Acourtwdw (Amanda & Annette) still doing the FE.
If the port at Barcelona is like Port Canaveral, you check in, then there is a different line for the id picture. So your kids wouldn't need to be at the check in counter with you.

Unfortunately at Barcelona, they take the photo at the check in desk.

Its in the Castaway Club area. On the left it tells you what level you are and how many cruises you have taken. It then gives a link to "View My Cruises". It has your past and upcoming cruises listed.

I will have had 50 nights onboard before I become gold.

We actually booked B2B kids sail free cruises on the Wonder, with the sole purpose of getting that 5th cruise in before this one. But I just couldn't do it. I couldn't get psyched up for 2 days at Port Canaveral and 2 stops in Nassau. So we decided instead to spend 3 days at WDW, and won't make Gold until after this trip.

The one big bummer, perhaps about that, is the last rumor I heard about the Fantasy is that those bookings will start for Gold the last week of Sept. while we're on the ship. I may have to do some sweet talking if that's the case to see about booking her while onboard.

....I am glad I could share something!
Your presents to your family were so thoughtful of you, I get that vibe from you, You are very always thinking of others. :goodvibes
You really should send away for one for your scrapbook! :thumbsup2
I have 1 photo mat and a pillowcase for each of my girls (embroidered with their names and favourite characters, from Gradysmommy, ebay). ;)
.....

I am glad too!! I immediately tucked that address away for a special occasion! See. Yes. You are right. I'm always thinking about others. :) Maybe it's the Libra in me. :confused3

Tiffany (Gradysmommy) is amazing with her talent and has a sweet, fun personality! We sailed with her nearly two years ago. She's one of those special gems with a heart of gold! I just love it when I look at cabin door pictures and videos and see fish extenders that she's made for people. She's really become the FE queen of the seas! Do you like the pillow cases? What characters did you get on them?

At our DIS meets, Tiffany approached me with a big hug and thank you. She then handed over to me this beautiful large light pink lined tote with turquoise and brown hibiscus flowers on it that she made for me.....just because. That's just how she is! It's going with me on this cruise, so you'll see it! It just ever so discretely has miniatures Minnies and dotted hidden Mickey heads on it. She made one for herself, too, so there were times we were walking around the ship with the same bag!! She and her family were booked on this cruise with us, but they had to change their plans last summer. I was so disappointed that they switched to another cruise, but lucky them, they got to do a B2B and managed to surprise the kids with the second cruise until after they got disembarked from the first leg of their adventure! You would have loved her! Hopefully you will get a chance to meet her some day!

I need some input from people on this tour if they want the large bus versus the smaller one. I am going to suggest the she post here on the DIS.

Hello Noel,

We’ve been thinking that, as your group has been growing so much, maybe we’ll accommodate you in a 55 passenger bus and you’ll have not only a driver, but a guide as well. Now, I need to know if you and your group like the idea. Even though it will be one driver and one vehicle only, the price will still be the same, because we’ll be adding the guide, which is necessary in a group this big.

Thank you so much for having taken care of Dee Judson, it was so kind of you.

Oh… tell your tour companions that the Cable car and the Toboggan rides aren’t included in our price either. Just for a reminder: a one way Cable Car ride costs 10 Euros and the Toboggan ride costs 12.50 Euros.

Yes, when the other people pay through Paypal, if they add a note saying that they’re coming in “Noel Birkner’s group”, will be quite fine.

Another thing… if this interests you… I’ve been answering questions about Madeira on Cruise Critic. I saw a thread about Madeira started by someone else, but the OP had disappeared and there were some unanswered questions, so I went ahead and started answering. Here is the link:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=998248 . My screen name is biaria, from Eusébia Maria, my two Christian names. When I went to CC to get this link, I saw that there is a thread started specially for me, I’ll go read it when I finish e-mailing you.

Still another thing… did you see our website already? If you didn’t, you can have a look here: http://www.danielmadeirataxis.com/

All the best,

These are the answers to questions some of you asked me to ask her. Any more, please let me know.

Hello again Noel,

1. For your tour to include the Cable car and the Toboggan rides, plus the
West tour and to have you back in Funchal for your Blandy's tour at 4:30pm,
I'm afraid there won't be enough time for a swim in the volcanic pools in
Porto Moniz. In fact, we'll tell the driver to have you at Blandy's no later
than 4:15pm. This whole itinerary will take something like 7 hours, but
stops will have to be short, otherwise it'll take longer.

2. Likewise, it won't be possible to spend extra time in Monte, after the
Cable Car ride.

3. Children usually like the Toboggan ride. Apart from that, Madeira doesn't
have many options specially directed to children as tourists.

Hope you're having a nice day!

Cheers,

Eusébia.

My vote is for smaller buses/vans. I think that will keep us all moving more easily. For example, waiting for 15 people vs. 50 people to finish their toboggan ride before moving to the next destination would stagger the "crowd". Also, once one bus fills up at the port, they can get started down the road, again, staggering us just a bit. Putting it down to basics, it's less "standing in line" time and more quality touring time, IMO.

Additionally, as I recall, some do not want to go to Blandy's. So having separate vehicles that will have a final destination of the ship instead of Blandy's likely won't incur a greater cost because Daniel's would then have to make two stops (one for Blandy's and one for the Magic).

Those are my thoughts. :)

HA!! Everything we say is important!! :rotfl2::laughing:

We have one of those as well! "Chip and Dale" ;) got it autographed for me. :lovestruc It took several months to get all the signatures. The first page of each story is signed by all the characters in the story. I even have Lady and Tramp's footprints! My favorite souvineer of all time!

Hey, Mom. I have my Chip an Dale autographed photo on the fridge here. :rotfl:

I agree and would vote for smaller busses/vans. For those not going to Blandy's, would we still be able to go to the volcanic pools in Porto Moniz?

You guys read my mind. The first thing I did after reading Kimberly's post was use her words directly in an email.

I think that is on the tour anyway for lunch. We can ask him to go there I would think as this is a custom tour.

Send me a PM to remind me to ask in the next email go around. You should also PM the HallsofVA who are thinking of going on the tour with their kids.

I'm just throwing out some random questions/thoughts on the tour but I plan to go-with-the-flow. Majority rules. Also, I know it's going to be a great time no matter what we decide to do, I just want to see what others are thinking and wondering if I'm out in left field:

1. One Big bus vs. several smaller bus: How are the roads? Are they to narrow for a big bus? I like the idea being able to do the tour in one bus with our own personal guide but don't want to be scared out of my mind as we drive around the island on small roads in a very big bus. Thoughts? Am I crazy?

2. No time in Porto Moniz for volcanic pools: How much time (approximately) will we have in the towns we are visiting. I want to see as much of the island as possible but I also want to enjoy the sights. Does she have a guesstimate of how much time we will have in each of the towns? Will we have time to shop, take pics, eat honey cake, etc.? Are we trying to do too much while we are there? Thoughts?

I think that you could be ok for gold, once you check in, at least for booking on board. if not that really isn't cool, since once you check in you are finishing that 5th cruise, you really can't cancel then, lol.

So if that is true, I need to have deposit funds open for a 2012 cruise while on the TA, hmmmm

I have already address the bus versus vans in my last email.

I have added your questions/concerns to the next email I will be sending her when we get more feedback.

I think we can see the pools, just not swim in them. However, I believe you have valid concerns. I too do not want to make this If it is Tuesday, It's Belgium tour. I am expressing that concern to her also. We want to enjoy what we see not race by the attractions.

Since this is a custom tour, we need to make it what WE want. More input is really needed from everyone to make this a memorable tour.

Called DCL Castaway Club number. I was told you have to have COMPLETED 5 cruises to be gold and 10 to be platinum. Knowing good old DCL, the next person to call will get a different answer!!:rotfl::rotfl:

The one I book on board this cruise will be my 10th, my final gold cruise, sigh...I will miss being gold. Platinum is really just paler silver, ;)

I also, think the smaller vehicles might be the way to go. I like the idea of not having to wait for 50 people and as ready you can can get moving to the next stop. Sounds like this would not have a "guide" so does that mean we won't have anyone telling us about stuff we are seeing or why we are stopping at XY&Z. If that is the case then I may have a different view point about the 1 large bus and the guide. I am also of the mind set that I don't have to see everything just to say I saw it. Would prefer to have less stops so we can actually enjoy the places we see (assuming there is something to do in each of the towns we stop in) and just for the record - I am not a shopper.

Also, I thought this was a 5 hour tour starting at 9 am for 30 Euros? Is it now 7? Sorry maybe I missed something.

Tour starts at 8:30 AM and goes directly to the Cable car and toboggan ride. Tour ends at 4:15 at Blandy's or they will take you back to the ship. Cost is 30 Euro for the total tour. Those of us who are touring and tasting will have to make our own way back to the ship.

I want to be clear this is a custom tour and we all can make it what we want. If we are going way too fast without seeing anything but from the van windows, that is not what I want. We may want less stops and more time in the places we visit.

I like the idea of a guide also but also like the flexibility of smaller vans. Maybe they will allow us to have more than one guide? It is something I can at least ask.

We have plenty of time to get this sorted out and they are willing to work with us to make our "perfect" itinerary.

Please keep your suggestions and questions coming!!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Last night, my DH and I went to see "Toy Story 3". I had to cry! It was a happy and sad cry...but it was a wonderful movie. When TS2 came out, I had just started working at my Disney Store 6 months before and look at me now - 11 years later and I'm still there! :thumbsup2
Loved that movie!!!:goodvibes

Thanks
Just checked again though. Only availability is for 9pm on any of the nights most people want. That is, avoiding Formal nights, Pirates night, Port days etc.
We have had the 9pm slot before, and didnt over enjoy it so late. We don't mind the late time, but felt we were in the way of clearing up!

I have reserved for Tortola night at 830pm, so we will see how it goes when on board. Still hoping for Brunch!

I have booked Parasailing on CC for 1230, but am wondering whether to keep or not. Originally DH promised this as part of my christmas present last year :lovestruck. But he did say I could change to something else if I wish. My main concern is that we are at CC for such a short time, how can I sacrifice the time at |Serenity Bay! It would mean not getting down there until likely 2pm. And then its Lunch to rush....Will be pondering this one! As dedicated beach bums, we normally hit the loungers and stay there lol. Am thinking might be better to have a massage or something on a sea day, when weather may limit our sunbed time by the adult pool!

On another note, has anyone ever tried the teeth whitening? My dentist is rather negative about such treatments, muttering darkly about long term effects. Any one any thoughts or experience? How well does it work?

Lyn
Lyn, just my two cents, if I wanted to parasail, I would, The parasailing at CC was really nice. Great view. It's only an hour of your CC time. YMMV. :goodvibes

Here are lyrics:

Sneakin down your alley way
And knockin' on your door
Thought I had enough
But I'm back for more
Cinnamon, let me in
Knock, knock, let me in
I won't go away
Oh, uh, uh
I'm gonna see ya
If it takes all day
Oh, uh uh
Cinnamon let me in
She la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la la, la, la, la
One potato, two potato
Three potato, four
Open up, Cinnamon
I want more
Five potato, six potato
Seven potato, eight
Give it to me, Cinnamon
I can't wait
You can't hide, girl
I'm comin' inside, girl
Do what you want to
Baby, I'll let you
Might as well face it
Cinnamon, you know I'm gonna get ya
She la, la, la, la, la, la
La, la la, la, la, la
She la, la, la, la, la, la

How about Love is All Around Us by the Troggs or Elenore by the Turtles?

I know all of those old songs. I checked my iTunes Library for "Cinnamon" and it was there and after playing it I do remember it. Does this allow me to be in the geezer fraternity now?
