Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Sherrie  funny you should mention it, and I don't know whether it mattered or not, but I called yesterday and linked my reservation (early) with Wendy's. Her travel agent didn't mention it but maybe they saw it on the computer. Somebody call and link Brad's ....it doesn't mean you will be at the same table (although everyone loves Brad) just helps...Now we are trying to get Wendy at the same table. I already have two families linked to my name but if noone steps up and nothing changes I will link your to mine, too, Brad. It doesn't really do much but let them know you are traveling together and want the same times + you can book more than two for Palo, etc.

Went shopping again yesterday. So fun to hit the deals. I think my entire wardrobe for the cruise will be new. My husband was moaning about having to work yesterday...how hard, all the responsibility etc...he says, "What are you doing?" "Uhhhhhh Cleaning the house, yeah that's it. I am certainally NOT at the mall" Shhhhh! I feel sorry for the guy. I have it pretty good. He wouldn't care that I was out, but misery loves company, right.

I am laughing at Susan's post. I can just see Wendy calling Disney at the "screaming hour" and putting Phoebe on the phone, screaming, and saying THIS IS WHY I WANT EARLY AND I AM CALLING EVERYDAY AT THIS TIME IF YOU DON'T GIVE IT TO ME!

Hi everyone,

Congratulations on the seating, Wendy. I'm glad it worked out. Hopefully Brad gets it too.

Tracy, if I had kids, I'd pull them out of school for a vacation.

Sherrie, glad to see you post. I don't think I'll be doing the live thread, so hopefully someone else will.

Glad everyone's getting deals on clothes. My eBay shorts should be here soon.

We had a bad night here last night. I didn't go to work today. I just didn't feel up to being emotionally stable to be the counselor my clients need. I expect to be more of a lurker for the next day or so.

Thanks for the countdown, Emily. Knew I could count on you. :)

Jenny, Hope everything is all right.....we'll be thinking of you. Keep smiling as much as you can.

Tracy, I would pull my kids in a heart beat....family time is soooo much more important to me than a week of school. Plus being that we all have natural geniuses, right ;) :rotfl2:

I just updated the website (read finally), kids page, excursion/room page, MSWint and batc page. batc I think you are in the cabin next to Brad...

Jenny, you're welcome and I hope everything is okay.

Jen, what is the fun of going on a cruise if you can't have a new wardrobe to cruise with?

Me again....I just called Disney ...being linked does mean you are at the same table. The tables are only for eight, however, so if you are linked they put you at a table nearby.

Hi all:

I haven't been on the board in ages, it is getting so close to our trip that I plan to check it at least daily and keep up on what all is going on with everyone.

Wendy, Congratulations on getting the early seating. I have been calling Disney every other day checking our waitlisted request for the early seating, with no luck. Yesterday they told me to call 3 days before our cruise since that is when they will actually do the seating charts. I figure if I wait until then it will be too late. Any help linking us to where you all are sitting would be much appreciated- there is only the 3 of us (me, DH and DS, age 5).

We also have been on guaranteed status for our stateroom and yesterday I found out that we have been upgraded 3 categories to a verandah! I did a major happy dance!! We are on Deck 5.

Did anyone ever find out anymore information about the 2nd ship that was added on the Lord Sheffield shore excursion on Saint Maarten. I emailed them last week and have not heard back regarding any details about what type of boat we are on.

Jen, thanks again for updating our bio on the website. Every time I look at it, you impress me even more. Love the Kid's page!!

Pam

Pam and Brad, happy to link you all to mine. I called the Castaway Club number, 800-449-3380. I'll need full name of party ressie is under and number in party. Or, you can call and link to us, ressie is under Jeffrey Watson. There are 3 of us. Also, Brad, did you try the e-mail address Sweet Sue gave? That seemed like a good idea.

Pam -- tell me how the upgrade worked, how did you get it? That's cool!

Wendy - glad you got the early seating! :cool1:
Brad - if you want to link to my reservation, go for it! I've already got 6 on the ressie, so any other group should push to a new table. Just PM me.
Jenny - we've got lots of shoulders here. Please let us know how you are. Is it your grandma or something new? :grouphug:
Mommasita/Sherri - great to see you joining us once in awhile. We may have to carry around a Sherri doll to join in all of our activities!
Emily - Aw, does that mean we can't bang on your door and say "WE'RE HERE! Can Emily come out and play?" :rotfl2: We could all traipse right on over after the SSSBS! All 50 or so DISers at once! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Okay, seriously though, I understand need for privacy. We'll all pretend we don't know where your cabin is. :)
Strollers: Here is what I found out. They are located on Deck #3 and can be used for your entire trip. They are Graco 4-wheeled strollers. You get them from Guest Services.
Docs: As far as I know, I'm the only one that has gotten them (along with my DB). They came via FedEx ground. I got mine a few days ago, my DB got his yesterday. The box is just a bit longer than the box checks come in.

Whew! I think I'm caught up now. Well, I guess I better get back to work. My boss called me all the way from Singapore this morning so I better get cracking...

Sweet Sue

Jenny, sorry you are feeling less than full throttle. Hope you are kicking back and relaxing. Turn off the head. :flower1:

Mommasita, cool news on the star. Friday sounds fun.

PALO -- after we get the early thing all figured out, anyone interested in trying to do 2 nights at Palo? I would in a heart beat...

Thanks, Wendy!

We are very anxious to get reservations at Palo, too- so we would be interested.

Here's how the upgrade worked- We booked a category 9, oceanview room. They try to overbook the lowest price staterooms, so when we booked we were not able to get a room number and we were put on guaranteed status. This entitled us to at least a category 9 room or better and Disney can put you wherever they want. We were hoping to maybe move up to a Category 8 but when I called Disney yesterday they said we had been upgraded 3 categories to Category 6. How we lucked out on that deal- I have no idea. Normally we aren't not very lucky. The Passporter book said upgrades are not very common so I didn't think we would get an upgrade.

I was hoping to be even more lucky, but they keep telling me I am still waitlisted for the early dinner. If the link works out, I will really appreciate it! I will try calling this afternoon.

I had an emotional morning, our DS started Kindergarten. I videotaped him going in the front door at school and sitting into his classroom. The teachers thought I was hilarious. I am the type of Mom that takes photos of everything, though. Our scrapbooks are bursting at the seams.

Pam

I will do 2 nights. The prob I am having is you can't book for 4 until you are linked...but you have to release the res you have to try and book for four after you are linked and it freaks me out to release what I have....maybe on the ship it can be arranged or dare we say, another phone call.
Pam great on the cabin upgrade....I just spend a ton of time diagraming all the cabins (of course for the webpage and it is difficult to change...e-mail me the new number and i will try...for everyone else I will get it up and running from the vital stats sheet today. (click on painted pic on home page and link from there)

Actually, I haven't heard anything about my great-grandma in a couple of days. I apologize for being so mysterious. It's nothing monumental, just some issues with people not seeing eye-to-eye.

Sue, Karen (newly-Californian Karen) got her docs yesterday also. Must be a coastal US trend. :)

Yup! That is Diamond Head ... We've been 3 times as a family, and I lived out there for two years ... U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis.

Hmmm, Kaneohe ... I'm guessing a "Hoorah! Marine!" is in order. pirate:

Oh yes! I know the U.S. Coast guard Cutter Jarvis well. I do get to see it from time to time. We love the Coast Guard here, real life savers! :) I used to work with a guy that retired from the Coast Guard here, he's on the Big Island.

I'm not a Marine, but I do my shopping at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Base. Such a wonderful shopping center they have on base there now. Waiting for them to finish their new McDonald's .... lol ...

Hey everyone...
Great to hear from you again, Sherrie! :grouphug: Thanks for the update. Sounds like your DS is doing great!! :cheer2:

Jenny, I hope you're OK. Keep us posted. :grouphug:

Jen, I am planning on going shopping Saturday. I've been really trying to hold out for better sales. But I think MOST of my cruise wardrobe will be new clothes! Is there any other way to do it? ;)

Things have been really busy here. I talked to my mom this morning, and my grandparents are not doing so great. My g-ma has been figting breast cancer for a while, and she has beginning stages of Alzheimer's, so she forgets that she has cancer. So there's been a little family joke that she's still alive because she doesn't know she's sick! (you know how they say that a positive outlook can sometimes affect the outcome...well how can you have a NEGATIVE outlook when you don't even know you have cancer?!?! LOL) So anyway, they stopped chemo a while ago because she was worn out and it wasn't doing much good. Now things are getting a little worse, so they're starting the chemo up again. She's such a fighter.
And my grandpa has always had an anxiety problem (as long as I can remember) and he was diagnosed with asymptomatic manic depression (or something like that. I can't remember what the name is exactly...it means that he thinks he is dying, and so he starts actually having symptoms as if he really is. Like last night he called my mom in the middle of the night and told her that his kidneys were failing.) He had to be hospitalized for three weeks about a month ago because he wasn't sleeping at all...like for a week straight. They're doing their best to regulate his meds, but they think that they may have to resort to shock therapy. He's had shock therapy before ( when I was little, I kinda remember it) and he did pretty well with it. But I just hate the sound of that...you know? So things are a little crazy...I really need a vacation! *sigh* but I really wish I could afford to grab my mom away and get her on this cruise with us. She's had to deal directly with all of this...on top of the fact that her husband (my stepdad) is recovering (and seems to be doing well) from a bout with prostate cancer. She SOOOO needs a vacation. Someday I'm going to be able to afford to take her away on the vacation of a lifetime...

Anyway, I need to stop now. I don't know why this is all just getting to me all of a sudden...I guess it's all coming to a head. I'm supposed to be working, and instead I'm online venting...

Thanks all of you for being here. I haven't really shared all of this with anyone, and I'm not sure what I hope to accomplish by telling you all. I guess it just feels good to share it. It's almost like I was trying to focus on all of the other busy stuff in my life and avoid that stuff like it will go away. BUt all of a sudden today it's just very much on my mind.

Anyway, thanks again. Sorry for the long post...
Take care everyone :grouphug:
-Christal

Christal,

I'm sorry for what your family is going through. It sounds like way too much stuff all at once. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: And more :grouphug:.

And a little :wizard: that this will pass quickly and things will be better for your family soon. I imagine it's very difficult for your Mom right now - and you to. We're here to listen whenever you need to vent.

And now, on to a totally unrelated topic. South Florida just went under hurricane watch. :umbrella: Katrina is scheduled to make a bummer of a weekend for us both nothing to serious yet. Port Canaveral is a bit too far north to be impacted at this time. I was really hoping Florida would get a break this year but Katrina is heading right for us. I HATE putting up hurricane shutters....

Sweet Sue

Crystal, so sorry things are so tough now. Try and smile as much as you can and keep focusing on the good stuff. It's hard when those we love fall on hard times. We suffer right along with them. Chin up girl, only three weeks and you will have something to take your mind off of your worries!

The other page on the website is done off of the hidden page.
Sue, buckle up! I hope it is mild!!! or better yet...not at all. Keep us informed.

Jen I forgot to reply to your question re: the kids. The older ones are in school all day, and my 3 year old will start pre-school in a few weeks, then my niece who babysits will keep him most days, and my MIL will keep him a few Weds. a month, she's off on Wed.

I've really enjoyed getting out of the house!

I hope everyone who's not having a great day starts to have a better one!! :goodvibes

Emailed TA and Docs were sent via 3 day mail to her on the 19th!! Hope to get them soon!!! :teeth:

Sending the pixie dust to FL so that bad weather goes good!! :umbrella:

Wow!! Been away for a day, what I had to catch up on :rotfl2:

Sweet Sue..at the risk of sounding like Gomer Pyle "Thank you...Thank you...Thank you!!" I've been trying to get early seating and so I sent an e-mail to the site you told us about dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com and I received a response with EARLY seating!!!  BRAD e-mail them!!! NOW!!!!! :wizard: :goodvibes Winmo give the e-mail a try also! :goodvibes
I was going to say Wendy too but YEAH for Wendy! Glad you got them. :goodvibes Sweet Sue good luck with Katrina, I will be watching.
