My friends have warned me that cigarette smoke is everywhere in Spain. For those of us that have major health issue with this it may be a problem. They advise that even in the best restaurants requests for a non-smoking section is a huge joke to them. Anyway, a recent travel column by Christopher Elliott suggests you contact the hotel directly to confirm your request for a non-smoking room and be prepared for your room not to be smoke free. Have any of you a suggestion on how to deal with this? val

I had a feeling this was the case. I will just have to bring my heavy duty migraine medicine since I get migraines. I have a vial called uh oh migraine that if I catch the offending odor soon enough, I wipe it on my upper lip and try to smell just that. Doesn't always work, but I do what I can.

Just out of curiousity, I checked online to see if there was anything other GTY status for Cat 4 through 8 and there isn't. I wonder if this means fewer chances for upgrades? We are in an 8 and we like that.

Weight Watchers is great! I really enjoy the program because you can go out for dinner with friends and family and not worry because you can always eat something on the menu. My Weight Watcher leader just got back from a cruise and she only gained 1 pound! I thought that was pretty impressive!

So true... I wanna lose more weight just to have some extra pounds to gain again.

Great photos ... everyone looks as though they are having a ball and the venue looks lovely. We don't tend to have a "rehearsal dinner" here or even a rehearsal come it think of it ( well we didn't ). Do you do it the day before the wedding?

Same here. No such thing...
But DH and I got married in Las Vegas.

I checked last week and you could still get rooms assigned in Cat 5. Wonder what that means? Maybe they've sold so many Cat 6GTY that now you can't get them. My FIL gave up his assigned Cat 5 room on Deck 7 to rebook us at the MIL rates, and I'm forever hopeful that he can get a Cat 5 in the same area back.

August 28 Med cruise on Magic -- just assigned today. Booked a Cat 12 GTY, now have cabin 5140, a Cat 7 Navigator's Verandah.

I just checked on the cruise site and category 12 - 6 are GTY. Category 5 & 4 each have 8 cabins listed to choose from but my experience has been that there are often more available and they only list 8. the site wouldn't even let me select above cat 4 so I don't know if that means they are sold out or you have to call to get info on those.

Great video and pictures. I did the same type of video for our son's wedding and it was a big hit. I can tell you as I was putting it together it brought back so many memories. I shed a few tears as I saw the boy become a man. We adopted our son when he was 6 and his wife was adopted when she was 7 so we had no baby pictures. We started the video with pictures of the two of them coming home from Russia. I was able to sneak the last picture in of them kissing at the wedding. We showed the video at the reception just before their first dance. This was the first time they and his in-laws had seen it and I cried during the entire thing. They were tears of joy.

I hope the same happy memories came flooding back for your family as you watched the video. It is wonderful to watch them become adults through the pictures. It looks like they had a beautiful wedding and were very happy on the wedding day.

Thanks for all the compliments on the dress. Now the waiting game begins again. As this is custom made to my measurements, it will take about a month to be made, but if the last one is anything to go by, it will be well worth the wait.

We stayed in Barcelona for 4 nights before our Med cruise, at 2 different hotels. No one had smoked in the rooms that we had. We also ate out every evening, only 1 of them outside and smoking was certainly not a problem or something that we noticed.
I would notice as I gave up smoking 13 months ago.
I also noticed that some European countries, are getting better at providing smoke free areas and non smoking rooms.
I will add though that this was our experience.
