Oh but of course! Although...I was thinking you might just have the advantage that once you are in Europe it will be relatively easy for you to rail across to Barcelona if worse happens! We will be scrabbling to catch up with you somewhere along the way lol!

Nah.:snooty:
Its so NOT going to happen. Lets be positive that every one of us gets all the right planes at the right time and all our plans go forward as planned!.

Now on the count of 3............all BLOW! Blow the ash cloud where it needs to be blown ;)

I was just asking Len if we couldnt nuke it or something, he gave me a "look" so I guess not.

We went to the cheesecake factory in san fran, oh how I loved san fran.

Since DD works there, we have eaten at the Cheesecake Factory many times. My favorite dish is the Thai lettuce wraps!!

Just printed out my boarding pass for my JetBlue flight to LA tomorrow. I have to meet a family member but will be there until Wednesday afternoon if anyone in the area is around for a quick meet!!

Just my thoughts....

Very interesting map...thank you for posting it!

Yesterday morning I got reallye excited for the cruise! Not sure why it hit me yesterday, but it sure did!

Maybe because it was exactly 4 months until we fly over to Barcelona which effectively means are vacation begins at that point!!!

wow .... they look delicious !!! We ate at the Cheesecake Factory in Disney Quest once .... I had a gorgeous mushroom toastie thingy. Problem was it was too filling and I didn't have any room for cheesecake so it sort of defeated the object really. :confused3:confused3

If you look at the ash concentration it is pretty telling. http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/volcanic?LANG=en&CLOUD=1

They close airports in the black/gray area.

YUCK!

If I'm reading the map right, if we are flying directly to BCN from Newark, we shouldn't have any issues. It looks like the areas affected are to the north, right? I hope it all blows over soon!

Just trying to figure out our FE gifts- are more people doing 1 gift per cabin or per person? Or does it matter? I'm not very creative but I love to think I am  Since we only have 120 days until we leave, I have to get on the ball. I have to stop reading the home made FE gift thread. It gives me too many ideas that I know I can't do!

As far as the ash cloud goes, by the time September comes, it no doubt will be in a different place altogether!!! It depends on such a lot of things, including the wind direction.

With FE gifts, I think you can give how you want, per cabin or per person!!! The thing is to make it enjoyable whatever.:)

That's what I was going to say! :goodvibes

Maybe but I didn't even remember the date when I got all excited! LOL! It wasn't until you text messaged me last night that I remembered...I was working at the store doing a floor move! It was fun...hot but fun! The a/c turns off once the store closes so it was boiling hot in the store last night.

For those of you who live where the ash cloud is, do you notice it on a day-day basis or is it that it is in the atmosphere for the most part? Just wondering!

We are on a direct ATL to BCN with Delta. 1 checked bag per person up to 50 lbs. 1 carry on that meets size restrictions and one personal item per person.

I was very grateful to get a direct flight as we dnot have to worry about other carriers. :)

oh that is great! we r flying delta too and get 2 bags per person - which I am thankful for as we are taking gifts to my family in Austria, then we will put that one away into one of the other suitcases for our KLM flight to Barcelona as hubby and I only get one extra bag (not the kids like on delta) and then when we fly home from Orlando everybody gets 2 bags again for all our stuff we collected on the trip :)

I am watching the cloud a well... have you seen this site: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/volcanic?LANG=en&ART=0&BASE=201005170600

I have a co worker that is going to France on Friday and he stated that most of the closures are at night... Not sure that makes wme feel any better as we are flying overnight...

I also read on the boards that others had the same issue and were able to join the cruise at a later port.

Goes without saying travel insurance is a good idea as this volcano only erupts every once in a while and then erupts for 2 - 3 years...

Only thing is that you had to have your travel insurance in place before April 13 I think for them to cover it BUT it seems the airlines in Europe operate differently than the US carriers when it comes to cancellations. We are on Delta (US carrier) to Munich - but after our stay in Austria we are on KLM (European carrier) so I am hoping we will be able to get help if we have trouble. We have trip insurance but bought it after the date.

As for FE gifts - I have the cabin gift almost done and ready to order but I want to do some things for the kids when I find out ages and how many! I am axious for the deadline to get here so I can find out all my details!

DH and I split the entrée. If we don't have room for cheesecake, we take a slice home.

Not going anywhere without Bob (and You)

Maybe if we all faced West while on the boat and blow as strong as possible would that slow the rotation of the earth down causing the cruise to be extended.:rolleyes1

I found this website for anyone thinking about contingency plans for travelling to Barcelona from the UK.

http://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm#Barcelona

Thanks Sarah, I may just need it! I hope not, but better to be prepared!

Hi all

Just poping in for a moment to tell you all we're still on for the cruise. Waiting out til the end of the week to pay in full as the exchange rate dropped to 1.39 today!!! Hoping to get 1.4! Nans funeral is on Thursday pm and my exams are on Wednesday and Thursday am so hopefully will get a chance to catch up later on in the week. Things here are up and down as to be expected but thanks to everyone for the kind words.

Hi Sarah, Glad your still with us, Looks like you got a mental and emotional draining week ahead of you, We'll be thinking of you. :grouphug:

Thanks Sue, Great, we are flying during the night too! We do have travel insurance that I booked and paid for when we booked the cruise, So we should be fine......I hope!

Our "contingency" plan is the fact that we're booking our airfare through DCL, so I'm thinking they will help us get to where we need to be as soon as possible  If that doesn't happen we have travel insurance that will cover a missed flight/cruise.

The change of clothes in the carry on is a good idea, since, at this time, we don't know if we are flying direct or connecting. However, I'm pretty sure that a connecting flight it REAL possible since it's from California (that's a long way for a direct flight);)

:cutie:

I don't think DCL does airfares from Australia, Not sure? I don't remember seeing it as an option but I may be wrong? :confused3
Anyway, we are already all booked with the airline that we a gold members with, so they usually look after us, we also have insurance. Just keeping my fingers crossed! :thumbsup2

Good idea!! :thumbsup2 I wonder if it would work if EVERYONE in UK went out at the same time and blew! Add a few fans and it just might move that ash on its way!! :rotfl: DD used to ask if everyone in the whole world started walking in the same direction at the same time would it make the earth move faster???

I love the way your DD's mind works, that is actually very thoughtful of her!
It's like when my cousin was looking at black and white photos'a at age 5, he asked when the world turned into colours! So precious!:lovestruc

For FE's I am doing 1 gift per cabin with multiple things in it that can be shared out as you wish, and a separate gift for each child. Again, I agree though, whatever you want. I also love checking out the FE thread, people are so creative! :thumbsup2
