dolphins were sighted last TA. In fact, if it hasn't been answered yet - still some pages behind, ask DisneySweetie, PAM, I think she may of seen some, I usually not that lucky or spoke with someone who saw them. If she's interested (your mom) prob best to pack them.

Well at least you didn't say she is lazy!!!;):lmao: I love that computer term.

Noel is up at her house on the lake with a grandson or granddaughter for a week or so.

Not sure about the wildlife crossing the Atlantic, but I would take binoculars anyway. Lots to see elsewhere closer to land, and you never know what you might see. We use them ever such a lot on cruises.

Well, Lazy would have fit the before Laura, now, I was actually at the gym. Just forgot to log out.

As for the Binoculars, I agree, take them. I sometimes use my long lens to focus on the lands in port before I get off. I should just take binoculars. :)

Anyway, I feel safe with you guys, I know your not judgmental, and I promise we are really nice, good people......maybe a little too trusting.......obviously......:confused3

Hayley, it is Hayley right?

:grouphug: So sorry to hear about your mom's plight. I hope things go in her direction from here on out. As others have said, no need to justify her actons. I have always maintained, the heart wants what the hearts wants and usually no amount of "logic" will make it change its mind. The important thing is that you are all alive, things could have been much, much worse for her. Seems like she knew that and took precautions. What I have learned is this:

What goes around, comes around, maybe not while we are able to see it, but really, it does come around - and usually with a bigger whammie!

What does not kill us, makes us stronger. Use this to make your familial ties that much stronger. Support your mom as best you can. It will bring you that much closer.

Be happy she's alive and just take baby steps until your able to take regular strides.

and last but not least, our DIS family usually is filled with awesome people that I used to escape here to make myself feel better. I always left more hopeful and thus it usually impacted me in far better ways than if I wallowed in it myself.

Feel free to vent and cry if you need, this is a traumatic event and I don't care how often that man did it - its still a horrific ordeal to have to experience. Take care and glad you've been able to pop in during your time.

Im so sorry that you and your mum are going thru such a terrible time. Prayers and pixie dust to all of you.
All I can say is that some people are so terrible, only the law should take care of them.
I hope your Mum gets her money back, and since it's arson, I hope he goes to jail for a long time.
Vent away.... :thumbsup2

And on a lighter side..... We got our "air" today!:cool1:
Looks like we'll be there will be a DisMeet on our flight!:rotfl2:

Was the film partially or filmed here at all? It looks familiar. (Never been there) but the house looks so familiar. :scratchin

On the last WBTA there were flying fish and the Captain reported seeing brown ****ies!
