Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Well I am really pleased to be able to tell you that Taryn my DD is now officially a WDW Disney Cast Member for next summer .... she has been accepted on the ICP and has a post in merchandising. She is thrilled and very excited ( I am very nervous .. the though of her travelling across the globe single handed is quite a scary one given her organisational skills deficit! )

On the downside .... this means no WBTA cruise for us in September :sad1: as we will be going to Orlando to visit Taryn and bring her back home. The dates are not the best as we were hoping to squeeze in a Dream cruise but because she doesn't finish the program until 2nd September, and DS will need to be back for college the first week in September.

I am thinking of doing a Med cruise in October as it is Tony's 50th birthday, but unfortunately it won't be with DCL :sad1:

Just checked in and so happy to hear Taryn was accepted in the ICP at WDW! You must be so proud of her (and happy to have it decided)!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Don't worry about her "organizational skills deficit," kids at that age have a way of rising to the occasion when they need to be independent and don't have mum & dad to fall back on--speaking from experience...

It's below freezing and windy here in Virginia and I'm already so weary of these short, dark days. Definitely need a beach!

Andrea

P.S. Sarah, voted for your street--hope you win!

WONDERFUL News!!! Congratulations to Taryn!!!

Oh - I voted for your street as well!!

Just popping in - in case anyone is curious as to what the captain was doing during that "long" cruise between St. Maarten and Tortola:

I managed catch this on the cruise info channel that morning:

I didn't get all of it - but you get the idea!

:cutie:

Just cruisin'. :goodvibes

We went to see Tangled yesterday. We loved it. Dennis has a new favorite princess! :lovestruc

Tonight we went to the Missoula Children's Theater and saw White Christmas. Not sure why it's the Children's Theater as the actors were not children. :rolleyes1:confused3 But, fun and they did a good job of the play.
I think they do actually put on plays with children there as well. I saw they have acting workshops for various ages.

Good morning Angie. Oh, I guess it is goodnight to you.

"The Flying Dutchman pirate ship, from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, is on display in the lagoon. As of the final week in November 2010, the Flying Dutchman had been removed and taken to another location in the island where it was being dismantled as pictures show below."

On the DIBB (one of the UK boards) they are saying that the black pearl may be on its way, hopefully someone will have some insider knowledge and let us know what Disney plans????:confused3

At least I own something money can't buy now - pictures of the flying Dutchman at Castaway Cay - never thought I'd say that.

Sarah & Elizabeth

I am really sorry to see the Dutchman go .. as a big fan of the movies it was a real thrill to see it in Castaway Cay. Hopefully they will replace it with another ship soon pirate:

11 Night Spain & Canary Islands Cruise starting from* 1,060.00 GBP

Sounds like a great cruise but I know he really really wants to go to Venice so as it is his birthday I am going to try and get an itinerary with Venice.

We've decided to do the 2012 transatlantic just waiting for prices.

Sarah & Elizabeth

We are thinking we might get that cruise!!

We would definitely be interested in that one too ....

We are aiming to book the 2012 WBTA too. Just love those extra hours!!!!;) We are working on building up our Virgin points to get the reward flight back.

We, too, are hoping that there is a WBTA in 2012; we booked the 2011 while on the 2010 cruise but knew it was probably going to be moved. We'll be coasting down the west side of the country during the 2011 WBTA.

As a former pilot, I though I would pass along this little snippet from the recent BA Flight Operations Department Notice for our dear British friends:

"*** British Airways Flight Operations Department Notice ***

There appears to be some confusion over the new pilot role titles. This notice will hopefully clear up any misunderstandings. The titles P1, P2, and Co-Pilot will now cease to have any meaning, within the BA operations manuals. They are to be replaced by:

Handling Pilot, Non-handling Pilot, Handling Landing Pilot, Non-Handling Landing Pilot, Handling Non-Landing Pilot, and Non Handling Non-Landing Pilot.

The Landing Pilot, is initially the Handling Pilot and will handle the take-off and landing except in role reversal when he is the Non-Handling Pilot for taxi until the Handling Non-Landing Pilot, hands the handling to the Landing Pilot at eighty knots. The Non-Landing (Non-Handling, since the Landing Pilot is handling) Pilot reads the checklist to the Handling Pilot until after Before Descent Checklist completion, when the Handling Landing Pilot hands the handling to the Non-Handling Non-Landing Pilot who then becomes the Handling Non-Landing Pilot.

The Landing Pilot is the Non-Handling Pilot until the "decision altitude" call, when the Handling Non-Landing Pilot hands the handling to the Non-Handling Landing Pilot, unless the latter calls "go-around", in which case the Handling Non-Landing Pilot, continues Handling and the Non-Handling Landing Pilot continues non-handling until the next call of "land" or "go-around", as appropriate.

In view of the recent confusion over these rules, it was deemed necessary to restate them clearly.

:confused3

We'll have to get together when you come out to fetch Taryn. Please give her our info for a "local" contact.

Thanks for this... Clear as... well... mud now... :lmao::rotfl:

One last thing - I have an interview for a new job on Tuesday. My company is closing the pilot plant where I work and about 80 people will be losing their jobs come January 7th. I'm lucky that I have a line on a new job. Probably a bit less money but at least I won't have to collect unemployment and then have to worry about finding something new in this economy. So wish me luck!

So I thought I would update everyone and let you know that the interviews on the 30th went well. I had to go back again this past Wednesday to interview with my potential boss's boss (he was on vacation the week I initially interviewed). Well it went well enough that they offered me the position! As noted, I will be making slightly less money and it's further away but I loved the atmosphere at the company and am excited for the new challenge. Thanks for all your well wishes - it worked!!!
