Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Evening everyone.

Sue, hope you are okay. I heard the hurricane hit already and it was right between you and Miami. So here's some :wizard: and hoping you are okay. Hope you are enjoying the bbq'd frozen pizza.

Jenny, I try, I really do. I have to do something around here. And it serves as a nice reminder to me every morning just how close it really is now. It's hard to believe that I only joined the boards in April and now it's already almost here.

Hi to everyone else!!!

Emily

I second the well-wishes for Sue (and Tammy and Karen).

Emily, I just want to reassure myself that you (and all others) know I'm just teasing you! :) I appreciate the reminders; it's become a staple of daily DIS reading. :)

Our school system has a standard procedure to take your kids out of school for a pre-approved vacation. I have never run into any issues with any school employee reguarding this. We also live in a middle/upper class area that seems to really support educational opporitunity for what it is (i.e. they agree with all of us lol). If I could bring my parents back tomorrow, I would take my kids out of school instantly to spend time with them. This is how I feel about having my kids miss school to go on a fabulous educational experience with my in-laws. It is in a word, "priceless".

That being said, state law in Ohio I believe mandates the nasty letter after 10 days of absence no matter what the reason (unless it is medically excused). In our district it is up to the teacher weather the student can make up missed work (or get a 0) after the 10 days have passed. I have never heard of that happening, if the kids want to make up the work however. The district loses points on the rating scale from the government based on the absenteeism rates.

ok..that was windy. shhhhhhh Missy

Does anyone "milk the cow" when they play euchre?

Have a good night everyone,
Missy

WOW! I was gone for a couple of hours and it takes about 15 minutes to catch up. I had to clean today because I cleaned the other day when I thiught the exchange student was coming but I got a phone call in the afternoon that day and was informed that his tickets were screwed up and he was stuck half way between his home (Ecuador) and here so now I recleaned so it would look good in my house when he comes. I just got home from work and now I'm tired so I'm going to bed.
Hurricane be nice to Florida people please!

Lorra

Received our cruise documents today. If I hadn't been looking for them I'd never have noticed. My it was on my garage floor in front of a whole bunch of junk I have staked up .... I really need to get that in order. :)

Sue-Our thoughts and prayers are with you for the safety of your family. Also, the rest of the FL residents being affected by this storm.

Went to Dillards today. Spent $140. that was just my stuff. It is 50% + the additional 30% here too. I was liking it. The dress I wanted just did not fit right though. :rotfl2: Maybe next year.

Jenny- glad to hear you are fine.

I owe Angela a dining room table and chairs for losing the 20#. If she hits 25 or 30 its also a new patio furniture set. I think that is what is driving her. But seriously, she walks around a nearby park every weekday, eats right and is just more active since she quit work. I will have a new pic by the weekend. Heck I have lost 12 pounds since I took this new job. No more sitting in the office on my rear end.

No trouble with pulling Abby out of school. :teacher: Teacher is going to put together assignments. We have her fill out a journal also on the trips, then she can share it with class upon her return.

No docs yet here either, I'm guessing next week. Its Friday thank goodness!!!! Only 15 more work days! :cheer2: & just a short 21 days until :boat: Will check in later.

BRAD :teeth:

Good morning!! Has anyone heard from Sue? I hope all is well!!

Three weeks from tomorrow we'll be meeting!! YEA!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

Good morning -- congrats on wheelin' and dealin'. Hope all is well with Sweet Sue. We were watching the debris in Coconut Grove (just s. of Miami) on TV this morning. Reminded me of sneaking past the National Guard on our bicycles after Andrew and seeing all the yachts tossed up in the park around Dinner Key marina (In the Grove, where Don Johnson lived/kept his boat on Miami Vice). I'll have to dig out my photos and show DD.

So close, so close. Weeeeeeeeee!

Sweettttt Suuueeee, Where are you? Hope all is well and hope you have power! I'm sure you will check in when you can. I know you have your hands full. I pray this hurricane doesn't hit the panhandle again. They have had enough!
I will call her later if we don't hear from her.
Brad and Trisha, got your updates for your kids. I will get that done today.
Brad, We still want to know WHERE Angela lost the weight from. You to for that matter. I wish I had that park here :rotfl2:
Speaking of weight....just think, whatever you put in your mouth from here on, goes on the trip with you via carryon (carryon your thighs, carryon your butt, carryon your gut) :rotfl2: Final push to weight loss splendor! Come on FFCers!
Sappy part... :umbrella:
I was thinking last night how wonderful a vacation you all have made this for me already. Maybe on the cruise we will see a lot of each other or maybe hardly at all (or not at all). It doesn't matter. I consider you all my friends and I hope on our return we can still keep in touch and keep this post going. I hate to think that I spent everyday with you all for 9 months (for me) and then nothing. I know that won't happen but I just wanted you all to know how this is the best cruise I have ever taken and we haven't even left home yet, thanks to you. :teeth:

Oh and I keep forgetting...
Lorra, How cool is it that you are getting a exchange student! What a great experience for your kids and the student...which brings us to you. ARE YOU CRAZY! You have like fifty kids already! Are you a sucker for punishment! Just kidding! I think it rocks!
Brad, It is the end of the week. Now we really want another pic!

Morning everyone!

Just a short: WE HAVE 21 DAYS TO GO

Sorry I can't post long, too much work to do. For once that comes first.

Jen, I feel the same way. It's been nice getting to know everyone and make new friends. I can't wait to meet all of you and hope, like Jen, that we keep on talking even when we get back.

And Jenny, I know you're joking. That's what makes it so much fun.

Emily

Hi all!

We received our cruise documents on Tuesday (MIL got them last Friday). We are pretty much ready to roll.

I don't think we are going to dress up for pirates night. The kids were opposed to it, so that is fine...we are going to MNSSHP in October, so we are working on costumes for that.

I think Chelsea has IMd and/or e-mailed with Emily and Courtney. She is looking forward to seeing everyone on ship. Our kiddos have a 2 week break in September each year, so no school problems here! (Although I took them out of school at least twice a year before changing schools - without too much hassle :earboy2: ).

We are spending the night before at VWL and then going back to BCV after the cruise, so if you are going to be around at those times, let me know!

I am finally booking excursions today...whatever may be left! lol!

Have a great week. See everyone soon! :sunny:

I hate Cheeseballs :rotfl2:
Tammy, so good to hear from you. I have been thinking of you and wondering where you have been. Good to have you back! If Lord Sheffield interests you, he opened another ship....the FFCers have filled the first two..
http://www.innergwindows.com/lord_sheffield/index.html
Anyway, good to have you back.
I updated the kids pages....I have almost all the kids information (hint Missy).

Ohio DFS got a look at the photo and description of Missy and Bo and the kids are now in protective custody far, far away. I think you are out of luck, Jen.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Maybe state services could then send me a description!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Not that removing kids is at all funny :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

. Jen well put!
I must say, where else can a married man chat with a bunch of ladies and not get in any trouble.
Friday dance... :thewave:

Especially with the ladies all talking about how suelte his wife is and how she doesn't need to lose any weight! :teeth:

My oh my...gone for a few days and it took me over an hour to catch up!

I can't believe I missed the conversation about Chocolate covered strawberries........I LOVE them!!!!!!!!! :cloud9: They are my absolute favorite thing to eat. I always stop in the Godiva store when I am at the mall to get one.

I am so glad my sister asked what Magical Express documents were, because I had no idea either!

Glad to hear there are people that like to play euker...DH likes to play so I will have to tell him that he may have a few poker partners and some euker players to hook up with! And he was worried about being bored! :rotfl:

I have not watched the weather lately...I hope all is well with those who live in FL.

I don't know how you all remember who said what! But in regards to the family problems...hang in there! All family's have their problems...lord knows ours does...right sis (KSUmom)??? Sometimes it is better to vent to those who have a biased opinion...or none at all...rather than those who are directly involved :sunny: Keep your chin up :goodvibes

I was up until 1am last night working on the pillowcases for character signatures! Is anyone else doing the pillowcase project...as I call it! Let me tell you, this has been a project! I am so not the artistic one! I ruined several packs of paper because I bought the wrong stuff and one pillowcase! Luckily Wal-Mart took back the paper after I gave them my sob story :cheer2: That crap is not cheap! So I now have one pillowcase done and three more to go! How many weeks to I have left?!?! :earseek:

I so wanted to see Wicked! It was showing while we were in Chicago, but did not have time to fit it into our plans! Not sure is it is coming to Columbus...or if it already has.

We are going to see The Phantom of the Opera tongiht...now I wish I had not stayed up until 1am lat night...I am going to be so tired tongiht!

DS(15) has his first baseball game tomorrow and another one on Sunday..so w will be busy watching baseball this weekend...and working on pillowcases! :rotfl:

I got our FFC shirts yesterday...have all our pirate attire and our formal wear. I think I am on my way to being ready!

I don't think I have ever taken DS(15) out of school for this long of a vacation before...but I guess we will see what the school has to say! He starts back on Tuesday and I will be calling them that am.

Man I am long winded today! Now I will probably have another whole page of posts to catch up since I took so long to make my post!
