I think it would be nice to learn all 3 languages but I am concentrating on updating my California Spanish to Castillian Spanish.

English Spanish (Castillian) Basque Galician Catalan

My fear is that we learn all these helpful phrases, then get a response in Spanish, Catalan, or whatever the native language, then what???
For instance...how much is this and then they tell us...:confused3 This could be a comedy routine with us. :lmao:

Since all the kids have left home, we only use the computers in three bedroom. We actually have three notebook computers in bedroom but only use two and one desktop. In garage, we have original IBM PC, TRS 80 and original Mac that we have saved for posterity. DH also serves at IT guy at his company and we get to try all kinds of new stuff. He has made each one of our GK's build a computer and load the software to appreciate how a computer works. We are wireless throughout the house so it doesn't matter how many computers we have, they seem to all run at the same speed.

We even have a Timex in our bunch of junk Dennis has kept. That was a little "computer" that you attached to the TV and ran with a tape recorder. :upsidedow

Oh I'm liking these. So far we're at 24 pages so think another 2 wont hurt lol
:scared1: 24 pages, you must have been a busy girl, Thanks heaps, It will be a great help for us especially!

Don't worry Dan is the same! I tell him "our" plans and he says that's nice dear. On the 16th he might actually get excited!

Occassionally (well like yesterday) I do get some response but only because I said "shall we not bother with the rasul thingy and do the massage instead". He seems to prefer the Rasul so I guess Ill be booking this next week

At least we get to do what WE want and they will just have to be happy if they don't give us any input! :rotfl:

Unfortunately my wife and I will have to cancel this cruise due to her Mom becoming sick and not able to watch our children while we cruise. We were so looking forward to this, but her Mom's health is far more important. Not really sure how this works but I will call DVC and see how the points get refunded. Hope you all have the best cruise ever!! I will pm Eric with our cancellation so no lanyard needed.

HAVE FUN!!!
I'm sorry, I hope your DMIL recovers soon. There will be plenty more cruises!

You have complete control to add yourself!

  • Click on this link to Google Maps.
  • Zoom in to your location on the map.
  • Click the [Edit] button in the direction of the upper left corner of your screen and right beside the map. This will pop up some iconic buttons on the upper left corner of the map.
  • Click on the "Placemark" button that looks like a blue balloon. This is located on the top of the map itself.
  • Click on the location on the map where you are located, which will put the Placemark on the map.
  • In the "Title" Field, put your DIS name.
  • Feel free to add your real names or whatever comes to mind in the Description Field.
  • Click [OK] to save what you typed, and you're finished!

Just an extra note for the Dumbo's like me, You have to be logged in to an account to add your placemark. It took me ages of reading the help section to work this simple bit of info out, Duh! :confused3

OK - according to QLock (which I use for work) it is 1:52pm Monday here and 3:52am on Tuesday in Sydney.

So, at 8pm Atlanta time it would be 10am Sydney? Did I do that right? So, lunch time for you is rght after Stephen is in bed... Yes?

maybe there is hope!!

Sue

OK, I don't work so I'm home at least a couple of days a week, going out to lunch with the girls today though, ;). Will keep my Skype on whenever I'm home :thumbsup2

We should hold a class for all the non-planner husbands in the terminal. Divide the class up and several of us can teach sections, 3 mins or less per section and lots of pictures or they will lose interest;

Dis Meets
Ports
Meals
Sea Day Activities
Drink Tastings
Special guests
MISC.
:teacher:

or perhaps a powerpoint presentation that they could play on the plane(s), lol.

Pj

Do we want to let them in on all the info, then they may actually have some input on our plans. I'd rather make all the decisions myself!

Okay , I have to point this out cause you will hear alot when in Gibraltar....They are not monkeys , they are apes ....No tails .... Tails = Monkeys - No tails = apes ... lol Just thought I would point that out
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

pirate:

Thanks for that, I was a little confused :thumbsup2

Wow! Gone for a day & come back to 12 new pages:eek: Spent the day with Hoagie Pie and GD at the Wild Animal Park. We had a great time. Since it was a hot day we enjoyed getting drenched on the Kali River Rapids. GD went on Expedition Everest twice - her first time by herself. My clothes were still wet when we got home.:goodvibes

Hope everyone has a good week.:dance3:

Wish it were warm here. Temps are in the 60's and we may have rain the rest of the week. Not normal for northern California this time of year. I haven't made any plans to go to the Lake house yet as too darn cold!!

Just my thoughts....

I am sorry to hear that I hope your MIL recovers quickly.

I looked on the US State Department website. It appears they recommend having a copy on your person and keeping the original in a secure place. :confused3

We always carry a color photocopy when we are in ports.

Well, we used to have two computers in the den, but one got moved. Now we have one in the den, one in DS1 room, one in DS2 room, one in master bedroom, one in living room, DS1 has laptop (usually in his room or living room) and I have a laptop (usually in living room). DH is a computer tech, can you tell? He started expanding our computer system back when computers were starting to be able to talk to each other and he needed to know how to do that for work. I think it's a little out of hand. :surfweb::surfweb::surfweb:

However, I'm the one doing the magnets. :rolleyes1

:cutie:

OK, Glenn and I both work for software companies... there are 3 active laptops, 2 that are on the fritz (one needs a battery, one has a wonky hard drive). There is a desktop in the living room and a few servers in the basement.

I have picked the magnets, but I am hoping th make, I mean, convince Glenn to print them...

My "wonky" computer is my 2003 Vaio which my husband had to hardwire the plug into the connector. Needless to say, I do not travel with this computer as I am convinced they will think I am some kind of terrorist. Sony makes the WORST connectors!!

Well I'm so glad you mentioned that because this Dumbo didn't even think about that! I must be permanently logged in. Thanks for mentioning this very important step. I've gone back and updated the two posts that have the instructions so we can make it easier on someone out there! ;)

Don't worry, I'm only a little offended! Just kidding. My wife and I have been planning together. We're both super excited and can't wait...

I try like heck to never use the HOTlanta statement. This past weekend was just so miserable... Although I have to admit that I am not sure what Billy Payne said to the Olympic committe about the heat in July... Cause if this weekend was an idicator we are in for a scorcher...

If the Google Map is right, you are in the Roswell area - yes? If so, then you were in the muggy heat with us... When are yoiu flying out?

We're over in the Doraville/Tucker area. Yes, it was hot and we even spent most of the weekend outside. My company had a big block party on Saturday and then we went to the Renaissance Festival on Sunday. I was worn out Sunday night and went to bed extra early...

Oh, and we're flying out on Wed 9/15, ATL-BCN.

Alex

Are you on the 5:55 flight? If so, Walt and Di are on the first leg from TX. We are in 15 and 16 A&B, Walt and Di are behind us. We can start the DIS meet early!!

Sue

See Alex, you could provide valuable input, as you are planner husband. What do husbands really want to know, at least when they are ready to know, lol.

So Grandma and I were talking in her bedroom with her toy poodle, Sandy, laying on the bed. She says to me "There's a good chance I'm going to get another D-O-G." Yes. She spelled out "dog" so Sandy wouldn't know! :lmao: It was all I could do to not laugh hysterically, but somehow I did! (I love what Paula said in response on my FB page, which was that her german shepherd learned how to spell because they spelled in front of her so often!!! :rotfl:)

Welcome back to the Dis and I just loved your story about your grandma's dog :rotfl:

Hello people

Not sure how many remember me - I'm Laura AKA eeyorelvr10. Seems Steve and I will be going on this cruise as final payment was finally made. I feel like I've been off DIS for years. Been on another site and avoided this one. Forgot how slow it can get. But at least I'm here and hoping to see some familiar faces on the cruise. I will be playing catch soon as DD gets out of school on June 3 and I will finally have some play time.

Anythign I've missed and need to sign up for? :rolleyes1 Or is it all too late?

Take care and talk soon

Welcome back Laura - what took ya so long? :rotfl2:

In one week from right now, I'll be in New York City seeing "Glee" in concert! I can't wait!!! I love that show!!! My sister and I are going up for the day so it should be exciting. I haven't been to NYC for over a year and a half so it will be nice. They are playing at Radio City Music Hall so I'm excited to go there again. It should be fun!

I hope everyone is having a great day! :)

I've only recently found Glee and have watch all episodes in the last two weeks. I'd love to see the in concert - please come back and tell us all about it!

Depending on the type of gift you are giving, it will either 1 per cabin, 1 per person, or maybe even 1 per disname. Some of us are doing an individual gift per person. Some have put together a "family" type gift with several things that will be shared by the gift receivers. Your call, not "right" or "wrong".

:cutie:

And some of us will fight tooth and nail for the goodies left in our FE :rotfl2:

Ohio's state tree is the buckeye tree. It has leaves that frankly look similiar to special leaves some countries allow you to legally smoke :scared1: and poisonous nuts called buckeyes. The nut is inside of the balls you see hanging from this tree.

IMGP0307.jpg

We call them conkers here too - they have them in a lot of the bit parks :)

I know disney tells you that you only need to have your Key to the World and "photo ID" which most people from the US take their DL - but when we go off the ship (even on closed loop cruises) we take our passports with us (copies remain on board of the ship) because if something would happen to us, accident, get arrested for doing something we did not know was wrong (has happened - not to us) miss the boat, or anything that you might need your passport to prove who you are and get back to the states by plane if need be.

Are we the only ones who think this way? I just don't want to get caught in a strange country with no citizenship "papers" so to speak to prove where I belong.

Any thoughts?

Real thing on the ship - they have relieved us of our passports during past cruises anyway and copies to take with us. I figure we are more likely to get mugged or robbed than in trouble with the authorities.

We are trying to watch our $ and were wondering if anyone has advice as to which ports (other than CC) can be done on our own cheaper than through DCL. I am a little nervous about "missing the boat". If anyone has done some of these stops on their own and loved what they did I would love to hear about it.

We are doing all ports independently - we just also aim to be back to the ship well before sail time - we usually try to be one of the first groups off too.

I glad that you are feeling better.

It been one month since I got hit by the elevator doors and I'm still in pain, under weight restrictions, activity restrictions and highly medicated. Thank god for insurance. One pill I'm on cost $4.75 per pill and I take it twice a day. I have to go to physical therapy 3 time a week and the doctor once a week. They are not sure what wrong with my left arm yet. I have to go to the doctor again on Wednesday.

Only 17 weeks till cruise and I'm PIF

Sorry to hear you are still in pain :sad2: but pleased to hear you are PIF!

Figured I'd jump back on the thread. I've been staying away because I was not sure we'd make the cruise. As it stands, I did PIF, but am still not entirely sure we'll make it. Reminiscent of the 2007 WBTA, my son is on the verge of not sailing with me. On that cruise, I ended up taking my mom with me. I've got until June 20 before cancellation penalties kick in so we'll see what happens in the next few weeks. The Captain has informed me that my presence is required, so I hope I don't have to walk the plank.

Can't go against the Captain's orders! Welcome back Monica :)

I fear we are going to end up sounding like Manuel from Fawlty Towers - Que?

Well, planning for this trip is certainly challenging if nothing else! We now have had our second cancelled flights from UK to Barcelona. BMi Baby pulled out of the Birmingham to Barcelona route, so we had to rebook and now Spanair have pulled before they even started. Without telling me or even refunding. Am at work all week till Friday so will have to wait tos ort it :headache::mad:
We now have a big inconvenience as looks like we have to fly from further afield...with all the issues of a one way travel etc. ..hey ho!

That coach idea is looking very attractive!.....will you do door to door pick up? :lmao:

Lyn

I'm sure it was easy to overlook as you probably are permanently signed it, you can choose that as an option when you create an account. :thumbsup2

Oh, That sound very stressful! We are flying our last leg from Heathrow to Barcelona with BA, I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't strike! And we all have to keep that nasty ash cloud in mind too.........The coach is looking better and better, well for you.....I don't think it will pick up from Australia! :lmao:

OK I should add that I had already actually entered something like this into the navigator from the DCL website so we will have some basic ones onhand while onboard

You have a very good point about the men lol!

I have to admit last night I finally convinced Dan to look at the old Passporter book I had. For some unknown reason he was under the impression you paid $15 for Palo plus the price of the food! Spent about an hour explaining it to him and now my head hurts. He now isn't sure about doing Palo or not! Men!
