Well I had my hospital appointment to get my MRI results today. Good news is nothing nasty which is what I anticipated, but they want to take the gallbladder out as there is some inflammation and tiny gallstones. It is the tiny gallstones that are the problem passing down the bile duct and going into the pancreatic one causing the nasty acute pancreatitis. They don't want me to have another attack, and I sure don't. Apart from being one of the most painful things, it can be fatal.:scared1:

So, that should be done in the next 2-3 weeks, by keyhole surgery hopefully, so no big deal, and I should(barring complications) be absolutely fine for this vacation.:banana: I have to continue with my low fat diet till then.

Just need to make sure of the cancellation policy and dates just in case as I can't get insurance till it is all over, and these dates are fast approaching!

I can start looking forward again and planning!!!
Great news. I had my gallbladder out in 2006 and only missed 2 weeks of work. It was the easiest surgery I have ever had. I can remember waking up in the recovery room and telling the nurcse first thing that I felt so much better. She looked at me like I was crazy and I said I had pain from the surgery, but all the other misery was gone. I was amazed at how much better I felt right away.

GMTA. You said it perfectly!! Just my thoughts...

Here is an EB TA picture link from another thread:

OK, they're all there. Click on my link, on left side click on DCL EBTA 2010 album. We went to Madeira first, Cadiz 2nd, Gibralter 3rd and Barcelona last. There are lots of scenic pics of the cities. Nothing in particular, just landscapes. The cities are all separated by stuff from the ship, like towel animals, food porn, etc. Going to work, talk to you later. Enjoy!

We have always had good luck getting enough of the DCL shampoo and soap/body wash...and we plan on using it on this cruise, too. Jason has always used it because he has no hair really....but I wear my hair longer and so I usually have to bring all my hair product with me (shampoo, conditioner, straightening lotion, flat iron, blow dryer (cuz the one the bathroom SUX! :lmao:), styling product, etc.). My hair junk always takes up a ton of extra space and weight in our bags. Anyhow....we're both using the DCL shampoo products for this trip, I think because I made the decision that I'm cutting all my hair off on Sept. 1st!! :scared1::scared1: (we fly out to Orlando from home on Sept. 2nd to stay at WDW for 4 days before flying to BCN for our Med cruise and then this TA).

Hope I recognize you!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

We're planning on 10/3 too!!! :banana:

As operations go, I must say it really didn't feel like one. Didn't have hardly any pain and the recovery was very quick. Scar faded really quickly.

It is amazing how far some procedures have come. Not that long ago it was a major operation. My mother was very very poorly when she had hers.

Oh Lynn shall I be mean and put it in the Navigator lol?

Do it!! :lmao::rotfl:
Im panicing about packing too - and being told that Im nuts by Dan lol!

I have never received extra shampoo etc on any of my cruises apart from our B2B on changeover day. Even then I hid the part used as I expected I wouldn't get any new if the part used tubes were still out!!

However I saw our neighbour on our PC cruise asking our room host for more conditioner which she got no problem.

Just ask. Those stateroom stewards are SO nice. :goodvibes Anything you want, well, within reason of course!

on the 11 night cruise as I had a room on my own I asked for extra shampoo etc and ended up taking home almost 10kg of weight from just toiletries. Everyone got them for Christmas lol!

Our local Ronald McDonald House appreciates them. Sometimes families have to stay over unexpectedly and need something for the night. Or, my SIL used to travel for work alot and took her own but brought the hotel stuff back for the local food bank. They appreciated it also.

YAY!!!! :dance3::woohoo:

....thanks for everyone who's concerned about my hair :lmao:

Honestly I don't mind the idea of cutting it off at all....My hair has long been one of the ways I express myself and so it's not unheard of for me to make dramatic changes----in length, style, color----on a whim. As a 35 year old man I have the good fortune in my genes to have a very full head of hair that grows in very quickly....so it will probably be a nice "hair vacation" to have shorter low maintenance hair for our long vacation extravaganza this fall (and I'll be able to sleep in a bit later since I won't have to get up and deal with it every day! :thumbsup2)...and if I decide I hate it then I'll let it grow back and it'll likely be pretty long again my next cruise just after Easter of 2011!!! (B2B cruises doing the repo from LA to Vancouver and the 1st Alaskan itinerary)
WELL< ok, but I like your hair!

Thats so true Maz. My Mum has hers done 30 years ago and it was a major operation.....she felt amazingly better afterward though, I remember! It's obviously quite a common thing now...

Since Angie is offline, I thought I might answer for her. Ronald McDonald Houses around the world offer families a way to stay together, in proximity to the treatment hospital, and be comfortable and cared for during their stay.

Here is their link in case you might want to read more about them.

I had this surgery by laparoscopy several years ago. The recovery time was very quick. I was in at 8AM and going home by 4PM. I was told not to travel for a week and after that and my checkup, no restrictions.

You will be back in no time obsessing and planning with the rest of us DISers.

This is great news! I, too, have had the surgery and have to agree that it was easy, as surgeries go, and was happy to be rid of the pain. Good luck! You're going to feel much better!!! :cool1::cool1:

We're planning on 10/3 too!!! :banana:

I read the tix will go on sale tomorrow via phone and on the website a couple of weeks later. :cool1::cool1:
