Noel, i agree, it would suit anybody, Mum has retired now, she does bit n bobs but really enjoys her retirement. She used to work in a design room, making stuff that the designers designed to see what they "really" looked like and if it was possible to make them before going into production. Dont ask her what she thinks of an outfit cause she will turn over the seams and check them out:rotfl2:

I have just remembered I have came to work and have forgoten to do my Dads fathers day card:confused:
Oh well, Len will have to do it.(fathers day in the uk tom)

Boy do I know that one about the quality of clothing. Both of them would rant and rave about quality of material, buttons and zippers. I never owned a garment without a lining until I started buying store made clothing.

I think it is kind of like a carpenter seeing nail holes or something along those lines. My friend has this gorgeous old custom house. What my father admired most was the fact that you could not see any nails in the wooden walls. He spent hours examining the walls. Go figure!!

The following people are still outstanding on cruise and/or tasting shirt payments.

Walt & Di, TheCooksLuvDisney, TA2, SueL, Pilk, JaxJags, DizneyFan1968, DisneyTrek, DisneyNut64, CinderBear, Belle1997, BibbidyBobbidyBoo, Barecuda, AlexTurner74, Alexandmaddie, AhoyCaptainMickey, Acourtdw

I know that many people are not on the boards all that often, so if you are in contact with any of these folks, please encourage them to log in, grab details from page 1. We want to get the shirts moving on Monday so if you haven't paid, we (Todd and I) would appreciate you making payment ASAP.

If you are not on the list, you have either paid, confirmed check being sent or reached out in some way shape or form - THANKS!!

Back to planning...

I love all the gorgeous gowns people are buying!! I wish I could sew as I found this fabulous Vogue pattern that has all the combos I want.

My mother or Grandmother always made all my clothes and costumes for us or grandkids so I never learned to sew which was not too smart on my part.

Here is pics of what I am looking for if anybody has any suggestions where I can find things like these:

those are lovely Noel, and would be perfect.

I have a couple of cocktail type dresses Maz that I shall be wearing, plus trousers and nice tops, as well as a couple of 'cruise' dresses (nice summery dresses)....I do own a ball gown but don't think I shall be bringing that....

You should bring your ball gown Mandy - unless the baggage allowance is a problem??

The last few nights I have been awake in the middle of the night and still awake at 5am.....what's the betting that tomorrow morning I shall want to sleep in and miss the booking time with DCL?!!!:scared1:

Must remember to set my alarm just in case.....and take the lap top to bed!:lmao:

Hope everyone gets what they want booked :goodvibes

I normally don't sleep well the night I have to get up to book. I suppose it is on my subconscious mind1:confused3 Insult to injury I say!

Since you are showering, I am sure that any outfit you wear will be fine!!

Hahaha, well at least I will smell sweet.;)

Calling all Siver CC members who will be able to book tonight - Are you ready!!! I'm not!!!! I'm not sure what I want to do. :confused3 I've been reading the boards, the pdf preview file of the passporters cruise book, and the DCL website but have no firm plans yet.

Although the private tour in Madeira being set up sounds like fun. Is there still room for 2 more?

Well, off to do some errands and back to the computer for research. :hippie:
Best make up your mind quick!

I have a wonder***l prize for the winning cabin!!

May be interested in this - Stephen has o bring some school work with him, and we want him to keep a blog as well.

What do you do? I have one more week on call before I am done until after the cruise! Hopefully when I get back from the cruise I will be able to move back to my old job and not be on call anymore!! That would totally make my day!

Some of the transfers came through with fees. Largest was $2.59, smallest was $0.70. Total is less than $10, so at this point I am dealing with it.

Corrina, I too love your dress. I found one as well - 3 weeks to have it made, and they were having a huge sale, so...

LOL - sorry have to laugh at this as I think our furbabies were a bit like this. Gracie was such an instigator, and Chelsea just followed along. Gracie would run when she saw us, Chels would hop into the car...

:banana::banana::dance3::banana: WAHOO!!!!!! :banana::dance3::banana::banana:

Ii agree Noel, you seem to have a calling for this!

We are on the same flight as Walt and Di, we arrive at 8:55AM local time. We were going to take a van to the hotel, drop luggage and then get the 2 day HOHO tickets and jst do our own thing. however, I haven't been able to confirm that we can actually drop luggage, so...

Can't believe how quick time is moving now! So much to finish up, so little time.

Sue, I used a credit card and I think the fees were applied to me. If not, please let me know.

I usually find similar stuff at Macy's or JC Penney. However, not the JC Penney close to my house, I go to one that's in a more upscale mall - they seem to have better stuff.

:cutie:

Your Father sounds cool.:thumbsup2

He was a great Dad!! We lost him in 2005 to complications from his COPD.

When I was growing up, we never bought tv's, he built Heathkits. When one of us wanted new furniture, we would bring my dad a picture and he would build it. If my mother wanted a new chandelier, my dad made it. If a car wouldn't run, my dad would fix it. If an appliance broke, my dad fixed it. I still have their original 1954 Philco refrigerator and it still runs!!

I remember going to his retirement party and hearing these words, "When you ask Walter Johnson if it can be made and he says, yes, it can, it will be made. He can make something in one hour without plans that most men would take eight hours with plans."

John and I are going to his grave tomorrow to place flowers for Father's Day. We are going today to place flowers on my sisters grave as it is her birthday today. She would have been 54 today and lies next to my parents.

I am like you still trying to decide last minute details. No plans for Castaway Cay as we are there such a short time. Undecided about Tortola and St Maarten too. I think I know what we are doing in Gibraltar and Madeira.

I may just book a few things we might do and if things change, I will cancel them. How about everyone else?

Yes, still room as I have not got all complete details yet. Send me a PM and I will put your name and how many on the list. I am still waiting for another confirming email on details.

We're just hoping to book the land/sea excursion for Tortola (plus Palo of course)...in other places we shall make our own way around.:) It's all getting very exciting now!:woohoo:

You should bring your ball gown Mandy - unless the baggage allowance is a problem??

Yes, that was the main reason Marilyn :rolleyes1

He sounds amazing, sounds a bit like my Dad, I will be thinking about you tom:hug:, you must miss them all very much.

I saw on FB that TotallyAngelic Sarah hurt her hand today. Maybe that's why we haven't seen her weekly tradition of the Saturday countdown announcement. I've come to expect it from her!

Calling all Siver CC members who will be able to book tonight - Are you ready!!! I'm not!!!! I'm not sure what I want to do. :confused3 .....Although the private tour in Madeira being set up sounds like fun. Is there still room for 2 more? ...

I AM READY!!!
As for excursions, Gibraltar will likely be on my own. St. Maarten will be the Twelve Metre Regatta, and Tortola will be Tour of Virgin Gorda, which takes you to The Baths.

As for Madeira, I am very disappointed that Daniel's Taxis didn't provide an agenda with their price quote yesterday. I really wanted to compare that against Unforgettable West Madeira tour that DCL is offering. I've read rave reviews of that tour, which makes me think it will sell out. In hopes I could make an assumption, I even looked at their standard tours, none of which are 5.5 hours in length like what they told Noel. :sad2:

I looked at the cancellation policy on DCL excursions, and it says "All Port Adventure tickets are non-refundable". Does anyone know if there's more to that statement, like you have to cancel at least 48 hours in advance to not be charged? I assume if that were true, it would say that. So my question comes down to if anyone has ever booked it on-line, then canceled it before they cruised, were they charged or not???

The following people are still outstanding on cruise and/or tasting shirt payments....I know that many people are not on the boards all that often...

Thank you again for the labor-intensive work that goes into organizing this. It really truly is appreciated!!! I put a post out on our FB Page to hopefully grab the attention of some as well.

What a wonderful man, Noel! It's clear he had a grand impression on everyone he ever encountered! It's so sweet of you to share your memory of him and your sister with us!

Thank you so much for your sweet words about my sister and father.

As far as the tour goes, I have asked for a custom tour. When they emailed me last time, they apologized for taking so long but explained they were having a very busy season so perhaps that is why they are still taking their time getting back to me.

I have booked tours on DCL online before and canceled and re-booked others. Mind you the last time I did this was 2008 so things may have changed. If they have, would someone please post? I plan to book some DCL excursions but want to be able to cancel if other DISers come up with better options!!
