Resort decision fatigue

I have switched resorts three times since the announcement that BLT/ contemporary will have continued refurbishment, including the pool. This is during spring break in March. But might only do a two day park hopper. It is my new home resort. I would have preferred to have all amenities available of course. Might go to epic on our split day since we’re starting at BLT in 1 bdrm. Currently have BC but now there’s continued exterior work “that may block views.” Does that mean the balcony might be covered with plastic? Other resort I’m considering is Kidani in a SV 2bed but that’s also rolling the dice; might get a newly refurbished room with construction noise and water interruptions. Really want to stay at BLT the whole week and try out both the one and two bedroom.

You can use the CR pool which isn’t too far away from BLT. I know it’s not ideal but at least it’s something. Kidani’s pool is supposed to be open during the refurbishment and if they do the refurbishment in sections, hopefully you won’t be near the construction. I understand about BLT. It’s my home resort and I skipped it for Easter break because the pool will be closed.

Monorail resorts also allow easy access to more restaurants, dole whips at Poly, and nightly fireworks, even if it is raining. I think I’m leaning towards BLT again.

The 'may block views' likely refers to heavy equipment or construction walls blocking off parts of the view - in my experience if Disney is doing work that requires scaffolding or plastic covering of the actual balconies, they don't book those rooms. A few years ago when Boardwalk was going through its reno including some balcony and exterior work on the Crest O the Wave section, the rooms that were covered with scaffolding were not booked...and whole wings of the DVC building were shut down at a time while construction was occuring. They still warned of the work being done that might impact views from the other rooms not being worked on. That would be my guess.

I hope this is true, but I recall reading in the VGC thread that people were placed in those rooms and told not to go out on the balcony when they were covered with plastic/scaffolding. I also read several reviews on TripAdvisor where the same thing happened at Wilderness Lodge, with the scaffolding work that's been happening there. It's crazy to me that they wouldn't block off these rooms!

OP - I personally would look for a resort without the risk of having an active construction view, but it's hard with so many resorts being refurbished at the same time right now.

How many total nights will you be sleeping on WDW property?

You have BCV/BC as of now? It is one of my home resorts - going next month. It is definitely not known for it's views but it's location. Perhaps the hotel side has better views? Have you stayed here before? Now if it was when Stormalong Bay was closed, I would/might reconsider. As long as my balcony is not covered in plastic, I would be fine.

I have been and will be back. Just something to think about. Good luck and hope you enjoy your stay wherever it will be :)

I have a 3/3 split due to using two memberships.
Yes we’ve stayed at BCV twice and the pool is important. This is why I’m trading for the second half, in case the pool is an issue. It was maybe January of 2020 ( or 2021) when we were there last and there was similar exterior painting happening. I only saw one or two balconies being worked on, but recently it seems they are putting up much more scaffolding. Ive had walkway/tree views and it’s been lovely. I want access to the balcony. I’ve seen some people on YT with balconies covered with plastic being moved to a hotel room after complaining about it. That would be terrible, expecting a full kitchen and in room laundry.
ETA: people being moved at a different resort.

Currently I’m leaning towards prioritizing the villa over the pool because I’ll have one dd who doesn’t want to ‘park commando’. She would enjoy the monorail access more so we can easily visit poly for dole whip 😂 this will give me nice access to ride Guardians and watch MK fireworks as much as I want with my AP. My dh will prioritize golf but also 100% wants to swim afterwards.
Does anyone know if they move the lounge chairs over to the other pool if they close one of them?

We just did a double split-stay. We started in RIV, moved to BLT (because we could only get 2 nights mid-week), then moved back to RIV. Moving twice was not ideal, but IMHO it was totally worth it. We got the convenience of the Skyliner for DHS, Epcot and the boardwalk area, then the convenience of the Monorail and walking paths for MK and exploring the monorail resorts. Loved it, will do again. Not sure what you think will be different about the 1br and 2br in BLT that you want to check out other than the size of the room. BTW - we got a refurb 1BR at BLT and it was great.

My master plan started with wanting 50-100 more points at BLT and hoping the 1 & 2 bedroom would wow! We’re close to having dd2 in college and the 1 bedroom is 210 pts and I have 160 🤷🏼‍♀️ also we prefer to not have anyone sleeping in the LR if possible.
