Better question: you mean you actually WEAR socks?!? I will be avoiding socks for most of this cruise altogether! During the summer I try to wear non-sandal/flip flop shoes as seldom as possible. EVen when we are dressed for dinner I wear sandals with my khaki pants and dress shirts and ties....I can't stand shoes. The only solid shoes we will bring will be our tux shoes which we'll wear on formal nights and which we also wear under our boot covers on pirate night....but beyond that I will have sandals on all the time I'm able to!! :thumbsup2

No socks= less :laundy:

I went shopping with my Mum today to help her choose a wedding outfit for a wedding we have in August ... she was unsuccessful, but I was thrilled to find 2 pairs of CRUISE SHOES and they are really lightweight :dance3:

I thought you only shopped on ebay!:rotfl2:

Don't forget to take your iron tabs with orange juice and you will absorb it better if you don't take caffeine an hour before or after. Plenty of fruit and veg and don't forget the prunes if needs must.
I would be worried with only a 1lb wt gain:lmao:

You know Sarah, I forgot I was told that !!! opps, no tea or coffee right after dinner, I always have tea or coffee after or with lunch etc.

Only things I can wear without socks are my crocks, I have to have my sockies on.

love the silver shoes.

VAl, I am sorry to say but non smoking anything is a joke in spain, its funny, last time we went we had forgot what it was like to be out and smokey, it was like the "old days"
I am sure the big posh places will be fine, not sure about hotel rooms, I never was bothered by the smell left so hopefully it should be fine. Also at least you can eat outside in spain.

When we went to las vegas last year I was shocked that folks were allowed to smoke pretty much anywhere.[/QUOTE]

Here in California some think we are to extreme about the non-smoking issue. I understand how they feel, even though my husband should not be around cigarette smoke for medical reasons. Smoking is baned in all public buildings, even around the outside doors of the building. Now our supervisors want to ban smoking in your home if you live in a multi-dwelling building. i.e. apartment or condo. I have to support my smoking friends who say they should be able to do so in their own home. Of course this is a city with garbage inspectors. You can be cited if you mis-sort your garbage - we have three cans issued to us, one for recycles, one for garbage and one for compostables. We have always recycled but trying getting my 75 year old dad to do it is impossible.

Have any of you US people ever been to the 'Schooner or Later' eaterie in LA (I think that was where it was) ? SOme friends got us interested in the show 'Diners, Drive Ins and Dives' and this place looked so lovely!:cool1:

(Glad I'd eaten when I watched it otherwise I'd have been sooooo hungry!):rotfl2:

:littleangel:

Now you've gone and done it. I think we'll be joining in with one of your groups.

If you are interested in joining the Madeira group, read the link on page one, post #9. After reading the link, if you want to go, please send me a PM of how many in your group, any children, if yes, what ages and if they need car or booster seats and if you are tasting at Blandy's.

Thank you all for the tips/reassurance on iron tablets! Gonna have to remember the tip on OJ and caffeine!

Well the mystery of my blood results is now sorted - well sort of. The second lot of bloods taken didn't go missing (Thank God) but unfortunately I am aneamic and need Iron tablets. Luckily it doesn't look like its being caused by anything serious so just Iron tablets for God knows how long.

Krisann those Exlax chocolates might be needed if the horror stories I've been reading about Iron tablets are true lol!

Sarah,

I'd try to start the iron tablets as soon as you can. I am anemic also and take two 325mg iron tablets a day. I had stomach issues when I first started taking them, but now don't have any problems at all. My hemoglobin went from 7.4 to over 10 in one month, so it didn't take very long for me to get back up to normal (or closer to normal anyway). My doctor said she thought I'd need to take iron for the rest of my life.

our house outside wins competitions in our town every year - and this year will be even bigger.

I will start putting trees together in October up in the attic after the cruise - and we will also start putting up our outside lights in October also! All the decorations - inside and out are up and ready by the first Sunday of Advent.

This was our winning house last Christmas.

Mike usually starts putting up the lights after Thanksgiving because it takes about 3 or 4 days to get them all up and he can only do it on weekends. We don't run the actual display until about the middle of Dec (or about there) until (usually) the first weekend in January. We also have a computer light program that we use that makes the lights go on and off and shimmer and twinkle.
