Just catching up before I am three pages behind again!

Can't remember if I posted since Friday night or not...but the Pahntom of the Opera was great! I had seen it about 10 years ago, so I love seeing it again.

I finished our pillowcases yesterday. It rained most of the day, so it was easy to stay in and do them! Couldn't go to the pool...and DS(15) baseball game was cancelled...so why not work on the pillowcases.

My girlfriends and I had our monthly 'Ladies Night' last night. I had them all over to our house. I had about 10 girls over...pretty good turn out! We sat around and drank wine and gossipped about anything we could think of! Oh ya...we ate and ate and ate..then drank and drank! I think the last person left around 1am!

Gotta run...another baseball game in a few hours and I still need to shower! THis morning was my morning to sleep in DH and I take turns on the weekends getting up with the little ones...yesterday he slept in and todya I did

Great to see Sue!! I'm glad you're doing ok!!

On the t-shirts... if you're using the dark t-shirt transfers you don't flip the image. The only bad thing is it has a white background so you have to trim a lot closer! If there is a Staples around you they have Avery transfers and will Price match 110%... So they price matched Wal-Mart and then I got a $5 rebate for each of them.... Great Deal!!!

I just went online and ordered some of those Pack-Mate spacesaver travel bags. Once I started looking at what I had to pack, I decided to get them. I had some a long time ago but they are the type that has to have a vacuum cleaner. Not very convenient for travel. Sounds like everyone is getting as excited as we are. With all the door signs my ds has made, we may have to "rent" some sspace on our neighbor's
doors!! I must say, making the door signs is contagious! Can't wait to meet everyone.

Donna, Any news about when hubby is coming home? I bet you are really excited about that. The Avery transfers work great....I like them much better than the ones from Michaels (which were fine but harder to work with and if you touched them they smeared). The Avery transfer paper is about 9.99 for 14 from Walmart.

cool tie died shirt...how did u do that? we r sitting here at DS baseball game...I did not think it was going to be so hot today! DS(3) is asleep in the car with DH! DS(1) was asleep in the car...I guess they are taking turns napping! DS(15) just got base hit and is now at 2nd. 6th inning...DS just came home...now we r only down by 4! Guess I should pay attention!

Jenny, we (DH and I) have a 27th Anniversary and Christian has a 4th Birthday on board!! Also we'll need two Dis meet reminder lists, one for each cabin. Thanks again for all your hard work on these and the signs!!

Jen, thanks for checking on Sweet Sue and so glad to hear she's ok. Also Jen, That is an awsome tie die!! and thanks for the info about the Ties at Wal Mart. I'm going there tomorrow. to try and tie up some loose ends.

Couldn't post all weekend, we were moving my office to another room to give DD a larger room, and had to wait to get hooked up.....boy did that take them for-ever!!

We're all fine here just rain little wind. Could be a lot worse...those poor people that will get hit...it will be bad.

Well we have to do the yard sale thing this Sat. and then get my house back into order. Then I hope to be able to start packing!!!!

Are we all excited yet????

Glad to hear people are getting their docs. can't wait till we get ours, it will seem so much more real.

I gotta tell you Jen, my husband and I are very impressed with the shirt. It is very cool!

Shopping nightmare today........I can not relive it or I would tell, it will just tick me off all over again. I guess that is a good life when all I have to complain about is a shopping trip gone bad.

First day of school here tomorrow! It is kind of nice to get back a routine.

Oh my God, I haven't been online since Thursday briefly because I got my exchange student Friday and I had to spend the time with him getting him used to us. I tell you what I hope he rubs off on my kids. He is so considerate and he helps out so much without us asking. He ran to the door Saturday afternoon and asked if I had a good day. I think I was ready to go to another house, I didn't think it was my house! He also eats like a bird. He is from Ecuador and he brought beautiful gifts for all of us, I mean gifts that you never have seen before and you can tell they are not from WalMart. They are homemade stuff like wood carved statues, purses, tableclothes, a wooden fruit basket with ceramic fruit in it, jewelry boxes, sweaters, winter caps,and that is only some of it. I was afraid that he didn't have enough clothes but I looked and he does. I also find out that he has a maid and a cook that live with him at home. I was a little upset knowing that he was stepping down into our life and I can't compete but he is such a great kid I don't think that money matters to him. He is even speaking better English in the last couple of days so that doesn't scare me either anymore. The thing now that scares me the most now is getting too close to him and then having to send him home in June. I'm getting really attached to him already. Well, enough of that.
I am hoping for the best for the south with Katrina, it looks like it is going to be a bad one. I am now crossing my fingers for no more hurricanes after this.
By the way, the count is good for me for room reminders. Well, it was a long weekend, I'm going to bed soon but I'm glad I'm back online again and things are calming down here now. Back to school tomorrow! The kids are definitely ready now. My daughter always cries the night before the first day tof school so I need to check on her right now, Bye!

Oh yeah I got my docs yesterday but my mom didn't but she just moved so will they forward their docs to their new place? I thought I would still get theirs because I booked their cruise onto ours and they are with my staterooms. Does anyone know if they will be forwarded?

Nursegardner, I'm in Jacksonville, NC. (Near Camp Lejeune Marine base). Where are you? Missy, it is great to get back to a routine. School started here on Thurs. and it does seem good to be back to having a little time to myself. I did some packing today.
Then my crazy dog ran away and I spent half of the evening looking for him.

We booked with DCL directly but no documents yet. I am hoping they are still trying to sell my cabin out from under me and give me an upgrade. Busy weekend -- drove back from business in Evansville, IN to get to my daughter's basketball tournament. They lost but that was a good thing since we had tickets for her to see Raven Symone from the Disney Channel in concert the next night. Our town had a Heritage day with a parade on Saturday morning -- imagine a small town parade like they had 3-4 decades ago with high school bands, homemade floats, girl & boy scouts marching,
veterans marching.

I received my new tuxedo from Tuxedo Direct -- for only $ 50 more than the cruise tuxedo rental so I splurged and I am quite happy with the quality and fit.

Jenny -- can you provide (3) reminders for each cabin my group -- Thanks.

My thoughts and prayers to those facing Hurricane Katrina. May God protect everyone's families, homes and businesses.

Hi, hi, hi everyone! Back from my last weekend at the Lake until after the cruise -- so the last weekend of swimming, etc. My friend and her dot went with me and DD. I must not be up to Missy's stds b/c my friend kept telling me the names of parenting books she liked...hmmmmm.... So, I guess that tells you abt the weekend.

Melissa! thanks for popping in. We are all very attached to your little sister and can't wait to meet you all. Congrats on your baby girl. You must be beyond excited. You will not believe what your heart is about to do. I mean it. It is unbelieveable. And instantaneous.

Donna, tell me how those space savers are. I got the 2.5 gallon ziplocks. Seems like they'll be handy for princess dresses and the like.

Lorra, I'm so jealous. this is something I hope to do someday -- when DD is in HS esp since she's an only child. What an amazing experience. Two of my good frineds in HS had foreign exchange students stay with then for a year (AFS) and yes, it will break your heart next June, but you will always have him -- both of the families I know still visit with their exchange students. One from teh UK, one from Turkey. And that was 20 some years ago.

Jen, love the tie dye. Awesome! Crocs are popular here too. My friend ordered the sandal style. They were on sale on a website. She also got them for the parks.

Sue, hope you get power soon. We lost power for a few weeks after Andrew and when we returned, I'd forgotten to throw out the milk. I will never forget that smell. Ever.

Missy, you are scaring me with the we won't go to any formal functions, you won't know who we are talk. Do you intend to pretend like you don't know all of us on the ship? We WILL hunt you down. We have your cabin number...

John, I'm now jealous and wondering if we shouldn't have done the same for DH. Oh well, he'll look spiffy in his suit and you know he's thrilled abt the matching tie.

Good to hear from everyone. Lorra, How exciting! I'm glad things are going well. It should be a fascinating year and you will always have a friend in Equador. That is very special. Like I said, with four kids, you are a saint. But it kind of makes me want to do it. How did you get involved with it?
One of my best friends lives in Pascaquola, Mississippi..which is east of Biloxi on the Gulf. I called her today and of course, she answered her phone. Crazy. She said she decided to stay when it was a Cat 3 and then all of a sudden it was a 4 then a 5. I hope she is okay. The hardest part is, I know she won't have electricity for a long time so I won't know. Anyway.....
I haven't check the mail....so no docs yet....will it come faster if I check? I can't wait to meet everyone. I hope everyone makes it to atleast the first meet. I respect everyone's need for family privacy but I soooo bad want to meet everyone. We are traveling with another family (Trisha) that we met on the cruise so I am sooooo into meeting new people and having fun!

Jen, love the tie-died shirt, great idea! I have looked at 3 Walmart stores in Columbus, but none had the Mickey ties. All said they have never had them to their knowledge. Was looking for DGS's. Lisa doesn't get a chance to get around to the stores as easily as I can, so I've been picking up some things for her. Went shopping with her when she got her formal & semi-formal dresses, but had to take the DGS's(18mo & 3), which is a little, (no alot!!) harder than going by myself!! Pretty much all I did was watch the boys & give Lisa advice on dresses she tried on while the boys terrorized the dressing room! That's not my idea of shopping, although I know I used to do it with my own many, many years ago, but I'm just not as young as I used to be, & I'm also spoiled with getting to do shopping & things without little ones!

SweetSue, so glad you braved the storm OK, hope you get power soon.

Jen, also can you send me a updated list again? Haven't had one for a while. Thanks!

Have been experimentally (is that a word?) packing just to make sure I can fit everything in & more so don't go over weight on my check-ins. Hate to admit it, but guess I might be getting just a little anxious about flying alone-never have. DH &/or kids have always been with me. I have to be @ airport by about 5 A.M.!! Maybe earlier, because I may have to drive, park & take the shuttle to the airport, check-in & hope my luggage isn't over-weight!! I'll be a nervous wreck by the time I get boarded!

Meant to say "hi" to Melissa, Jenny's DS & what a good sport she must be to take pie in the face!

Lorra...my niece was a foreign exchange student last year, she went to Brazil, she only made it 6 weeks before she caved & came home. The biggest reason she left was the Host Mom was not very nice to her. I wish she would have waited it out and went to a different family, but by the time she told the main guy it was too late, she wanted to come home. The host mom made her feel fat... she's 16 & a double D so of course she's not pencil thin.. but not fat really either, the host mom made several comments to her about her weight and how she looks. That just made her more homesick. Just so you know that you will have an effect on making him feel very welcome here in the US.... congrats!!

Jenny, you are correct, we only need one meet list. DH and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary on Sept 20 (pirate night!).

I can't believe how fast the cruise is approaching now. Finishing my last out of town jaunt/commitment makes it seem more real. DH is getting excited too.

Susan, KSUMom, I think we are on the same flights out and back. We'll be the really sleepy ones on Friday morning boarding early with our 4yo. My DH is tall (6'1"), I'm short (60") and DD looks like a miniature version of me. "I call her mini me" -- we get that A LOT.

It's late, I'm sleepy, but have laundry to tend to and a mini workout. Ugg. Night all.
