I love family history ... I have traced some of my family back to the early 1800s and we had one couple who went to Australia about that time, had a couple of kids out there and returned back to the UK eventually. The ship they sailed on was wrecked on it's next voyage, so they were lucky really. More recently in the mid 1900s a few relatives emigrated to USA ( Ohio ) and to Australia and we now have more relatives in Australia than in the UK.

I too am fascinated by history. We named our daughter Samantha Mary. It later turned out that John has a great-great-great grandmother named Samantha Mary who married three times. Her first husband died young, married again and divorced second husband in 1865, then married her childhood sweetheart the day before her daughter Mary's wedding. She then moved from Ohio to Wisconsin and as far as we can tell, never saw her children or the rest of her family again.

Some of my great grandfather's family went to New Zealand in the middle of the 1800's. We still have lots of family there.

It is amazing how many of my grandfather's immediate family are still in the UK. Only he and his brother Richard came to the USA before WWI. Both remained UK citizens until their deaths. Richard married but never had any children. Of course there are other second cousins from various other collateral family member etc. but the ones we know best are from my Grandfather's sister Grace's family.

Did they become citizens of the US? My grandmother had to be renaturalized in 1920 when they married as that was during the time if you married a non citizen, you lost your American citizenship.

Just curious as my Grandfather was a loyal Brit until the day he died. He also had a very dry wit. I remember the headline of the Waterlooville newspaper on his visit when he was in his 90's to his 90+ sister who he hadn't seen in 50 years. The first thing he said to her was, "Long time no see".

I am not sure to be honest .... I haven't really researched the American side of the family too much as of yet. Love the comment your Grandfather made ... he certainly did have a sense of humour. :rotfl:

He really did!! I was very close to he and my grandmother as both of my parents worked and they were my primary caregivers as well as their first grandchild.

I don't know if you are old enough to remember Leo G. Carroll but he resembled him though without the glasses.

My sister and I are identical, but when we were first born, my parent's thought we were fraternal. We had the DNA test done as part of a study when we were at Twin's Days in Twinsburg, OH a few years ago and we are indeed 99.9% identical.

My grandfather never could tell us apart either...my dance teacher who has known us for 27 years can't tell us apart - they just call us Twin! LOL! Even though we fight, she really is my best friend and I can't imagine not having her around.

Our daughter Carolyn said mostly people either can or can't tell twins apart. Just one of those things. You can learn if there are slight differences though. One of the twins brothers always knew which was which, but the other just had no idea for about 6 years!!! Carolyn despairs with me!:lmao: We went to WDW last year, and the girls had their hair cut slightly different, Amy(shorter name) slightly shorter bob with a fringe(bang), and the other Charlottle(longer name) longer without a fringe. Once the wind blew the hair just looked the same!!! I try to learn who is wearing what. Works for one day anyway.;)

It must be very strange looking at someone who is just like you. Probably now though you have forgotten that feeling.

Hello all Disney Cruisers, I am finally signing on. WE are down to the TWO digits and can start getting my mind ready.. DH has been pushing me to get ready but sometimes I am slow. DH and I are renewing our vows while out to see and DSIS has all the details aligned. YES for those of you who do not know she is the family organizer. My DD and her DH are comming as well. This is her graduation present from the family. Cannot wait to go and have the countdown in my head and heart. Hope to sign on a few times a week and get to know some of you for myself, DSis keeps me posted and updated. :cheer2:

Hi and welcome.

I have cousins (girls) that are identical twins - separate placenta but as they said, they have moles in the same spots. They are very alike, one of them also had identical twin boys on the same birthday - it actually made headlines in the papers in the UK (about 18 years ago). My cousin that doesn't have the twin boys has a son only a few months difference, and people think the boys are triplets. My cousins kids actually have trouble telling their Mum from their Aunt and no one can tell the boys apart - even their parents struggle with it.

I knew someone who had identical triplet boys and they always had badges with their names on - I think for their parent's benefit too!!! Boy, they were hard work. Carolyn belonged to a twin club before they were born and general consensus there was that 2 girls was the ideal, one of each was not bad, but 2 boys could be a nightmare!!:rotfl2: We have 3 more granddaughters(cousins of the twins), and one of them looks a bit like the twins. When they were all together they almost could have been triplets.

Thats a lovely photo Marilyn and well done to your girls for doing the Race for Life in such a fast time .... I did it last week and they beat my time of 46 minutes :rotfl:

Thanks Sarah. I think you did fantastic. I would have taken a couple of hours I think!:rolleyes1 I believe our DIL and one of her daughters is doing it sometime too. They did it last year. This year they will no doubt be trying to beat Carolyn, Charlotte and Amy's time!!

Guys ..... you need to dump those crazy Facebook games and spend more time on here :woohoo::woohoo:[/QUOTE]

Hello all. Its been several MONTHS since I've been on the boards (I know that's horrible...), but we are in the middle of transitioning jobs and moving from WI to IN. I checked in here for a minute to see what was new, and see a lot of posts about the FE groups and possibly removing people from them... I'm worried I might be one of the non-responders. I signed up a long time ago and gave my room number, but don't remember hearing anything since... Should I have? How do I know if I'm confirmed?

Thanks!

Hiya'

FE groups are listed on page 1 and pm Su_kraft about them as she's the FE guru!

Glad she's keeping you up to date!

I am certain you could sign in daily and post, but that would mean a little less farmville, cafe world and every other game you place on facebook:rotfl2:

Oh and so folks are clear, this is my Dsis! Shame her into coming here more often and being part of this group!;)

Don't dis the facebook games lol! Hotel World is now my fave!

Hey all...a little info needed....we will be flying out of JFK on Friday evening before the cruise....will have 2 checked bags and 2 carry ons....how is luggage handled when we reach Barcelona....do we get the checked luggage or does Disney handle that like in Orlando....since we probably have to go through customs in Barcelona I would imagine we need to retrieve the luggage.....what do you guys think?
Tom

I believe because you need to go through customs you pick it up yourself but hopefully some of our med cruisers may know for sure??

Also, for the Scrapbook FE list I have:

Buckeye Gal
1DisneyQueen
Bareacuda
MagicMe
Hoagie Pie

I love it, will keep the list and post something a little later. I think DCL is having a scrapbook class too. I don't know how great it is, but I thought it would be fun to give a little "DCL" to each other for a fun memory that we can use in our scrapbooks. If anybody else wants to be added, just PM me or tell me here!!

Have a great Monday!! Thanks Ann for the beautiful pictures of the Magic in Dover!

I would take part but I'm rubbish at doing scrapbook pages!

There might be a few (cough) (cough) more Farmville addicts too dare I say it :lmao:

LOL

My name is Sarah and I am a FarmVille/Cafe World/Hotel World addict. I am also a recovering Mall World addict - don't like the new wait times for clothes!

I know there has been talk on this before and somebody posted the link last week (maybe steffy?), Anyhoo, who has actually used it and is it any good?
The only other time we have travelled so far was Paris last year and we travelled business class with no kids, this trip it is cattle (economy) class with the kids, the flight including stops will be over 34 hours!!! :scared1::scared1::scared1:
My DH is 6 foot and about 100kgs / 220 pounds. Just wanted to know if the 1st class sleeper will make it a little more bearable for him? :confused3 TIA

At the moment I am trying to buy a computer .... am torn between MAC and PC, but I could only stretch to the cheap end of the MAC scale .... the 21" monitor one. I could get a much higher spec PC with a 24" monitor for £200 less .... so I am not sure.
There seem to be a lot of MAC users on here ... so can you tell me why should I buy a MAC over a PC when the PC would be a lot higher spec.
Thanks :thumbsup2

I would go with a PC just because once you switch you will need to stay with it and I always think there's more choise with a PC. Also as you said you can get a higher spec pc for less money, and personally I would think the spec a lot more important than the Mac aspect. This is just my opinion though as I know a lot of people love Macs!

I have always had PC's......until one day my DH came home with a MAC Air laptop for me, I was not impressed and couldn't work out how to use the silly thing. So after a little help from my friends I worked it out and I LOVE IT!!! DH and the girls have PC's and I can't stand it when I have to do something on their computers. The Mac is faster, easier to use, doesn't have those annoying messages all the time and doesn't get viruses like PC's. I just love mine and will never go back!
Someone who is technically minded will tell you all the important stuff that I don't understand, all I know is I love it! :goodvibes

Well it is still cool here - make that cold actually!:confused3 I really don't know what has happened to the British summer these days. Ah well roll on September. We went off to Florida in early February for 6 weeks to get a little warm weather but it didn't materialise there either, so I feel a little starved right now.:lmao:

If anyone out there is sweltering in excessive heat, please share with us frozen Brits.
