Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Jenny, just let us know if you need to up the door sign cost -- I'll pay whatever ... don't want you footing an extra bill for doing this for all of us! And it is Changes in Latitude. A great Jimmy Buffett song. The words go like this, "changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, no one remains quite the same...thru all of the islands and all of the highlands, if we didn't laugh we would all go insane..." I'm sure the words are a bit different than that, but that's what I get from signing along with JB. No word on dinner yet.

Christal, awesome deals. Way to go. And on the other, well, things have a way of working out the way they are suppossed to, so... better homes and better jobs must be around the corner. Hindsight will answer all! I struggled in my career early on and from the first 3 jobs I would never have guessed that things would work out they way they are suppossed to, but those 3 led into #4, which wouldn't have happened absent those 3, and 7 1/2 yrs later, it has been the BEST! I actually love my career and I didn't for a long time at first which is hard to swallow when you've 7 years of higher education invested -- I'm just saying, there is a reason things go the way they do. IMO, anyway. And I DO tend to be opinionated.... Keep your chin up.

Not much else to report today. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Yes - it's me!!!!! I'm BAAAAACCCK!
Well, kind of.

Sorry about the long absence, I really missed you guys. Where did all these dog smilies come from anyways? I was looking for the sad one and found :paw: and :dog: and :dog2: and :pug: . I want my kitty cat!

I digress... anyhow life has just been :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc lately. Got back from DGM's funeral and the boss said "New Job - NOW". So I went from 0 employees to 10 in about 30 seconds. :cool1: Except I went from 0 employees to 10 and about 5 of them are :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: soooo I've been spending every waking moment on call, watching over the :badpc: of the company. And wishing I had :wizard: to make them work! Alas, all seems to be quite now, so I have a few moments of peace. In the meantime, my DD just started a brand new school almost 30 miles from her old school (completely unexpectedly - decision to enrollment in 4 days). Her bus comes at 6:05 AM. I didn't even used to get up until 7! Where's the sleep smiliey when you need one????

Well, gotta run again because it's now dream time, even if it's :sunny:.

Didn't catch up on the posts, so  to anyone new.
Jenny - very, very sorry about your grandma, having just gone through it I know how bad it can be, even if it is the "best" thing. My DGM lasted about a week after hospice but I've known others to last a month. Hang in there - :grouphug: :grouphug:

Sweet Sue

OK, I am exhausted! I don't remember the last time I posted but I had about 5 pages to catch up on. I had a busy weekend with Bunco on Friday night and shopping on Saturday. Sunday was church and trying to catch up on some family time. Yesterday I didn't feel so great so I mostly laid on the couch and Braden had soccer practice last night.
School starts this week which means homework does also. My bowling league starts next Wednesday so our weeknights are going to start getting busy but I like the routine. For me, it keeps things running smoothly.
We finally got some rain last night but we are going to need another week of it to catch up on what we should have gotten by now.
For those of you who would rather do iron-on FFC shirts yourself, I got Fruit of the Loom shirts from Wal-Mart for 3 dollars a piece. They had the ringer T's but didn't have any left in Steve's size so I got the V neck one. I think the kids' are going to be a little big but, oh well. I got me a ribbed tank top from Old Navy but it is ribbed so I was wondering if the iron on would work alright. Anyone know?
I watched all 5 parts of the Soverign of the Seas drydock today and I am getting so excited for our cruise. Its just around the corner now.

Boy, this post is all about me isn't it? Sorry! I hope all are doing well. Jenny, I pray for a quick and painless passing for your GG'ma. Christal, everything happens for a reason. Keep your chin up! Talk to you all again soon.

Weird Ohio happenings.

A 7-year old elephant was found dead in his stall today. :confused3

Searching for a new backyard playset for the kids? Well, for a bargain, Cedar Point is selling the Demon Drop. :scratchin

Sue, so good to have you back! Thanks for keeping us "posted"! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Hi! I just got home from shopping for school and for the cruise for the last time. I got dress pants for the boys for $8.00 and dress shirts for $4.00 so I am happy :) . I'm all ready now! I'm going to start packing things tomorrow. I just need to have my dress hemmed and my pillowcases made. I then am ready. I should get a new pair of sandals but if I don't, excuse my feet on the cruise. I could even buy some in Florida. No, I don't want to waste my precious time down there.
Does anyone trade pins on the cruise or at WDW? We did last year, we went to the Disney outlet and bought $1.00 pins that usually cost $8-12.00 and traded them. They were all the same pins, Snow White and Cinderella but who cares you trade them anyway. Trust me, all the crew on the ship had one but we got some really nice pins in return.
Does any one else have teens that push them to the limit, I have one that may not make it through his teen years. He took a dremel to his good dresser that I bought him when he was a baby, he is 13 years old not 5. When I got home from the store tonight my husband showed me it :earseek: . He is so lucky that I had him because I saw red. He is always into something. He just got his dirt bike fixed and now he will not drive it until he pays off the dresser he ruined. It will take him a very long time, trust me. He also has no room anymore. He will use the livingroom to sleep, he can not go into his room. He is also not allowed out of the house for as long as I'm angry which could be his 18th birthday at this point. Do you think I'm overreacting or do you think I am a wacko? I am so angry and now I need to apologize for venting to you guys. Who wants to hear my teen problems?
Anyway, I hope everyone had a good day! I think the people at Lord are getting irritated with me. I e-mailed them to see if I could charter a boat for a birthday party , they do do this, and they said everything is booked so I looked on the web for something else and came across the pirate ship so I tried booking through this company not realizing it was Lord. They e-mailed me again saying they were booked, not nicely either, so I'm not going to ask again. Well, I'll check back tomorrow.

Lorra

Wendy, thanks for the words of encouragement :)

Jenny, don't sweat the name spelling...
But if we buy the Demon Drop, could you bring it to us on the cruise? :rotfl2:

Well, good night all! Have a Happy Wednesday!
-Christal

Hello all! Just dropped in to catch up. Happy belated anniversary Karen. Our 16th anniversary is Thursday. This will be the 1st one we have ever missed spending together. School starts next week. DS may not be ready but I think I'm ready!!
I know that sounds awful but I really dont have a sitter and it has made for some difficult shopping days. I'm dreading telling his new teacher that he will miss the week of the cruise. -Donna

Donna, I'm sure his teacher won't begrudge him a week's vacation with his dad... especially considering his dad has been out of the country so long! Only someone truly evil would give you a hard time about it.

Lorra, we are living with a 13yo here too. I'm feeling your pain.

We went out to dinner tonight with the kids (well, 3 of them; the 13yo wanted to stay home and watch "Gilmore Girls."). Tried some place we'd never been before, called "Baker's Square." (Think Village Inn for those of you who live some place with those.) The food was pretty good, but the service was LOUSY. We sat there 10 minutes before someone finally came to take our order. Then waited 20-25 minutes for our food (BLT, burger, pancakes for the kids). My fries were cold, but hubby's were hot. We couldn't get anyone's attention to alert them to the fact... took us over 15 minutes before anyone would even look our way. By that time everyone was done eating, so I didn't want fresh fries. They did take my meal off the ticket when I told them our complaint. I don't know if we'll go back... I really wanted to try one of the slices of pie, but probably not at that location.

Karen

:flower: Just a quick post to say "hi" to everyone! :wave2: :wave2:
Took the last hour or so trying to catch up on posts. Sounds like all are busy getting ready for the big cruise!!  I have been too. Finding lots of good bargains. Yeah, I love a bargain!! :cheer2: Getting really excited about the cruise!
My DH (who is not going) is beginning to get a little jealous that I am going with the kids and grands and he is not! But it was his choice a long time ago. He says his idea of a vacation does not include his grown daughters, sil's, and grands! And he's just not too happy around alot of kids, especially other people's!! He's getting tired of me talking about the cruise and says "I think I'm not going to let you go". I say, "Sorry, but I'm going!" :) :flower: Really feel kinda' bad about leaving him at home alone, but I think he's big enough to take care of himself for a week!!
My DD (KSUMOM) has the Mickey Tiki shirts and dresses, but couldn't find one for her youngest, we have been checking Disney stores everywhere, but no luck! :goodvibes
I'm not too great with computers stuff & have not been able to figure out how to get the timelines? It will be too late by the time I figure it out!! Oh, well!! :confused3 :confused3
Hope everyone is doing great. Gotta get to bed. See you all soon. :grouphug: :grouphug:
Jen the web site is looking better all the time!! Great job! Thanks for all your hard work! :wave2:

Busy day! It is 11:30 so not much time. Sweet sue and Christal glad you are back...we all felt your absence.

Trisha, You can't iron on to ribbed shirts unless you are more talented than I.
Lorra, I am sooooo sorry. This to shall pass, this to shall pass, this to shall pass....keep saying it...this to shall pass....
Hardly anyone has commented on Missy's pic...seek and you shall enjoy. I got pics of Donna (Tia) and TammyG which I will get up soon.

hi everyone.

not much to report here.
Lilly is finally big enougth to "play" with nick - or at least roll around in his room, but it keeps them both ahppy and gives me a couple of minutes to my self so i am happy.

DH gave me his packing list yesterday.... well there goes the rest of the space in the suitcase. so after much careful consideration i have decided that my going nude would be unwise (not to say embarresing) so i will have to factor in a second suitcase...

Jen can you please send me the picture for the iron on. i forgot to factor in the overseas postal time.

Jenny is the door signs cost more just let us know it is not a problem.

now to really test my memory... Sue was it you that had ordered a packet of magnets? if so do you still have any spare i would love to get one.

anyway must run sounds like Nick is squashing Lilly again (we call it rough love)

bye

Jenny, please let me know if the cost needs to go up on the door signs, not at all a problem. I appreciate you doing these.

Hey, Sue and Christal you have been missed :goodvibes

Happy Anniversary Tia make sure when DH returns you too make up that special time together. You both deserve it :goodvibes

Lorra..what can I say survival of the BOY teen age years. I thought my DS wouldn't make it to age 19. Boy and Girls are soooo different and as they get to that age....they test your mother skills. BIG TIME!!! Good luck and if you need to vent let me know I have some very special "Brandon" (my DS) stories as well that would probably make your DS look like a saint. :teeth:

Hi Brad and Penny aka sillymemaw, don't you feel bad going :goodvibes

Michelle going through the same problem about suitcases with DH, DD, DS and even DGS. Seems everyone needs to pack a list for about two weeks worth, even though it's only for 8 days. This is when I refer back to my list (THANK YOU JEN) and we're going to try and stick to it!!! How do I make another suitcase just appear??? :rotfl2:

Glad to see we're all working on the same thing...boy I know the time will rush by now. My DH came into the bedroom last night :earseek: and said we're at our 30 day countdown!!!! I still have so much to do, I need to find some shopping time on the weekend instead of helping DD with this upcoming yard sale of hers. You'll reconigze me right away I'll be the one running toward the ship with cloths on hangers, tags flying in the wind.....flip flops stuck in my back pockets and stuffing heels in the bag as I trying to catch up. If I don't get it all done, I WANT A DIGITAL CAMERA are you reading this Paul????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well I better close for now :rolleyes1

Have a GREAT day everyone :sunny:

Michelle, I will send out an iron on.

Jenny, I forgot, yesterday to day BUMMER. I, too, will help with the costs if they exceed your projections (who talks like that). Another idea, if this next batch does the same thing is to photo copy them on to the magnets. I know this will add a dollar each but I'm pretty sure people can afford it ($3 vs$2). Just a thought to save you brain damage in case this batch does the same thing. I hope not.
Lorra, this to shall pass, this to shall....
Tammy, I like to live under the illusion that my son will be the easy one and he will be wonderful to be around and love his mama. You are being a dream squasher!!! He just needs to mature....just a little...anytime would be good.

Hi everyone!!!

30 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!

Not much going on right now. Just thought I'd post and see what is going on.

Later everyone,
Emily

30 Days... OMG.. I have to get DH a suit still! I had pleanty of time.. where did it go?

I started working last week and now it looks like it might become full time! WOW... I wasn't even looking for that! I just wanted to do some temp jobs to get out of the house.. kids were driving me nuts, house always a mess!!! Needed some adult time for the first time in 14 years.. and now it might be a full-time job with benefits! Working as a receptionist at a law firm. It's kinda nice because I'm not swamped with resposibilty so I'm able to check up on you guys here and see what's going on! I'm actually going to do my payroll for our company here at this job... kinda nice to be paid to do my own work!!

Way to go KSUmom!!!! That's around what I'm looking to do. I love my current job, but the pay is kinda blah. I've been here two years and haven't gotten a raise, nor am I going to get one. Instead they try to cut my hours and my pay and my benefits. I've been looking for a year and no luck yet.

Gee.. I kinda feel a bit guilty!! Here I'm not really looking and bam.. right in my lap it falls!! Guess that goes to show you things happen when you least expect them to!! :flower:

KSUmom.........watch out. I started doing recess duty last year at the elementary up the road, 2 hours a day. Then came full time at the High School before I knew what happened. Then I added a parttime teaching position after school. Now this year I am my own department and I start on getting my masters in 2 weeks! :earseek: I don't know what happened after I had been home 12 years! I think somehow I am trying to make up for lost time. Just be careful, I would never want this condition to happen to anyone else.

Christal.......I am glad you have a good outlook on what has been going on. I promise someday you will look back and think, "wow, am I glad I did not get that house" and "getting that position would have prevented me from....". Hard for us to see when it is close, easier to see when you back up into the big picture.

I never dread telling my kids teachers about leaving on vacation. I had lost both of my parents by the age of 35 so spending time with my family is more important than 5 days of school. However, my daughters volleyball coach did not give me such a positive response last night. Alex, would actually prefer to stay home with the neighbors. You can never get back those memories with your family, grandparents, etc. so she is going! What a life, forced to go on Disney Cruise. That will be good for her to talk about in counseling someday. :rotfl:

Gotta run and get some pool time in.......our air conditioning is broken, so I gotta get out of here while my husband and his friend from work try to fix it! Usually better to make myself scarce(sp?) in these situations.

Missy

Ksumom, there's no reason to feel guilty. What an opportunity!! I know it will happen eventually. It's just the waiting game that kills you.
