Well, we made a decision last night that we didn't want to have to do, but we have to face reality. We can't do this cruise. Money has gotten tight. My work is down to just about nothing so I am basically unemployed and being self employed, not able to collect unemployment. We just bought a vacation home in Florida and hopefully that will start generating some income, but with the construction industry being what it is here in CA, we don't see my business picking up anytime soon. My DH had to use some of his vacation to help get the Florida house up and running so vacation time for him is tight too.

It's been nice meeting a few of you and chatting with many. I am always in awe of how helpful and friendly everyone on the DisBoards seems to be and this Thread is no different. Our ships will pass again I am sure.

So sorry to hear that you won't be able to join us Linda. Take care and I hope things improve for you soon. The Florida home sounds like a great investment, so hopefully that will help sort things out for you. Maybe we will meet up on another cruise in the future

My concern now is gathering enough spending money to cover the shipboard expenses/excursions. I can do this trip super lean if I need to, but I prefer to be a little less tight-fisted when I travel.

I know what you mean ... I will be pulling my belt in during the spring to save up for spending money for this cruise and to do something with the kids in July .... home life will become very boring!

Definitely ... we never particularly wanted a cat but one of our neighbour's cats has taken it upon herself to move in here ..... and we don't really get much choice in the matter. Mind you it's a good way to have a pet .... we get all the affection and no vets bills or food bills as she always goes back home for meals Sorry to hear you have had some sad news Lynne ... it does put life into perspective. Sending hugs

Really enjoying everyone's stories ... I will post ours once I actually get 5 minutes. Off to do a 12 hour shift in a moment, meal out with emigrating friends tonight, Taryn's birthday tomorrow ... another meal out and a busy weekend ahead .... then a week off which I am really looking forward to

Ok... our story...

Howard and I met in a science class in high school, I think we were 15.His attention getting line was a slap on my rear with a ruler He was seeing one of my friends at the time Dumped her and rode stright towards me. He had a motorcycle at the time. Then he moved to Huntington Beach(CA), and we continuted to see each other only on weekends.
Dated for a while and married in 1970 have 3 grown kids and have 14 grandkids.
We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary on the cruise.

I am Trudy and this is my first cruise with Disney, in fact my very first cruise anywhere. I am very excited!! I am traveling with my DD Carolynn, my SIL Paul and 3 wonderful grandchildren Kai, Taryn and Alden. I am a little nervous about such a long cruise as my first so I am thinking of taking a small Disney Caribbean cruise just to get my sea legs.

I am 62 and mother to three terrific kids and nanna to nine of the best grandchildren anyone could have. I lost my husband three years ago and my family has been wonderfully supportive and loving.

I love to sing (with a Sweet Adeline chorus and in a quartet - I am a bodacious Bari), garden, swim, work out at Curves and swim.

Ok here is a quick version for us! Steve and I met on a Disney Cruise...yes, seriously!
We were friends for over a year before something "happened" and our friendship blossomed We have been together over 5 years and have two kids. Ryan is 4 and Liam is 3. We lived in Fl for almost 2 years and LOVED it, but Steve's job brought us back up to Michigan. We are hoping to move back to Florida as soon as we can....miss the mouse!
We have been on many cruises with DCL, renewed our vows on DCL, and went on the DVC member cruise in 2008. We are excited about our first 14nt sailing! My mom lives with us and helps with the boys. She is also cruising with us. Oh, and we have a dog named Koda Bear...he is a bichon frise and wishes he could cruise too! LOL!!!!

Our Story:
My name is Dan and I am a Disney addict. My parents took me every year throughout the 70’s and when I got to go for senior trip in 1986, I was our group’s unofficial tour guide. I am married to my beautiful wife Cheryl and we have son Daniel who is 6. We too love pets and have 3 cats (Eeyore, Goofy and Cinderella) and 1 Dog (Disney). Cheryl and I met when we were 15 through a mutual friend. She became part of my group of friends and we wound up throwing her a 16th birthday party. We started dating after high school, and we got engaged a couple years later. We drove to Florida from NJ for Cheryl’s first trip to Walt Disney World on a shoestring budget. When we were married 4 years later we honeymooned at the Wilderness lodge and I had her hooked too. From then on we’ve been going back every year. Our son has been there since he was 4 months old, but we believe he started out there as our little souvenir. On Oct 1st we will be celebrating our 15th anniversary on Castaway Cay!
Not sure what special event to book for that day but open for suggestions. I was thinking Palo for dinner, but not sure.

Gerald (49) and I (41, today actually) met at work in 1991 and got married in 1992. We have three beautiful children (14, 9 and 7) who will be staying home with Grandma and Grandpa while we are on this cruise! It will be strange not to have them with us. This is the first trip we've taken without the kids.

We are also Disney nuts. We've been DVC members since early 1998. All of our vacations involve either going to WDW or cruising on DCL.

Gerald is a software engineer and I work for the State of Minnesota.

We are looking forward to getting to know everyone. Just think, we leave 7 months from today!
