Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Sounds like you could've used Clinton Kelly and Tim Gunn on your shopping excursion!

Sorry you didn't have a gratifying retail therapy experience. :(

If they were paying and helping to shop I would gladly take the help. ;) Although I may give them a run for their money. As I always have trouble finding clothing.

I am very hard to shop for off of a store shelf. I can find things easier if I order online as they tend to carry more sizes but I need to try everything on as sizes vary so much from item to item. If it is ordered it leads to lots of returns. I need tall, plus size clothing. But sometimes stores "tall" clothing is still too short in the sleeves, leg length or shirt length. I basically need a custom swim suit as they are too short even the tall versions. I basically need a size 12 narrow or extra narrow shoe. I have friends that are taller then me (I'm 5'9") who have less issues with the lengths then I do.

I have said it more then once that I need to create a clothing, shoe and swimsuit line. I am sure there are others that have similar issues.

Vent ahead; you can skip it if you want.

Seriously why does shopping have to be such a pain??:confused3 It is so stressful as I can never find what I need or want. Then I end up buying stuff because I don't care and just want something that might work even though I totally dislike it. I don't think it would be quite so bad if I was within normal sizing charts but I am unfortunately not and it is just a royal pain. But even when I weighed about 50 pounds less I still struggled to find clothing. But even stuff that should be easy to locate was definitely not today.

Some of the reason for needing to shop now is due to my surgery I have incision sites at 5 different places/heights and things that fit before now pull and rub at places even though I weigh less then I did before the surgery.

Now to wash the stuff I got and then unto packing which I dislike as much or more.:headache::rolleyes1 While stuff is washing I am watching Lilo and Stitch and hoping my luggage packs itself.;)

I hope everyone's packing and planning is going well.

I know I am not in the same category but I did gain 15 pounds last year :( and most of it is on my hips. I had to buy a lot of new stuff but I still had issues of what I thought I looked good in.

That was my major stressing issues while packing over the issue. What shirts hid my hips and did not make me feel awe full. Then they had to match the limited amount of shorts I was bringing.

Normally Hubby is the tough one. He was easy since he lost 40 pounds he just needed new clothes and the more I found stains on the more I bought.

Guys have it so easy. There pants seems to fit if you know the waist and inseem. Where I know I can try on 20 pairs of pants and still not find the one for my body shape :(

So I get it. We want to feel comfortable and and look good problem that is hard to do sometimes.

Hubby looks at me like I have 2 heads. Like who cares if your clothes are not color co-ordinated:sad2::sad2:

I said I have never worn mismatched clothes and I do not intended to do it now. He has no concept of the last 2 years getting to know each one.

You are strangers to me.

Went to the old thread and saw it was closed. Too far behind to answer anyone so if anything important happened, will someone please PM me?

I thought we were done packing including our toiletries. However, John is still making door magnets. He weighed the magnetic paper in one of our suitcase and I have paid Air Berlin for the extra baggage. If he is wrong about he weight, he will just have to "wear" the magnets in his photography vest!!

By my calculations we are still ahead on air fare as the flight to Frankfurt is essentially free since it only cost $5.00 for the two of us though I wish I would not have had to ship a bag!!

All that is left after the magnet printing is get our mani/pedi's in the AM. Hopefully, that will relax both of us. We will have a late lunch and then proceed to the airport to hang out in the Red Carpet Club.

Bags are packed, in the hall and ready to put into the car in the morning. Here is a picture of our packed bags and Pal Mickey:

Safe travels Noel and John!!!

See you in Spain!!

Me! 5'9'' plus size as well. I end up ordering most of my clothes. (and returning most of those I order!)

Coldwater Creek has a few plus tall pants thru their catalog.

Their sleeve length seems a little more generous than most, but they are may be a little "old lady-ish" for you. ;) My kids seem to think they are!

I know what you mean about guys. My DH has been wearing the same brand pants for 5 or 6 years. Year after year, the same pants. The company doesn't change a thing.

You can't find that in women's clothing. If I find one pair of pants that fit, I'd better buy more than one because I will never find them again!

Honestly, I don't think that anyone is going to notice what we have on. And if they do, they will see the same things being worn over and over since our baggage allowance is so small!

quoted from valbob89......
I put all my clothes in plastic bags as I pack i.e. all my underwear in one, blouses in another etc. Then I put the bags into a plastic laundry basket as I go. It is easy to pickup the laundry basket and place it on the bathroom scale. I know how much my suitcase weights so I just add that. It is way easier for me to add and take out from the basket, I don't have to zip and unzip the luggage. Also, my bathroom scale is more accurate then the luggage scale I have.
That said, we leave early tomorrow morning and I am not finished packing, DH has barely started. Cat had to choose yesterday to get sick so spent afternoon at the vets (Bob told me he was just upset about seeing the suitcases). Still haven't made my MCC tees nor magnets. Did get my floors scrubbed and waxed. Sister asked me why I bothered when the cat would just mess up the house (he does). Explained I think it goes back to my mom's "always wear clean underwear in case your in an accident" worry - if I died on the trip I wouldn't want her talking bad about me when she saw my dirty house. Sick I know but then when we were robbed the first think I said was "he saw my dirty dishes". Sick. Val

I understand what you are saying,,,,Even tho hubby will be home and he can certainly take care of himself and the house, I will do some cleaning before I leave. The clean underwear reminded me of the story of hubby's first time at camp.

He was only 6 years old and his Grandmother thought it would be a good thing to send him to church camp. I won't go into details but it was not fun at all. He hated it. He tried to run away and they found him a mile down the road and brought him back. But the thing that is funny is that his mother had told him to be sure to put a clean pair of underwear on every day. (remember he is only 6 at the time) When he got home, his mother discovered he had 7 pairs of underwear on!!!!! He had not taken off any of the dirty underwear and changed them, he just kept piling on the pairs of them !!!!!!:lmao:

Those leaving today, have a safe trip, we look forward to meeting you. We have spent the time today packing. I'm 95 percent done, Teresa is still sorting. We don't leave until Friday. I tell you packing makes women ill!!!:lmao: so I'm sure I will be in the doghouse some this week.:rotfl: I don't know what we would have done if we were going to do formal nights. A tie for Palo was hard enough this time. We look forward to meeting up with those of you on the Atlanta to BCN flight on Friday. Hope you're not too close to the snoring section.

Barry and Teresa

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: so true rofl

What do I need to tell the taxi driver to get me to the port? Can I just say cruise terminal?? Or should I give an address?

Wow, I had a whole bunch of multi-quotes, but lost them in the change to part 10. Since I can't remember what all I wanted to say, bon voyage to all who are leaving and everyone who is sick please feel better soon.

Safe travels to everyone leaving!!! See you in a few days.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Well packing has been an epic failure. :headache::headache:

Even using the Travelpro I don't have enough room for some small things like shoes, toiletries, the little kids fe gifts, bras, t shirts, caftans, makeup, hair dryer.

So I must repack tomorrow using the Jeep. :guilty: It really won't match, but at this point, matching luggage is the very least of my worries. :rolleyes1 That piece of luggage is big, old and ugly, but boy can it carry a lot of gear. :cool2::cool2::cool2:

Two and one half days of work. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Part 10! Woo Hoo!

95 more hours until wheels up on our jet plane. :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm packing. :cool1::cool1:

OMG!!! :scared1: You'll be able to pick me out at the gate - I'll be the one with the terrified look on my face! Either that or I'll be asleep because of the Xanex! :lmao:

That is a great story! Thanks for the laugh!

Well, I worked today and got nothing done for the cruise - well, that's not exactly true - I bought the final part of my FE gifts as well as bags to put the candy in for the candy exchange - just have to buy the candy now! I haven't even started to pack yet...there's a pile, but nothing in the suitcases. I work again tomorrow night until midnight so not much packing is going to happen. Sigh...however I will get some things done - I have to have a 2 hour fasting blood test, so I'll be working on my FE gifts during that time. Plus I'm going to make a list of things to pack, things I need to get and just things in general! LOL!

I am very excited for the cruise, but I'm continuing to freak out about the flight. I think I'm going to message my friend who is a flight attendent.

This is what I hate about living in a different time zone, I get up in the morning and the thread is closed and I've lost all my multi-quote thingy-ma-jigs!

So anyhoo - Everyone that has left or is leaving - safe travels!
We have 3 more sleeps to go until we leave, can't believe it's finally here!

I have a hectic list of stuff to do over the next couple of days, won't be around much, see you all in a few days though! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I got wise to this around thread 4 or 5. I have expected for a days now that this thread might be closed at any time. So whenever I was not able to reply straight away, I multi-quoted, hit reply and then copied and pasted the lot into a blank email or Word document. I did this last night and now I can just hit reply again, copy and paste my multi-quotes into here and start replying.
